Edinburgh Zoo GAN[edit]

Hello, I saw that you had given a preliminary review of the article for GAN. I hope you don't mind me butting in, but I left further suggestions on the talk page. In short, I feel this article is not comprehensive enough in order to be promoted at this time, so I left various suggestions for expansion which should take a while to complete. However, since you are technically the reviewer, I'll leave it up for you to judge. There is a backlog for GA candidates, however, and this article has been sitting for two weeks now, so perhaps you'd like to make a decision sooner rather than later? If you need further help, just let me know. María (habla conmigo) 15:45, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your quick reply! I definitely believe there is a wiki-job for everyone, so don't be down on yourself. The more positive a reviewer is, the better they're liked, after all; I tend to be far too critical sometimes, which has got be in trouble before. :) The most important thing is that the article benefits from our suggestions, and you made an excellent start of it. I'm glad you agreed with my assessment, and hopefully this article will be ready for next time. Take care, María (habla conmigo) 16:05, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Unhappy, apparently[edit]

Hey! Fuck you; you stupid prick. This is a shared IP and I don't need your queer recommendations on how to use the sandbox. I use Wikipedia frequently and in 5 years have never once vandalised a page until you can strolling along and forced me to defend my honour by saying, FUCK YOU ASSHOLE! —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 00:26, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Odd. I didn't force you to do anything. Actually, most people on a shared IP just ignore those messages, if they were misdirected. Try that next time. Joyous! | Talk 01:44, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
Hi Joyous! I was passing through and saw the garbage above - interesting spelling for someone apparently in the Seattle area, don't you think? I do hope you feel the urge to lodge a formal complaint with QWEST. Accountability and all that. Hope the move went well and you're enjoying the new vista! AncientBrit (talk) 18:54, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

I second that. You use the term faggot on your page but then go around acusing people of vandalism. Well you are a bigot and a hypocrit! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chadk77 (talkcontribs) 23:26, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry you're unhappy. I don't actually see where I've used the term anywhere on my userpage or talk page, though. Joyous! | Talk 00:10, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

IP Vandal[edit]

Thanks. I'm not an admin (although I'm in coaching and shooting for a May RfA), or I would have done it myself - I jumped from a level 1 to 4 warning because of all the past activity. I probably could have even skipped the first, but WP:AGF blah blah. Tanthalas39 (talk) 23:53, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

As a frequent contributor (or vandal patroller) to the days of the year articles (WP:DAYS), your comments on the current state of the proposed guideline for that project would be greatly appreciated. Discussion is taking place here. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 18:57, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Valley Forge High School[edit]

Hey. Try being a little more careful when reverting vandalism. While your revert here was technically right, you reverted the page to an attack state. Just pointing it out, since it probably would've been up there for some time had I not noticed it. Wizardman 22:30, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for catching my error. Joyous! | Talk 02:15, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I read your comment in regard to the picture of the Capri pants. And I totally agree with you. We would like to replace it with the historical first photo of the original Capri pants as well as the first photo with acress Mady Rahl instead (we own the copyright); however, I don't know how to do it? Could you possibly help me with this? Thank you. Eleonora de Lennart, PhD --Eleonora De Lennart 14:56, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Positive Chaos[edit]

Upon looking for this band (Positive Chaos), I noticed that they had been deleted a few years ago by you. I came across them on the WCCC-FM page, and saw that they still don't have a page. I was wondering if someone could create a page about them, I'd be willing to do it, but I don't want to do it and then see it deleted.

Replied on your talk page. Joyous! | Talk 02:06, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for responding, I read the requirements and based on the criteria, I think these guys make it. They were featured on WCCC-FM and were also featured on the Webster Compilation album with their single "Sore". If you wouldn't mind shooting me the original article I'll do a little more research and spruce it up a bit.

Deletion of Pages[edit]

I am writing this because you have deleted my page cash crate. It was not advertising or spam or whatever, it was a true honest report with positives and negatives it was not advertising so please do not delete it again. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Businessmouse (talkcontribs) 11:30, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I was wondering why this page was deleted: I don't believe this deletion occurred in 2005, if that is what's indicated by the log. I would like this page to be restored. —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 01:32, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

Lynn of Tawa[edit]

I've restored Lynn of Tawa to the List of fictional New Zealanders because she is rather well known (though mainly to New Zealanders who were adults in the 1970s), and she has an entry in the major New Zealand encyclopedia, Te Ara. I've added Te Ara as a source.

The list is marginal and might not survive an AfD; I split it from a very disorganised List of New Zealanders some time ago.-gadfium 20:16, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Long time ago you concluded here that this page should be deleted - but seems it it wasn't. I've nominated it again here here. Can you help ensuring it actually goes away this time? --Noe (talk) 09:38, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

Bean musicals[edit]

It looks very promotional to me. Many of the articles don't even make it clear where, or even if, these musicals have ever been produced. All the references are to Bean's own websites. If you AfD them, I'll vote to support. Let me know! -- Ssilvers (talk) 03:00, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Los Angeles Ovation Awards are legitimate awards given for theatre in Los Angeles (if he really got it), so I think that Wondrettes is OK if it checks out. If a play was produced by a blue-linked regional theatre company and got reviews from legitimate papers, then it is probably going to survive an AfD, especially if it received more than one such production. If not, then it should be AfD'd. However, these articles are extremely vaguely written: In each case, they should clearly state who wrote the book, lyrics and music; what previous material the work is based upon, if any; who directed and choreographed; when and where it was produced, and how long it ran; what major reviews it got, and what they said; what notable actors were in it. Obviously, all the promotional language must be deleted. Best regards! -- Ssilvers (talk) 05:43, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

List of Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? episodes[edit]

I need your help. One user using various IP addresses keeps merging the 5 seasons of the list of Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? episodes together into one full episode list, but it's supposed to be at seperate seasons for easier reading. Re increased block time[edit]

No problem with that :) EyeSerenetalk 08:28, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

I have it down where I copy and paste such that it takes me between 30-45 seconds to create the main page and talk page for each article. I plan on doing them in batches by decade, with a break in betweeen them. I think I should be able to knock out all of the oldest books today. For some of the more recent ones I am likely going to try and create real pages which will no doubt slow me down. I noticed you added in a reference & category for the books and I will use that going forward. Thanks, Barkeep49 (talk) 16:53, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

(replied on your talk page) Joyous! | Talk 16:58, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

While doing my job as a new article patroller, I have noticed that you and Barkeep49 are creating several articles about Newbery winners. I am sure there are some in the Wikipedia community that would feel that the list of recipients in the Newbery Medal article is sufficient and that each book having its own article is overkill and not encyclopedic. For now, I am going to indicate that each new article has been patrolled, on the basis that each book article should be improved in the future to include at least a basic story line. That is the kind of information our Wikipedia users would be looking for, and that is why we are all here, isn't it. Thanks. Truthanado (talk) 18:06, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
In the future, would you please use the {{Reflist}} template instead of the <References /> tag in the Reference section. Usage of the template is preferred and has several advantages. Thanks. Truthanado (talk) 18:28, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

WikiProject Children's Literature Roll Call[edit]

Robin McKinley[edit]

Noticing your interest in Newbery winners, I wondered whether you might be interested in helping me clean up Robin McKinley's page. It looks as though it has been put together by fans a while ago and has had very little serious attention since then. I'm collecting a list of possible sources and references which I can paste into my talk page if you would like to collaborate. My interest is more to do with cleaning up unreferenced BLPs in the Children's Literature Project (am currently working on the Peter Sis page) than the Newbery Medal but it occurred to me that our interests might coincide on this page. Oh - and she also happens to be married into my family, so I have to be extremely careful to maintain a NPOV--Plad2 (talk) 11:31, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

Susan Patron[edit]

Another Newbery Medal winner in need of attention, if you are interested and have time. I've added references to avoid the risk of it being deleted as an unreferenced BLP but it is really very scanty as it stands.--Plad2 (talk) 20:42, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Message from WikiProject Children's literature[edit]

I have recently proposed some extensive changes to the layout of project pages in WikiProject Children's literature. The changes can be viewed in my sandbox, and are summarised on this talk page. The proposed changes include major reformatting of the main project page, the creation of five new project sub-pages, and moves to two existing sub-pages. Please look over these proposals, and join the discussion. strdst_grl (call me Stardust) 10:37, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

FAR of Frog[edit]

I have nominated Frog for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Dana boomer (talk) 12:48, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

There's only a few Unreferenced BLPs (Biographies of living people) left. Why not head over to the page and help by adding sources to the articles? It's an important job, that requires assistance.

From the Editor

Hello and welcome to this, the second edition of the newsletter. This month, I need to ask a favour of you. You may have seen that this month I had to write the newsletter by my self. I really need your help with writing and giving suggestions. If you have a suggestion for a future edition, please list it at the tips desk. You may also notice the links underneath this piece. Please use them to share this newsletter on your favourite social networks. Until next time, happy editing!

Ways to promote the project
If you're interested in promoting the project, why not visit the Outreach department for more ideas?

There are many ways to promote the project. One of them is to add the project's ad to your userpage. To do this, simply add the code {{Template:Wikipedia ads|ad=212}} to your talk or user page. Another thing you can do is to invite other users to join the project. To find prospective members search the history pages of Children's literature-related articles and invite people who seem to be deoing good things for these articles. The code for the invitation template is {{subst:Wikipedia:WikiProject Children's literature/Invite}}.

Requesting information about a deleted article (2005 deletion)[edit]

I wanted to ask your help with something. In 2005 you deleted an article Abdulkarim Ghuraib. The deletion log is below. The reason I am asking your help is because I am involved in the editing of the article Algiers Accords. From the article Iran hostage crisis, I extracted this name. After a citation was requested (with good reason I might add), I searched to verify the existence and role of this person; my web searches have not turned up a person "Abdulkarim Ghuraib". I scanned the history of the Iran hostage crisis article, and saw that the name was added in this edit Iran hostage crisis, Revision as of 2005-02-07T20:18:25, with an edit summary pointing to the deleted article.

The deletion discussion Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Abdulkarim_Ghuraib only refers to notability and the fact that he did not turn up in Google. In the contents of the article were there any sort of references for this person and his role in the negotiations? Is is meaningful and possible for me to see the contents of the article before it was deleted?

Thanks for your reply.
Don't worry about the delay. It's fine. I had noticed in your contributions that your last edit at the time was a while back, so I wasn't expecting a quick response.
As for the substance, you're quite right. It doesn't help. I had hoped that maybe the article was a bit longer, offering a piece of information that could guide further "research".
But no...
Anyway, thanks again.

Carol Huston page reinstatement request[edit]

Hi, I just noticed your name as the admin who deleted the Carol Huston page 5 years ago. I think it is worth reinstating the page. She is the only star listed on the Matlock (TV series) page whose name is not a wikipedia page, and she has a substantial list of TV and film credits. [1] I neither know her nor have any conflict of interest, but I just think the page deserves to be reinstated. I figured you would be the right person to contact regarding this. Thanks for all the work you do! (P.S. If you do reinstate it, please leave a message on my page so I can work on bringing it up to standards.) Davemcarlson (talk) 07:01, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

Articles deletion[edit]

Dear Joyous,

I apologize for the inconvenience, but have no other way than appealing for administrators’ help recover a deleted article.

I published a film article entitled Drits (Derivas), a film by Portuguese director Ricardo Costa. It is the second film from an autobiographic trilogy, Faraways. The article was kept untouched by several months. To my surprise, it was recently eliminated and redirected to the director’s page with no discussion. I undid the redirection, but saw the article was proposed to deletion. Reason: independent, verifiable, secondary resources. I argued that the article couldn’t have but primary sources (the producer’s ones) as it is an upcoming film, like many others listed at upcoming films. A film that has not yet been premiered or distributed may not be commented. Besides, none of the films so listed has ever been deleted or even contested.

At last, in discussion, user User:reddogsix proposed that the article should be renamed to Drifts (film) or similar, and at the same time put at the disambiguation page of Dritf this reference «Drifs, unreleased film by Ricardo Costa (filmmaker). I created a new page for the same article entitled Drifts (Portuguese film). As the semantic root “drift” seemed to be the problem, I replaced the article name to Derivas (Drifts) and published it once more with some improvements. As a result, the article was fast deleted and I blocked for three days.

In the meantime, a new article about the trilogy was published: Faraways, which was proposed to fast deletion as well by the same user, User:reddogsix.

Although unreleased, although having no reliable secondary sources, Drifts is unquestionably an outstanding film for its uniqueness and characteristics: autobiography, comedy, docufiction, metafiction in one. I guess that “outstanding” may be a synonym for “notable” in such cases and that articles like this shouldn’t be deleted without previous cared analyses: important information may be lost.

This sequence of interventions is clearly a personal attack by User:reddogsix, supported by two or three user friend. It has no other explanation. It contributes in nothing to improve articles quality. Mists article, which I created on 10 September 2010, is the latest example. The article structure was unreasonably modified, loosing clarity and useful content.

NOTE: sent to 30 administrators.

Thanks for your attention, User:Tertulius 21:53, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
