This is getting frustrating

Hello Gazozlu!

I am sure your comments on Talk:2023 Turkey–Syria earthquake are well intended, but this doesn't go anywhere...

If I simply disagreed with what you said then I wouldn't bother responding here, in addition to the article talk page. If it were merely a case of you running into a wall, I wouldn't bother. The truth is, I don't even disagree with your points. That's why this is so frustrating, because I could be in support of the move you have suggested, if you had instead made the same move request a few weeks later. Your attempts to convince users are failing because your arguments are not the issue.

The sources you've put forward appear to be reliable (for the most part), and many of the points you've made are sound. However, by trying to beat the WP:DEADHORSE, you are just causing frustration (for yourself, and others). In addition, with comments like this, it looks like you don't understand the process of reaching consensus, which is only hurting your point.

I understand that you feel like this move is urgent. The truth is, it's a point about semantics, and there are more important issues to work on. Please try to accept that now is not the time for this move, and that we are not merely trying to be stubborn, or to push some bureaucratic agenda, but are trying to keep this page functioning.

Maybe you can instead focus on the main article, and in a few weeks, we can settle the debate on the article title? Renerpho (talk) 16:34, 15 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have a hard time not seeing it as some kind of bureaucratic process when there seem to be no (for the most part) valid reasons to oppose other than bureaucratic reasons. There also appears to be fanatic energy behind opposing. Alas I had accepted this and had wanted to withdraw but that was not possible because the proposal had already received some support. I do still think it's the right move, that's why I was seeing it through even if I would rather abandon the discussion; you are right in that it is frustrating. Gazozlu (talk) 17:27, 15 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The "fanatic energy" is from people getting extremely annoyed at the exact same failed proposal 3 times within a week.
I'm extremely sick of these rename discussions clogging up the talk page when the jury is still out.
Forcing people to go through the beurocratic process is why the WP:SNOWCLAUSE was created. DarmaniLink (talk) 17:36, 15 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations, Gazozlu! The list you nominated, 50th Anniversary of the Republic Sculptures, has been promoted to featured status, recognizing it as one of the best lists on Wikipedia. The nomination discussion has been archived.
This is a rare accomplishment and you should be proud. If you would like, you may nominate it to appear on the Main page as Today's featured list. Keep up the great work! Cheers, PresN (talk) via FACBot (talk) 12:25, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
