Peter MacNicol (born April 10, 1954) is an American actor.

Born in Dallas, Texas, MacNicol is best known among television viewers for his Ally McBeal performance as eccentric attorney John Cage, for which he won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 2001. He currently stars in the drama NUMB3RS as physicist Dr. Larry Fleinhardt, and has a regular role as Thomas Lennox in the sixth season of the hit Fox show 24.

MacNicol's film credits include Sophie's Choice, Ghostbusters II, and Dragonslayer.

On Broadway, MacNicol starred in Beth Henley's Crimes of the Heart (1981) and the 1993 revival of the Peter Shaffer play Black Comedy/White Lies. He plays the bagpipes. [1]
