iPadOS 18 is the upcoming sixth major release of Apple's iPadOS operating system for the iPad. It was revealed at the 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).[3] It is the direct successor to iOS 17 and was announced alongside iOS 18, watchOS 11, and macOS Sequoia.

iPadOS 18 is the first version of iPadOS to include the Calculator app, as well as Apple Intelligence.[4]

Supported devices

iPadOS 18 drops support for both the iPad Pro 2nd Generation (12.9 and 10.5 inch), and iPad 6th Generation (2018). Thus dropping support for all iPads with the A10X chip or 2GB of ram and officially marking the end of support for iPads with the original 9.7-inch display. The iPad Pro 2nd Generation marks the first time Apple has dropped support for an iPad featuring superior hardware to some models supporting the new update. This also marks the fourth time Apple has dropped support for 64-bit iPads.
