Worth Mentioning?

I just found out that the word "to count" in Russian (which is effectively how the game Shithead is played) is pronounced "Shchitat" .... could this be a coincidence? I think there maybe something interesting in the game's origins maybe from Russia? Maybe it is not originally from Finland .... Just a thought. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.145.189.13 (talk) 18:51, 28 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ed, I don't think creating articles to score points in a debate is a good idea. --Stephen Gilbert 18:16 Sep 23, 2002 (UTC)

Who's scoring points? I wrote this article as an apology for deleting fuck. On the other hand, if this article is no more valid or useful than fuck, feel free to delete it. --Ed Poor

Your trailed-off sentence makes me doubt your sincerity. Ed, the point is not that fuck is a vital and necessary article that absolutely must stay, but rather someone put quite a bit of work into it and it had at least some useful content. To unilaterially delete it without discussion was a mistake. Ok, it's four in the morning here in Korea; I should go to bed. Good night... or afternoon... it's so hard to keep track of everyone's time zone... --Stephen Gilbert 18:43 Sep 23, 2002 (UTC)

All kidding aside, I get your point. Annyanghee choomooseyo! --Ed Poor
All expletives are not equal, Ed. Fuck trumps shithead easily. Ortolan88
Fuck you, no, it doesn't, you shit head! (shit-eating grin) --Ed Poor

Why is this just about the game shithead? Why not also about the expletive? Or of the use of "shithead" to refer to certain breakfast cereals? It seems there are many legitimate uses of "shithead."

Could we mention that "shithead" is the name of Steve Martin's dog in 'The Jerk'?
Feel free to write those articles, move this one to a (game) page, then make a disambiguation page. The game and expletive can certainly create enough for two articles (not sure about the cereal thing though)sheridan 01:18, 2004 Dec 24 (UTC)
Jeez Ed, you seem like a fucking shitty douchebag

Not sure why there was mention of the Norwegian Idiot - it was known by both names when I was at sixth form, in 1992 sheridan 01:18, 2004 Dec 24 (UTC)

Asshole, President, etc

Not having played any of these, can someone explain to me why we have separate articles at President (game) and Shithead (card game), and why Asshole is listed on the aliases for both? -- nae'blis 01:21, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have played both President and Shithead, and I can tell you that the only similarities between them are that they both focus more on who loses than who wins; they both require you to play cards of equal or higher value than the last play, and that certain cards have special functions. I believe Asshole is another name for President, and not for Shithead, but there does exist a lot of confusion on the issue. I'm going to look at these articles again and see if I can clear anything up. Dansiman 03:43, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have never heard of asshole or president. If they were the same game but different names then include them here. If they are similar then they must be in different entries. who cares if something is similar? --I love football 1982 22:31, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Asshole and president are names of a same game, but that game is different from Shithead. Asshole/President belongs to a same family with Dalmuti and Tichu, characterized by the following (1) a player can play combinations of cards, and a combination can be beaten with a higher combination of the same type (2) if you do not have a valid play, you simply pass (with not further penalty). The cards in the pile burn only after everyone except for one player have passed in a row (3) all the cards are dealt.
All these things are different from Shithead.Punainen Nörtti 08:29, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Round my area, shithead is sometimes called 'Mellon' ArdClose (talk) 22:41, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rules

I have seen a rule common in the UK whereby if 3 of the same value (not suit) are put down together, possibly by three different players! then if another player should have the 4th card no matter where they are in the order of play, then if they are quick enough they can slam it down, clear the deck and possibly win the game OR its their go next. I think a clearer version of this rule should be added perhaps. --I love football 1982 22:31, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Grammatical correction. On the first line of the article it states that the game is known as "shed". This should be "sh'ed", as in an abbreviation of "shit head". This word is still pronounced "shed".

Hozat (talk) 10:04, 16 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not done - the source cited in the article (David Parlett's Penguin Encyclopedia of Card Games) calls it "Shed". We'd need an equal or stronger source confirming any alternate spelling. --McGeddon (talk) 10:55, 16 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Shithead computer games

  • Poohead is a Shithead app for the iPhone and iPad. It can be played in single player mode against the computer or in multi player mode allowing players to play Shithead against other players around the world. The single player mode allows wildcards to be configured to a players variant of the game.
