Cambridge School Srinivaspuri is a senior secondary school located in South Delhi, India. It is situated in Srinivaspuri (near Moolchand Metrostation) Ring Road. It is one of the oldest schools in Delhi and was established on 7 April 1931 by Mr. Alok Chandra Deb, noted^{[citation needed]} educationist. The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education .

History

Cambridge School was founded on 7 April 1931 in a small flat in Qutub Road, Delhi. It moved soon after to 21 Daryaganj. By the 1940's it was established as one of the foremost schools in the city. Cambridge School Delhi was thus named because it was the first school to send students up for the Senior Cambridge Examination. It acquired its own campus in Srinivaspuri and the foundation stone of the building, designed by Cyrus Jhabvala, was laid in 1961 by the Vice President of India Dr. S. Radhakrishnan. The building was inaugurated by Smt. Indira Gandhi, Minister for Information and Broadcasting, in 1963.

Mr. Deb was the Principal of the school till 1964.

Auditorium

The school has an auditorium named after the school founder Shri Alok Chandra Deb, having a seating capacity of approximately 700 with a digital sound system,etc. Guest lectures, presentations, workshops, assemblies and many other co-curricular activities are organised here.^{[citation needed]}

Laboratories

The school has laboratories for physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, informatics, mathematics, home science, social science and psychology.^{[citation needed]}

Library

The school library has 24,000 books including encyclopedias, story books, reference books, and journals, with internet-enabled computers to access information online.^{[citation needed]}

Medical room

A nurse and an attendant are present during school hours in the medical room to provide medical attention in case of any emergency.

Activity programme

The school provides a performing arts programme which includes Indian music, Western music, Indian dance, Western dance, and theatre under the guidance of experienced and talented experts. Besides this various societies for debate,quiz,drama,public speaking,culture,etc give students opportunitiesto express themselves. Robotics and astronomy clubs encourage experiential learning and engage and prepare students for a rapidly changing world.

Guidance and counseling

The school counselors and special needs educator closely interact with students and parents for regular counseling as well as career guidance.

They provide guidance,recommendations and education to parents about mental health concerns besides helping students cope with peer pressure, exam related stress,etc.^{[citation needed]}

The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education and offers several subject options in Class XI and XII with Science, Commerce and Humanities. Professionals are invited for guest lectures to provide students with insight to various career options.^{[citation needed]}
