Plot

The plot surrounds the story of Balamani, an orphaned housemaid who cares for Unni Amma, an elderly woman who considers Balamani her own child. Balamani not only looks after Unni Amma, but also takes the responsibility of looking after the three other housemaids in the house.

The plot thickens when Unni Amma's grandson Manu comes from Bangalore to stay with his grandmother for a few days before leaving for the USA. Balamani admires and fantasizes about Manu, dreaming about their potential marriage. Eventually, they will fall in love.

Unaware of this relationship, Manu's mother wants him to marry her friend's daughter. He tells his mother about his desire to marry Balamani instead, but his mother dismisses him since the wedding arrangement was already made. Manu's decision to marry the housemaid is not welcomed by his relatives, and Manu is forced to go ahead with the arranged marriage. Disheartened, Balamani prays to the Lord to give her strength and let go of her lover. She gets further support from her neighbour, Unnikrishnan, who assures her that everything will fall into place.

Balamani decides to leave the house forever, but Unni Amma stops her and decides to support her and Manu's love by canceling the arranged marriage. Unni Amma succeeds in her endeavours resulting in the marriage of Balamani and Manu, who wed in Guruvayoor Temple in front of Lord Krishna (where Balamani had once prayed).

After the marriage, Balamani goes to visit Unnikrishnan at his house but finds out unexpectedly that the real Unnikrishnan is someone else. She rushes back to the temple and realizes the Unnikrishnan who offered her advice was in fact Lord Krishna himself.
