Can you help me i don't know how to do that

Comment/question: BracketBot mentioned that I could have broken the syntax of the page by using "(" without a ")". This is a misunderstanding, I added an image whose file name contains a "(" but no ")". The page's syntax is not broken, the page is shown correctly.

Marvin Ruder 20:00, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

Sorry to butt in. @Ruder.marvin: You are correct the syntax is valid, but commons:File:Außenansicht des Gymnasiums Athenaeum in Stade (Quelle- "http---www-bundesfinanzministerium-de-Content-DE-Standardartikel-Themen-Oeffentliche Finanzen-Foederale Finanzbeziehungen-Kommunales Zukunftsinvestitio 2014-01-05 15-00.jpg is a really awful file name which is likely to cause confusion. I suggest you request a renaming there with commons:Template:Rename, for example with the code {{rename|Außenansicht des Gymnasiums Athenaeum in Stade.jpg|1|Source should not be part of name|user={{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}}. Otherwise the first Commons editor who comes by may choose a more suitable name. PrimeHunter (talk) 00:23, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

BracketBot - Revision 594930195 (more than just unpaired brackets)

Is it possible for BracketBot to run an edit filter before opening a talk page for an IP editor? Revision 594930195 did have unpaired brackets; it also inserted an unconstructive edit / minor vandalism, Hi people and killed an image. That combination deserves a different talk page open. On the other hand, that may be asking too much of a bot. - Neonorange (talk) 07:00, 11 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Well, there are dedicated anti-vandal bots, but BracketBot is currently not among them - giving it this kind of capability would likely be a major effort, and it's completely unrelated to the bot's main purpose. I don't think "being less welcoming to would-be vandals" is among the bot's most urgent areas of improvement. Huon (talk) 18:21, 11 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Much appreciated. I have since edit the error and I believe it is now up to scratch. I need help however in uploading the titles for the programme. If you could do this, I will be grateful.

Let BracketBot not be quite so keen

This Bot now gets in the way. I make small edits and it continually reminds me that I have made a mistake on a copy edit when I am in the middle of making small edits. Can you not have it stand off after the last change for an hour or two?

  • First, thou shalt not dictate to other Wikipedia editors who come to edit voluntarily what is thine opinion, and take a guideline to a policy and enforceth thine own.
  • Second, thy Bot, BracketBot, hath committed sins by changing articles when an editor (namely me) was in the business of changing them.
  • Third, That BracketBot has left several messages on my talk page about missing brackets (I notice it does not say braces, parentheses, or guillemets) when I have already fixed them.
  • Fourth, thou shalt have a bot, but use it wisely or not at all. Si Trew (talk) 09:13, 17 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
To declare an interest, I helped to write the essay at WP:FEET. I make lots of small changes rather than one huge change. Bots get in the way of that. Si Trew (talk) 09:28, 17 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I see that you can not be bothered to answer talk by a good faith editor but continue to use your bot as a blunderbuss. I asked you nicely and I could imagine you may have been busy, but you have had several edits and replies since without bothering to answer mine. So I shall stop the bot. Si Trew (talk) 21:31, 17 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
First, I have no idea what guideline or policy you are talking about. All the bot does is notify editors of potential problems; how is that "enforcement" of whatever?
Second, the bot does not edit articles, ever.
Third, I just checked the last three BracketBot messages on your talk page, and the bot gives a message ten minutes after the edit that causes the message. In none of the examples I checked had you resolved the bracket issues before the bot notified you; in one case it even pointed out a problem you had introduced after the edit that originally caused the bot notification. Thus I expect the list of remaining problems is current when you're notified. If you fix bracket problems within ten minutes the bot probably will not notify you at all. If there were other instances where the bot did notify you about resolved problems, please provide diffs.
Fourth, A930913 is very busy in real life and does not deal with their own talk page (which due to BracketBot is rather active, mostly with issues that do not require A930913's attention, such as incorrect claims that the bot edited an article) very often. Huon (talk) 22:51, 17 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Unexplained removal of content

I don't understand the whole shit of what it means and says. I need a better explain to understand.

You shouldn't just remove stuff. At the very least, when others challenge your removal, explain your reasons at that article's talk page; don't simply revert. Whether you're right or wrong, what you did there is considered edit warring. Huon (talk) 20:36, 18 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Which one?

You say there's an error in my edit here. Which one? Llywelyn2000 (talk) 00:59, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Llywelyn2000: In your edit, you changed "http://www.delightedbeauty.org/" to "www.delightedbeauty.org/vvv" inside the "url" parameter of a {{cite web}} template. Leaving out the "http://" means that the cite web template treats it as an error. — Mr. Stradivarius ♪ talk ♪ 04:52, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

BattyBot had automatically changed it by the time I arrived on the scene. Why don't you therefore turn yours off, and allow BattyBot to just do it! Alternatively, change the cite web template to allow www... Llywelyn2000 (talk) 07:37, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The main issue is not the table itself but the lack of reliable sources that say the Thames Gharane is indeed a widely recognized one, and not one person's recent invention. Huon (talk) 18:22, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes and no. There is a mismatched bracket, but it's in the file name where we can't really do much about it. This is a known issue with Google Art Project images. Huon (talk) 18:22, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
