Welcome and introduction

Hi, OttomanJackson. This is NOT some automated message...it's from a real person. You can talk to me right now. Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've just joined, and wanted to give you a few tips to get you started. If you have any questions, please talk to us. The tips below should help you to get Best of luck!  Chzz  ►  01:03, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

ようこそ
  • You don't need to read anything - anybody can edit; just go to an article and edit it. Be Bold, but please don't put silly stuff in - it will be removed very quickly, and will annoy people.
  • Ask for help. Talk to us live, or edit this page, put {{helpme}} and describe what help you need. Someone will reply very quickly - usually within a few minutes.
  • Edit existing articles, before you make your own. Look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better. For example, Wikipedia:Cleanup#2009.
  • When you're ready, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.

Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page.

There's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of Wikipedia!

Stop

Stop recreating these song articles, as they are not notable and fail WP:NMUSIC. Pyrrhus16 23:02, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, just to back up the above editor. The relevant policy is WP:MUSIC - it says "Songs that have been ranked on national or significant music charts, that have won significant awards or honors or that have been performed independently by several notable artists, bands or groups are probably notable. (However) a separate article on a song is only appropriate when there is enough verifiable material to warrant a reasonably detailed article; articles unlikely ever to grow beyond stubs should be merged to articles about an artist or album." Thanks, Black Kite (t) (c) 01:04, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notabilty

Notability is based on coverage in many, many reliable sources. Not on a handful and not on your original research or opinion. The images you added to the article were taken by Discogs off of google images and they have not credited the photographer, as it is clearly a photograph of the product and not just an album cover on its own. The images fail WP:FAIRUSE and are a copyright violation. Pyrrhus16 10:50, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

April 2010

Stop edit warring by restoring the images to the "Speechless" article, when several editors are opposed to them. Use the article talk page, where these issues can be discussed. Continue along this route and you may be blocked from editing for edit-warring. Pyrrhus16 21:55, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Conquests (Civilization III Scenarios), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article that does not provide sufficient context to identify its subject. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Pyrrhus16 22:00, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re:

Your articles are redirect and nominated for deletion because they are not independently notable, meaning that they are not written about in many, many reliable, third party sources. I think you would benefit from using the this to create any future articles. Pyrrhus16 22:18, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Theodosia Throckmorton, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Theodosia Throckmorton. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Pyrrhus16 22:28, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:MJ Speechless Disc.jpeg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. FASTILYsock(TALK) 23:54, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 19:03, 17 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of OttomanJackson

A tag has been placed on OttomanJackson, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to an article talk page, image description page, image talk page, mediawiki page, mediawiki talk page, category talk page, portal talk page, template talk page, help talk, user page, user talk or special page from the main/article space.

If you can fix the redirect to point to a mainspace page, please do so and remove the speedy deletion tag. However, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag unless you are fixing the redirect. If you think the redirect should be retained as is for some reason, you can request that administrators wait a while before deleting it. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your reasoning on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Orphaned non-free image File:MJ Speechless Cover.jpeg

⚠

However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
  • I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.
  • If you receive this notice after the image is deleted, and you want to restore the image, click here to file an un-delete request.
  • To opt out of these bot messages, add {{bots|deny=DASHBot}} to your talk page.
  • If you believe the bot has made an error, please turn it off here and leave a message on my owner's talk page.

Thank you. DASHBot (talk) 00:37, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As there's no rush to accept submissions, you should always cleanup the article first. Right now there are several broken references, entire sections which must be removed, and poor sourcing.  fetchcomms 23:10, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In addition, a comment was left unaddressed, that it needed (and still needs) a copyedit. If you could assist in that, please do.  fetchcomms 23:17, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

April 2010

Do not lie in edit summaries, as you did here. That edit does not constitute vandalism at all. Furthermore, use the article talk page to discuss issues and cease edit warring. Pyrrhus16 23:16, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:Rosemary Anne.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

Orphaned non-free image File:MJ Speechless Back.jpeg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:MJ Speechless Back.jpeg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use.

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.  fetchcomms 23:30, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, but a recent edit of yours to the article Speechless (Michael Jackson song) has an edit summary that appears to be inaccurate or inappropriate. Please use edit summaries that accurately tell other editors what you did, and feel free to use the sandbox for any tests you may want to do. Thank you. mono 01:40, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Recreating Greg Heffley

Please do not re-create articles where there is consensus to redirect per an AfD discussion. This page: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Greg Heffley established consensus against his notability, and your one opinion does not override consensus. Thank you and かんぱい! Scapler (talk) 06:57, 24 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. If you continue to introduce inappropriate pages to Wikipedia, such as Don't Walk Away (Michael Jackson song), you will be blocked from editing. If you need guidance on how to create appropriate pages, try using the Article Wizard. I'm sorry to have to use such a warning; I appreciate your efforts, however - considering all the other messages above, I really think that you need to read WP:FIRST, Wikipedia:Image use policy#Requirements and Help:Edit summary. To create an article that is not ready to go live, use WP:USERSPACEDRAFT. I will add some help about referencing, below. Please ask if you need help.  Chzz  ►  07:24, 24 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Theodosia Throckmorton has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable character

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ~BLM (talk) 16:38, 24 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is the final warning you will receive regarding your disruptive edits.
The next time you create an inappropriate page, such as Theodosia Throckmorton, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Do NOT recreate pages that you or others have created that have been recently deleted per consensus. I suggest you take the time to read some of the helpful links supplied above. April 2010

Please stop making disruptive edits by re-creating article's for un-notable Michael Jackson songs. If you continue to create article's for un-notable things, as well as undoing other editors edits that redirect the pages, then you will be blocked from editing. Re: ???

No, you cannot recreate the deleted page because other editors discussed the matter and stated that it should be deleted outright, with no redirect. The song articles that you create are fail WP:NSONGS, so I suggest you stop and instead work on the thousands of song articles that already exist and that need improvement.
