Controversy

There is plenty of speculation of where he is able to get the funds for Red Granite Pictures and his connection to his mother Rosmah Mansor, the wife of Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Razak. His business partner is Jho Low who is connected with Sarawak Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud and 1Malaysia business vehicle, 1Malaysia Development Berhad. The accusation created by Pakatan Rakyat leader and supporters. [3][4] However, Red Granite pictures denied the allegations and has demanded Sarawak Report and the online news media in the country to retract their articles that implied that the company’s resources were obtained by dishonest means from Malaysia.[5] In a legal letter to the editor of Sarawak Report, the Loeb & Loeb LLP that represents Red Granite, describes the article which have been reprinted by other opposition press outlets, as containing numerous false, misleading, defamatory and malicious statements. To advance a naked political agenda, the article systematically twists, distorts and invents “facts”, relies heavily on false innuendo and character assassination, and repeatedly draws dishonest inferences or leaves the reader to draw false inferences, based on conjecture or wishful thinking.[6][7] The report on Riza's purchase of an expensive RM110 million penthouse in New York, have also been raised by major opposition medias.[8][9]In response towards Red Granite Picture denial, Clare Rewcastle Brown, the journalist of Sarawak Report who is also the sister-in-law to former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown added, "We would be delighted if he(Riza Aziz) could publicly account for his sources of income and tell us how he got so apparently wealthy or who his wealthy backers are."[10] The producers of the hit movie "Dumb and Dumber" say Red Granite Pictures is using money from the Malaysian prime minister's family to squeeze them out of producing the upcoming sequel.[11]
