Netflix was in negotiations to finance and distribute.[1] However, the film languished in development hell until May 2022, when it was reported that Aneil Karia would direct the film; Ahmed was still set to star as well as produce. Morfydd Clark would costar as Ophelia and Joe Alwyn as her brother Laertes.[2]
Principal photography took place in London, England from November 8 to December 21, 2023.[3][4]
