The discography of Barbadian singer Rihanna consists of six studio albums, three compilation albums and forty-three singles (including ten as a featured artist, three charity releases, and one promotional single).

Rihanna made her chart debut in 2005 with "Pon de Replay", after signing with record label Def Jam Recordings. Her debut album Music of the Sun included distinct Caribbean reggae rhythms and dancehall beats fused with synthesised urban dance-pop.[1] The second single from the album was "If It's Lovin' that You Want". The following year, Rihanna released her second studio album, A Girl like Me, which had a more urban-pop sound as opposed to the tropical sound of Music of the Sun.[2] A Girl like Me spawned four singles: chart-toppers "SOS" and "Unfaithful", as well as "We Ride" and "Break It Off"; which featured Sean Paul. The accompanying music video for "Unfaithful" was directed by Anthony Mandler, and was the first of many videos the pair worked on together.

In 2007, Rihanna collaborated with J-Status and Shontelle on the song "Roll It", before releasing her third album, Good Girl Gone Bad. The album again shifted genres to a more urban and European dance-pop sound.[3] The album included the worldwide number-one single "Umbrella" featuring Jay-Z, which topped the charts in thirteen countries and remains the longest UK number one of the 2000's decade, and therafter. The three other singles released were "Shut Up and Drive", "Hate That I Love You" which features Ne-Yo and "Don't Stop the Music". A reissue of the album titled Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded produced two more hit singles: "Take a Bow" and "Disturbia", both of which topped the US charts. The final single was "Rehab". Between 2008 and 2009, Rihanna featured on the singles: "If I Never See Your Face Again" with Maroon 5, "Live Your Life" with T.I., and "Run This Town" with Jay-Z and Kanye West. She also performed on the charity record "Just Stand Up!" together with many other female artists.

Rihanna's fourth studio effort, Rated R, was released in November 2009. It was described as having a "dark" and "mature" tone.[4] Rated R delivered the promotional single "Wait Your Turn" and the singles "Russian Roulette", "Hard" - a collaboration with Jeezy and "Rude Boy" which topped the US Billboard Hot 100. "Rockstar 101" which featured Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash and "Te Amo" were the final two singles. In Summer 2010 Rihanna also appeared on Eminem's worldwide smash hit single, "Love the Way You Lie", which reached number-one in twenty-two countries; and David Guetta's single, "Who's That Chick?".

Loud, Rihanna's fifth studio album, was released in November 2010. The first single "Only Girl (In the World)" topped the charts in fifteen countries. "What's My Name?" featuring Drake topped the UK and US charts. The subsequent singles were "Raining Men" featuring Nicki Minaj (an Urban U.S. radio single) and "S&M" which topped the charts in the United States as well, followed by "Man Down" and "California King Bed". "Cheers (Drink to That)" was released as the sixth and final single. In 2011, she also appeared on Kanye West's single "All of the Lights" and Nicki Minaj's single "Fly", both of which reached the top-twenty of the US charts.

Rihanna's sixth album, Talk That Talk, was released in November 2011. The album's first single, "We Found Love" featuring and produced by Calvin Harris, was a major worldwide success, topping the charts in nineteen countries. It eventually topped the Billboard Hot 100 for ten non-consecutive weeks, becoming her longest-running number-one of her career in the country and of 2011. The album's second and third singles were "You Da One" and "Talk That Talk" featuring Jay-Z. In 2012, Rihanna also appeared on the singles "Princess of China" by Coldplay and "Take Care" by Drake.
