Kenny Kweens is an American bassist who is best known for his nine-year tenure in the hard rock band Beautiful Creatures. He is currently playing in the Phil Lewis fronted version of L.A. Guns and also has his own solo project titled Villains of Vaudeville.
History
Wicked Jester (1987–1993)
In 1987, Kenny Kweens joined the group Wicked Jester,[3] a band that had formed in Illinois and relocated to Kenny's hometown of Biloxi, Mississippi playing a number of local shows. In 1991 the group relocated to Los Angeles, California but failed get out of the club scene. The group disbanded in 1993.[4]
Shake the Faith (1993–1994)
Following the demise of Wicked Jester, Kenny joined the group Shake the Faith, formed in Los Angeles, California by singer David Aragon in 1992, which featured former Black N' Blue and current Kiss guitarist Tommy Thayer.[5] They released one album, America the Violent, in 1994 but after a brief tour, where the group changed their name to No. 9, the group disbanded.[6]
Beautiful Creatures (2000–2009)
In 2000, Kenny joined Beautiful Creatures, whose previous lineup featured his former Shake the Faith bandmate Danny Parker, touring with Kiss and Marilyn Manson. After signing a record deal with Warner Bros., they released the self-titled debut Beautiful Creatures, produced by Sean Beavan, on August 14, 2001.[7] The band were added to the 2001 Ozzfest lineup playing from June 8 through to August 12 aswell as the Rolling Rock Tour and later toured Japan.[8] After numerous lineup changes the band announced they were to release sophomore album Deuce on Japanese label JVC in 2004 with a US release due in early 2005.[9] but the album was not released until April 21, 2005 in Japan and after signed with Spitfire Records[10] with the album being released in the US on August 23, 2005. To support the album, that band announced a fall tour with industrial metal band The Genitorturers.[11] After signing a deal with Perris Records for a European release of Deuce in 2006[12], the band embarked on a UK headlining tour with Stephen Pearcy of Ratt.[13] In April 2008, BC were announced as one of the acts appearing at Rocklahoma 2008 on Sunday, July 13.[14] On July 5, 2009, Kenny announced his departure from the group making his last appearance at the 3rd annual Rocklahoma.
Villains of Vaudeville (2008–present)
In early 2008, bassist Kenny Kweens started his own project titled Villains of Vaudeville with 3 songs posted on the official myspace produced by Tracy Swider, of Hate Times Nine, and mixed and mastered by BC bandmate Anthony Focx. An EP or album was planned for release at the end of 2008 but failed to materialise.[15][16] With his involvement with L.A. Guns, it is unknown wither or not any new material will be released in the near future.
L.A. Guns (2009–present)
In July 2009, Kenny Kweens was announced as the replacement for the departed Scott Griffin in the Phil Lewis fronted L.A. Guns.[17][18]
