Ajami, Jaffa article

Hi all,

Can you please take a look at the Ajami, Jaffa article and offer some additional input on how it can be further developed? Also, I would like it to be part of WikiProject Palestine as it is relevant to Palestinian History, the Nakba and the Palestinian citizens of Israel.

Thank you,

Jerusalem

There is a discussion taking place on Talk:Jerusalem about fundamental changes to the introduction of the article. People are encouraged to take part. Thanks BritishWatcher (talk) 10:54, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You don't have good coverage of Years in Palestine

I took a look at Years in the Palestinian territories, and there aren't articles for most of the years scene the 1940s. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 03:14, 26 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I Have a draft of 1948 at User:Emmette Hernandez Coleman/1948 in the Palestinian territories. —Preceding undated comment added 02:14, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
It's a copy of 1948 in Israel and mostly needs the irreverent Israel stuff removed before it's ready to go live, though other improvements are welcome. Feel free to help out.Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 02:28, 27 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There's a proposed Content split of Portal:Palestine into one portal about the Palestinian territories, and one about the Palestine/Israel region. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 10:21, 27 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Scope

My understanding is that this WikiProject is about both the Palestine/Israel region and the Palestinian territories. If I'm correct, shouldn't this be noted in Wikipedia:WikiProject Palestine/About? (talk) 13:18, 27 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Creation of Gaza Strip Economy article

Hi all,

I have just joined this group and was planning on creating an in depth page on the Economy of the Gaza Strip.

I was planning on adding several things to the article (not necessarily in this order). 1) An extensive history section covering Gaza during the following time periods: Pre-1947, 1947-2006, and 2006 onwards. I hope to characterize how Israel has affected the economic development of the region, and whether Hamas' leadership has improved or impacted the Gaza economy significantly.

2) Creating an extensive foreign aid sections that covers the impact on the Gaza economy.

3) Creating and condensing the different sectors of the economy into one section, with extensive sub sections for each branch of the market (Energy, Construction, Recreation, Housing, Tourism, and Transport)

4) A section discussing the predicted the economic future of the Gaza Strip.

5) An Unemployment section as well as a Labor and Welfare section.

6) An Economic Overview of the Gaza Strip.

I plan to use some sources from different reports by the US government (Government Accountability Office), as well as published articles (Ilana Feldman “Ad Hoc Humanity: UN Peacekeeping and the Limits of International Community in Gaza” American Anthropologist Vol. 112 No. 3 (2010)) and books (Sara M. Roy, Hamas and civil society in Gaza: engaging the Islamist social sector (Princeton University Press, 2011)). I am still gathering sources at the moment, and plan on using Google Scholar to expand my references.

Additionally, while I plan to be writing about economic functions of the Gaza Strip, I don't have an extensive background in economic systems. I was wondering if there were any economics specialists out there who could offer their insights or analysis on the sources I might be posting, and making sure that I am fitting everything into the big picture correctly.

I would also love any feedback or input anyone could give me on creating this page. I understand that this page and any information I find may be biased either for or against either side, so I was hoping to get a second pair of eyes in evaluating sources and writing impartially.

Thanks again, and if there is anyone interested in working together, feel free to contact me.

Flag and CoA on Palestinian_territories

There's a dispute on weather to include a flag and CoA on Talk:Palestinian_territories#Infobox, based largely on weather their their Palestinian symbols, or just symbols of the State of Palestine/Palestinian National Authority. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 12:53, 4 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Economy of the Palestinian Territories

It has been suggested that Economy of the Palestinian territories be moved to Economy of the Palestinian Authority. Comments and input are welcomed. Dlv999 (talk) 09:25, 5 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

UN non-member state status for Palestine. Vote expected in November 2012

Is there a separate article for this? If not, where is this discussed in other articles? I can not find anything yet.

See:

The 1933 Palestinian Demonstrations

I was reading through this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1933_Palestine_riots) article when I noticed that it claims the Arab Higher Committee, in 1933, called for a general strike. The problem with this claim is that the Arab Higher Committee was established in 1936... I believe the person who edited the article meant the Arab Executive Committee. Should I edit the article? --Wiki Khalil (talk) 010:53, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You are right and I changed it. However that article is in dire need of clean up and sourcing. Zerotalk 23:48, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'll work on the article tonight and add sources. --Wiki Khalil (talk)

Redirects

Creating the redirects listed at Wikipedia:Bot_requests#Redirects_for_.22X_of_the_Palestinian_territories.22_to_.22X_of_the_Palestinian_National_Authority.22 would be fine, correct? Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 07:36, 20 October 2012 (UTC) The rederctes are:[reply]

  • Currently, I have:
  • Main page is YEAR in the Palestinian territories
  • Redirect YEAR of the Palestinian territories to YEAR in the Palestinian territories
  • YEAR in Palestine to YEAR in the Palestinian territories
  • YEAR in the Palestinian National Authority to YEAR in the Palestinian territories
  • YEAR of the Palestinian National Authority to YEAR in the Palestinian territories
  • YEAR of Palestine to YEAR in the Palestinian territories
  • Then:
  • Main page is YEAR in Mandatory Palestine
  • YEAR of the Mandatory Palestinian territories
  • YEAR in the Mandatory Palestinian territories
  • YEAR in the Mandatory Palestinian National Authority
  • YEAR of the Mandatory Palestinian National Authority
  • YEAR of Mandatory Palestine
Palestinian territories or occupied Palestinian territories is a much more dubious and vague term than the PNA and Hamas Administration, because occupied Palestinian territories on one hand are or were defined as West Bank and Gaza combined, but on the other hand are currently more and more related as areas under Palestinian control in parts of WB and in Gaza (PNA and Hamas Administration). In addition, the "occupied Palestinian territories" term is not used by the UN, preferring West Bank and Gaza Strip - the reason being that Israel has indeed occupied those areas in 1967, but at the time the areas were not defined as Palestinian, but rather Jordanian West Bank and Egyptian Gaza Strip.Greyshark09 (talk) 07:37, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There is nothing vague or dubious about the term Palestinian Territories. It is a well defined and commonly used term used to describe Gaza and the West Bank (including East Jerusalem).
Palestinian Territories is the name used to refer to the West Bank and the Gaza Strip by International media organizations [1], [2], in academic literature [3], by the UN[4], [5], EU [6], individual Governments such as the UK[7] and US[8], international human rights organizations [9], [10], the International Court of Justice [11], and the International committee of the Red Cross [12] among others.
Unless you provide evidence to support your assertions all you are giving us is your personal opinion, which does not carry much weight. Your statement about the UN is flat out wrong. Dlv999 (talk) 07:48, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Mergers

There are currently two discussions considering the merger of Palestinian villages depopulated in 1948 with the Israeli Moshav and Kibbitz that were later founded on the former land or in the general vicinity of the Palestinian villages. The articles are Al-Kabri -> Kabri (Galilee) and al-Bassa -> Betzet (Galilee). All input is welcomed. Dlv999 (talk) 08:55, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
