Louise Bours (born Louise van de Bours,[1][2] 23 December 1968) is a Member of the European Parliament for the North West England region for the UK Independence Party. She was elected in 2014.

Background

Bours trained as an actress and singer at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. She adopted the stage name Van de Bours - an old variant of her family name. She was also a member of the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company from year 2000, resident at the Savoy Theatre in London.[citation needed] She went on to appear as herself - a fish wife in Brookside, Peak Practice and Band of Gold. [3]

Political career

Bours previously served as councillor on Congleton borough and town councils and was elected Mayor in 2006.[3]

As an MEP she serves as UKIP Health spokesperson, and has appeared on the Question Time discussion programme.[4]

In the 2015 General Election, she stood for parliament for the Knowsley constituency. Bours came second, keeping her deposit.
