May 1968

Welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for reverting vandalism in the article May 1968, but be careful, it was an incomplete reversion. Hu 23:55, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. ^_^ And sorry about that. Hope I didn't mess it up too bad. O_o;;; -WarthogDemon 01:58, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

All lyrics to songs are copyrighted and cannot be allowed on Wikipedia. --172.198.40.82 08:35, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Then take it to a talk page and figure it out. If it is, I want to know as I recall seeing about half a dozen pages with full lyrics on here earlier. -WarthogDemon 08:36, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, if they're over seventy years in length. Lyrics to songs under that age are copyrighted! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 172.198.40.82 (talkcontribs) .

Song lyrics are copyright. Please stop inserting them into the above article. Thanks, Sarah Ewart (Talk) 08:37, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Edit warring is bad. But it's a REALLY bad idea to edit war with someone who is clearly stating they are removing content because it is a copyright violation. Just go to their talk page and ask them to clarify if you're not sure. A lot of respected editors and administrators sometimes edit while logged out and some of our best editors are IPs. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 08:56, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, misread what he/she meant at first but I stopped once I figured what was going on. ^^; I don't discriminate with IPs. Just a misunderstanding there. Sorry for the mess up. -WarthogDemon 08:58, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
S'alright with me. He, by the way.--172.198.40.82 09:01, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting vandalism

Hi. Thanks for your work reverting vandalized articles. I've noticed a few times, though, where you've reverted some, but not all, of a vandal's edits. [1] [2] [3] It's always a good idea to check the history of the article you're reverting to make sure you haven't missed anything. Thanks! -- Vary | Talk 01:08, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem and thanks for the tip. ^_^; -WarthogDemon 02:09, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting Vandalism

Good job on your anti-vandalism efforts! Be careful, though, not to rvv the new warnings other users put on vandals' talk pages (see User talk:207.81.100.69 ). I've done that accidentally before too. ;) Good luck, –- kungming·2 | (Talk·Contact) 06:27, 18 October 2006 (UTC) [reply]

Hmmm.. You know, I'm not sure of really how to prevent such stuff from happening, especially since anti-vandalism efforts are done so quickly - usually, it's measured in a matter of seconds! What I do (if a user's talk page is particularly crowded with vadalism warnings) is to quickly check the history of the talk page, and then see if anything went wrong. But that's all I know. Keep up the good work! –- kungming·2 | (Talk·Contact) 02:28, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Userfying

Re your message: Yes. The short answer is you move the page to their user page. See Wikipedia:Userfication. There's also a message you can leave them {{subst:nn-userfy}}, though I think that message is a little rough. -- Gogo Dodo 05:00, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem :)

I had a feeling that's what happened since I'd blown it off once before. System glitch. Thanks for letting me know; I knew you weren't responsible. - Lucky 6.9 17:20, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

For your efforts against vandalism

I believe you deserve one of these.

The RickK Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
I hereby award you this anti-vandalism barnstar, as acknowledgement of the numorous times you've beaten me to reverting vandalism (By my count, at least seven or eight times. You really deserve it. GUTTERTAHAH 02:21, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vanity pages

It wouldn't be overstepping your bounds at all - in fact, it's very helpful for editors to place warnings like that themselves. If you haven't seen it already, check out Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace for some appropriate templates to use.

With vanity pages, though, I often find it works well to simply move the page to the editor's userpage, if they haven't already created one, and leave a note on their talk page explaining the move. Then, if they re-create the page, add a speedy tag and start with the progressively-sterner warning templates, reporting them to WP:AIV if necessary once you've gotten to level four. -- Vary | Talk 04:16, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ha, no problem. Thanks for pointing her out! -- Vary | Talk 04:17, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

hey!

that would be great for you to help me! i didnt even no that there was a section that the recaps were kept, so i thought it would be best to move them. i need to get some sleep anyways! its like almost 3 here, wayyyy past my bedtime. so yeah, and i also have to change all the Op. to Operation: im new to all of this, i just started tonight, so if you see stuff i do wrong, feel free to tell me, i just want it a little more user friendly. thanks! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Narfers02 (talkcontribs) .

I'll help if it's okay with everyone. I'd like to check with the admins first. But if they give the go ahead I'll be glad to. -WarthogDemon 07:47, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

thanks!

kk, thanks a bunch, i normally sign my messages on other stuff, im just running on empty right now, its almost 3 and i should have been asleep awhile ago, so but all i did wtih the eps, i just copied and pasted, from the one page to the other, just to get them moved, so i didnt edit any of them. if you have AIM IM me, im Narfers02, im always logged on, so its waaayyyy easier for me to respond. thanks again, and ill talk to you later! --narhyn P.S. im a girl, i noticed you two were refering to me as a guy, it happens alot. my name is pronounced like Nair-ren —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Narfers02 (talkcontribs) .

Heh, I make the gender mistake a lot. I do have messengers though I keep it private to most. ^_^; -WarthogDemon 08:21, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

incomplete reverts of vandalism is becoming vandalism

Your incomplete revert of vandalism to Bluegrass music 23:48, 23 October 2006 is actually helping the vandals. I see on your user page that you have a joke (I'm trying to rever analism an I hope I'm doing an okay job in that aspect.) about reverting vandalism so I'm wondering how sincere you are.

I see in your talk page that several people have pointed out these incomplete reverts. If you don't have time to check the previous edits then please don't revert because someone else will. -Crunchy Numbers 17:51, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm okay. Time to vandalize my sandbox to figure out exactly what goes awry in my revertings. o.O -WarthogDemon 18:47, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Adopt

Hello, WarthogDemon! I see that you have expressed an interest in being adopted by an experienced editor. I accept your request, being an experienced editor myself. Good luck with Wikipedia! --Daniel Olsen 19:16, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. :) I'm hoping to get help soon from an editor as there are some movie pages I would like to try and create. (Plus I have the odd question or three every time I log on.) o.o; -WarthogDemon 19:29, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

rv'ing article blanking

When the author of an article that's been tagged for speedy removes the db tag, that should be rv'ed as vandalism. When they blank the whole article, it's interpreted as surrender, as in, "go ahed and delete it". The proper thing to do is put {{db-blanked}} in the article, which expands out to text including "no one other than its original author has made substantial edits, and he or she has blanked the page (CSD G7)." -- Fan-1967 23:35, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, okay. I misread when I checked the info on the templates. Sorry about that and thanks for the heads up. -WarthogDemon 23:36, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure it's specifically documented somewhere. After all, the warning templates for messages on the user talk page specifically tell them that they don't need to blank the page, they can just let it be deleted naturally, but many do anyway. That's why the "db-blanked" template was invented. Fan-1967 23:40, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
In Wikipedia:Speedy deletions it says You should not wipe out the contents as it helps to check the contents to be deleted without having to look at the page history. You should not wipe out the contents as it helps to check the contents to be deleted without having to look at the page history. which I took as meaning I should keep the article just the way I found it. That was the confusion on my part. I'll have to double read next time to make sure I'm doing things alright. Thanks again and sorry about that. -WarthogDemon 23:45, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Beauty and the Beast

You should be able to go ahead and write your article, as long as you abide by the three main policies of Wikipedia: No original research, Verifiability and Neutral point of view. Things written on imdb by writers for the site can be included, things written by forum members generally should not. The image of VHS or DVD covers are considered Fair Use and can be uploaded from wherever, as long as they are taged with either {{DVDcover}} or {{Video tape cover}}. For the article title, we can look to Wikipedia:Naming conventions (films), which says that we should title it Beauty and the Beast (2003 film). Blood Of Beasts should be made into a redirect page which sends the user to Beauty and the Beast (2003 film) in case they search the alternate title. Anything else? --Daniel Olsen 00:15, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. ^_^ Let's see, just to be sure, when I write down the detailed summary, the movie itself is the source, so I really wouldn't need to cite anything other than the movie sites right? -WarthogDemon 04:53, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That's correct. Whenever humanly possible, cite your sources! --Daniel Olsen 01:39, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
