Efrain Escudero is a Mexican American mixed martial arts fighter, collegiate wrestler, and reality TV star. He trains under Drew Fickett, and competes in the 155 lb (70.3 kg) weight class. Efrain is the winner of season 8 of Spike TV's reality show, The Ultimate Fighter.
Early Career
Efrain Escudero (Hecho en Mexico) began his career in the summer of 2006 by putting together two back to back wins in Roland Sarria's Phoenix based Rage in the Cage mixed martial arts organization. He followed up his two fight win streak the following summer by streaking together 7 straight wins all by submission. This streak of submissions was the highest recorded in the year of 2007.
Efrain only fought during the summer months because he is a full time collegiate wrestler. He competed for Pima Community College for the years 2006 and 2007 seasons. This is the same college in which fellow MMA competitors Drew Fickett, Jamie Varner, and Jesse Forbes attended. During the 2006-2007 season Efrain placed 7th at the NJCAA national tournament in the 157lb weight class, officially making Efrain an All-American.
Efrain recently stepped out of his summer fight schedule to compete in Full Moon Fighting's inaugural event held in Rocky Point, Mexico. This was Efrain's first time fighting in his native country of Mexico, and he wore a pair of fight shorts bearing the Mexican Flag. His bout was against Tommy Wagner, whom he defeated by submission due to strikes at 1:12 of round 1.
The Ultimate Fighter 8
Efrain Escudero was a contestant on UFC's The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir on Spike TV as a Lightweight. He won his first fight against Ido Pariente with a rear naked choke in the first round to make it into the house. He then beat Shane Nelson in the second round with a mounted triangle to earn a spot in the semi-finals. He then beat Junie Browning with a D'Arce choke in the second round to advance to the finals. In the Spike TV prsented The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir finale, Efrain earned his six figured UFC contract by defeating Phillipe Nover by unanimous decision. Upon receiving his trophy, he dedicated his win to his late father, who passed away right before he left for the show. He further dedicated his win to anybody who had ever lost anybody they loved.
UFC Career
Efrain Escudero earned his first official win in the UFC on December 13, 2008, by defeating Phillipe Nover by Unanimous Decision during the main event of The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir Finale,that was live and free on Spike TV.
Efrain has met with Dana White and UFC matchmaker Joe Silva to have a fight between Efrain and Jeremy Stephens at UFC Fight Night 18.[1]

Personal life
- Efrain was born in Mexico, but became an American citizen later, after immigrating to the US with his parents.
- Efrain Escudero attended Cibola High School in Yuma, Arizona. He was coached by Pepe Moreno (Cibola's first two time state champ in 1994 & 1995;also wrestled for ASU) and Terrell Hunsinger Jr. During Efrain's senior year at Cibola, he captured a 5A Arizona State Wrestling Championship at 140lbs after taking 3rd as a junior at 135.
- Efrain attended Pima Community College, where he wrestled at 157lbs, eventually placing 7th at the NJCAA nationals, earning himself an All-American status for the sport of wrestling.
- Escudero currently attends Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. He wrestles at 157lbs and is the current Co-captain of the wrestling team. Efrain is currently a junior, majoring in criminal justice.

Efrain Escudero was the last fighter to accomplished all three of these feats before Pima's wrestling program was cut due to Title IX in 2007.
