Timber City Academy is a school located in Eastern Butuan and is a private institution in the Philippines. It was founded in 1947 by Chinese-Filipinos and scholars.[1]
The school before the fire had 500 students studying Chinese and numbers of facilities such as laboratories and classrooms they also had teachers from China[2]
In 2022 and 2019 the school joined international debates and a series of meetings with other countries' debaters, even sending students to Osaka [3][4][5]
In 2021, a fire broke out around 9 PM which destroyed the wooden section of the compound. The fire then got worse by each second then the fire department eventually entered the compound and the fire stopped immediately after hours and hours of trying to cool down the fire. The fire is still being investigated (just until 2022). This was a massive blow for the Fire Department in Butuan and for the infrastructure in the city as well as the fire almost burned through its neighboring buildings, Prince Hotel[6] [7][8]
