Big welcome to the article rescue squadron

Here to help articles tagged for rescue!

Hi, FeydHuxtable, welcome to the Article Rescue Squadron! We are a growing community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to identifying and rescuing articles that have been tagged for deletion. Every day hundreds of articles are deleted, many rightfully so. But many concern notable subjects and are poorly written, ergo fixable and should not be deleted. We try to help these articles quickly improve and address the concerns of why they are proposed for deletion. This covers a lot of ground and your help is appreciated!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the talk page, and we will be happy to help you.

And once again - Welcome! Ikip (talk) 19:26, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification

Hi. When you recently edited Reactions to the Occupy movement, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Progress (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Malaysian articles

As a member of Wikiproject Malaysia, can I ask you to please take greater care editing articles about the country and better acquaint yourself with the country's history and politics. In the last few days you have:

  • Wrongly asserted that there is a country called "Malay". ([1])
  • Wrongly asserted that the "greater federation of Malaysia became independent in 1963", when there is nothing that Malaysia became independent from in that year. ([2])
  • Wrongly asserted that Malaysia had a "president" in 1964. That position has never existed. (same diff)
  • When reverted by a Malaysian editor on the president point, wrongly asserted that Lee Kuan Yew was the "leader" of Malaysia in 1964 ([3]). At the time, Lee Kuan Yew was the leader of Singapore, a component of Malaysia.
  • Wrongly (and after being reverted) asserted the existence of a position called "King Yang di-Pertuan Agong", which effectively means "King King". ([4])
  • Repeated, in a second article, the misconceptions about "Malay" being a country and independence of Malaysia in 1963. ([5])

Thanks --Mkativerata (talk) 02:38, 24 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'll be more careful and thanks for the info about Lee. You're right I blatantly overstated the position he held back in 1964. And I missed the last 'a' from Malaya. Aside from that, youre perhaps once again being a little unreasonable and uncollegial. Components of the greater federation like Sabah did indeed only achieve independence in 63. The Malaysian editor didnt revert me, they changed a small part of my edit. And note afterwards they thanked me with a barnstar and asked me to work on another Malaysian article. Perhaps this advice is misguided, but given the other recent edits I've seen from yourself, and considering how reasonable and thoughtful you seemed not that many months ago (which is why I strongly supported your RfA despite perceiving you as a deletionist) I cant help thinking you might be a little wiki stressed? Sometimes even the best of us benefit from someone else pointing these things out. Too much involvement here would probably try the patience even of a Saint. Possibly a little wiki break would help, God willing after a few weeks you'll be back to the excellent Mkativerata of old. Its what Im going to do anyway. (Im a little wiki stressed too, purely due to ARS related matters, not at all yourself, and if you want to carry on this conversation here or by email thats fine.) God bless you. DRV

A notification that the Templates for Discussion discussion (oy, repetition) has been taken to a deletion review discussion. The Article Rescue Squadron was notified, and as notifications to previous involved parties isn't normal practise, I and a few ARS members agreed that, in the interests of transparency and fairness, we should let everyone know...hence this talkpage message ;).

If anyone has an issue with me sending these out, do drop me a note on my talkpage. Regards, Ironholds (talk) 10:24, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

ARS Newsletter

I've been working on a new issue for the Article Rescue Squadron newsletter on the newsletter Draft page. I've noticed that you've contributed to past newsletters, so just sending this invite to see if you would be interested in contributing. The sections "Feature", "Featured editor", "Featured administrator" and "Contest" are empty. I'm thinking about omitting the "Contest" portion for issue #3, because I'm not sure if there would actually be any participation in it. If you have the time to help out, a new newsletter could be ready for publishing relatively soon. Anyway, either way, if you're interested or not, please feel free to contact me on my talk page.
