yeardate?

The article states that Stories takes place in 2023, three years prior to GTA III, is this true? I never heared anything of a timeline like this in GTA III.

The article doesn't state that Stories takes place in 2023, it states that Stories takes place in 1998 and GTA 3 in 2001 (the year it was released).

I suggest placing it between the Facts section and the Game missions section. ╫ 25 ring-a-ding 16:45, 18 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Double Cleff FM

The name is Double Cleff with two "f"s. In the manual, it says Double Cleff FM in the credits, which I took a picture of, and in the manual, where it talks about the gangs, it says that the Leone Family Mafia's favorite radio station is Double Cleff FM, with two "f"s. Furthermore, do a Google search for "double clef fm", with one "f". It will say, "Did you mean: double cleff fm". I'm also pretty sure that the name of the station appears as Double Cleff FM on the top station thing in GTA3, I'm not going to go look though. On the LCS site, the image displayed says Double Clef FM with one "f", but I believe they just copied the image from GTA3, which was mistyped, and changed it a bit. I'm not trying to be hostile here, so sorry if this seems rude or something. The picture is here (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v132/ModernCowboy/doublecleff.jpg). Last but not least, on the GTA3 soundtrack page, it mentions it as Double Cleff FM. The two "f" version seems to be the most widely used, so I'm going to change it back. Gold Stur 01:57, 15 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

No, that makes sense now. I couldn't be bothered firing up GTAIII and didn't have my manual handy so the quickest way to check was the supposedly canonical logo. So much for officialness. :) GarrettTalk 13:03, 15 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Rating

I could not find the Rating on the PEGI website,so I just changed it to 16+ because we all know a GTA game would never be rated ec(ESRB)3+(PEGI),E,7+,E 10+,or 12+! - Z.Spy 11:04 18 September 2005 Surprisingly it was rated 18+ ultimiteley. - Z.Spy 12:47 26 September 05

the game has come out...

ans alot of the information on this page is now in accurate it should be re-written by someone who has the game...

It's not out until the 4th in the UK.
Correct. This is for Europe and New Zealand get it last. -- Thorpe talk 17:56, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Custom tracks?

There is also word of custom tracks (i.e being able to listen to your own music in the car of this game)

Should we add this?

Spacetimecont 04:43, 28 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It's now been added. -- Thorpe talk 21:46, 28 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Multiplayer

I created a section on the side missions but this has now been put into another section (multiplayer). Needs to be fixed. -- Thorpe talk 21:46, 28 October 2005 (UTC) [reply]

The last two minigame descriptions read like an advertisement for the game IMHO.

Side missions

I've decided to hide the entire section, under the grounds that this section is totally out of place in this article. In addition to listing non-essential missions, it knocks the article's proportionality of content out of balance. This section is better suited in Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories's Wikibooks page, but certainly not here. The most that should be mentioned in this article about these missions is in a form of a brief paragraph, like Grand Theft Auto III.

I've also taken the liberty of adding an empty Wikibooks link. It's perfect for writing a game walkthrough. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 00:42, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikibooks

Before adding a Wikibooks link please at least create a short book rather than just having an empty link. --Thorpe | talk 07:58, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies, this move was largely motivated by my misinterpretation of Wikipedia:External links. I've taken the liberty of inserting starter content for the Wikibooks article and returned the Wikibooks link, as well as doing the same for GTA III and Vice City's Wikibooks articles. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 14:15, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PS2 Release Date

I have edited section 0. I edited the release dates for the PS2. The release date for the US PS2 version has been confirmed to be sometime in April by Rockstar Games. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gamerzworld (talkcontribs)

Could you provide a source to this announcement? Unless I see this coming from Rockstar themselves, the PS2 released is still stands as rumors. I don't even see Take-Two mention of the release as creditable confirmation that the game would be released for the PS2. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 17:58, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PSP or PS2?

Better than San Andreas?

Is this game is going to be better than S.A.? Like on the graphics, loading time, & gameplay. MarioV 21:37, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is the question referring to the PS2 version? Because we have no detail on that version yet. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 09:37, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, on the PS2 version. MarioV 21:12, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Graphics aren't as good since it was ported from a portable- and the smaller city is divided up as it was in III, so there are load times between the islands. The gameplay is very similar to Vice City for the PS2, with a few things from SA thrown in the mix. As for the rest of the game- it's all a matter of opinion. If you liked the previous GTAs, though, I'm sure you'll like this one. -albrozdude 02:44, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This page has far too many links. I deleted a number of them, and someone put them back, commenting that they were "official teaser sites". I don't know why that is justification for including them—this is an encyclopedia article, not a fan site. One of these teasers isn't even a live web site, it just shows the Apache placeholder! I suggest you read What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:External links. The practice is to link to an official site, and a few other sites that contain useful information not in the article, plus maybe one fan site. This article has almost forty external links!!! I think almost all of them should go. —johndburger 11:54, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Most of the fansites and blank teaser site have to go. I'm still doubtful of the modding links, though. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 16:53, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think that the teaser sites serve purpose. If a new fan of the series comes to this article, they would appreciate being able to see the teaser sites and get background information on the game from them. The links that probably should be removed are; "GTALCS.com - Part of the GTA Central Network", "Liberty City Stories at Codename GTA", "The GTA Underground", "PlanetGrandTheftAuto", "GTA Forums", "GTAstunters", "GTA: Liberty City Stories at StrategyWiki", "# Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories at The Internet Movie Database", and maybe "FreeCoq". Gold Stur 02:37, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The teaser sites are fun, but I disagree that they provide any actual information on the game—they're just ads, set up by the game manufacturer, right? Also, for the fan sites, someone knowledgeable should pick one, maybe two, and zap the rest. —johndburger 17:37, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, way too many external links on the page. Fan sites should be limited to just one or two, see WP:EL. Probably a good use of DMOZ if the links for the article want grouping together. --Oscarthecat 20:09, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I applaud Gold Stur for slimming down the fansites a bit. Let's see if we can get it down to one, per the guidelines! Barring that, the descriptors should be expanded to explain what unique additional value each of them has over the article. —johndburger 15:24, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the cleanup tag on the links section a moment ago:

  • Fansites: I really like the idea of simply linking to Google as opposed to listing a dozen fansites.
  • Game resources: Another great section- concise, free of spam, and referencing reliable sources.
  • Teaser sites: I see no reason not to link to all of the teaser sites. The WP article for every recent GTA game has teaser site links; the reason for this is that said sites are in important part of the GTA universe (which is why Rockstar makes half a dozen of them for each game). To me, they're certainly significant enough to have links in this article. -- Kicking222 22:09, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
??? I just don't get it—"no reason not to" is not a reason to do so. The idea is to be conservative about external links. Can someone please explain, with reference to specific sections of WP:EL, what unique content these external sites provide. Give me an example of an important fact about the game that I can learn by visiting a particular site. And please don't say that you can't play the game without these sites. The article is not here to help people play the game. —johndburger 22:33, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Current boxart.

The use of the current boxart image in the cvg infobox doesn't seem appropriate. The PSP was the original platform for the game, and the PSP boxart is significantly different from that of the PS2 (black borders and increased height). Displaying a PS2 boxart suggestively implies that the PS2 version is more notable than the PSP version (when this has yet to be verified). One could reinstate the previous PSP boxart to the infobox and place the PS2 boxart in a dedicated PS2 section (from which the section could compare in-game differences and reception of the game). ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 20:31, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I took the liberty of switching the images. The PSP version is more important than its PS2 counterpart. And come to think of it, do we even need the PS2 version boaxart? It's really just wasting space. Gold Stur 22:32, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Difference's Between GTAIII and GTA:LCS Page?

I suggest making a page dedicated solely to the differences made. Make the link on the main LCS page (And maybe even the GTA3 page) just like someone has done with the characters, and a whole list (maybe a table) of differences between the 2. For example 'Luigi's Sex Club Seven in GTA3 is now Paulie's Revue Bar in GTA:LCS' I just thought it'd be a good idea.. Can anyone approve of this and I'll start writing it up, and help would be appreciated. Cpudestroyer 17:29, 2 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Theme Song (March Popakov Remix)

Somebody needs to fit in that the aformentioned song is the theme song by John Cacavas.

Several sources indicate that the theme is also performed by DJ Danger Mouse (or is it Danger Mouse?), and is alternatively titled "A Dark March" in in-game credits. "March Popakov Remix" is the title given in the game's manual. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 18:55, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Does anyone know what rating GTA Libery city stories got and criticism?

Unrealistic Crime Rates

I think that for the sake of society at large and today's youth there should be some kind of mention of the fact that this game isn't doing enough to show the true implications of violence and it let's people loose with a machine gun, real- life crime isn't as simple and shooting fifty people in one go.

I don't want to kill the fun for anyone but a lot of young people who don't have a real grasp of such violence as is depicted in this type of video game are thinking, quite genuinely, that such things as 100 people being killed in one go and gangsters carrying explosives and rocket launchers exist and it can't be good.

A lot of talk about the controversy of this game and others in the GTA series has been sparked, with the general tone that the actual number of murders a player can commit should be curbed because yes it's great fun to commit crimes and steal cars but it's turning murder into a hobby on this game, it would be different it you only murdered when it was necessary in the storyline, but I've seen people play the game and literally spend hours using a rocket launcher to wipe out waves of innocent people, gang members and police officers and it's surely having a negative impact on today's youth who're primarily the ones playing it. – unsigned (82.13.23.162)

I think what you're suggesting leads into subjective analysis and a clear violation of Wikipedia's NPOV policy. But I'll address your concerns for the sake of discussion.
Rockstar has addressed this issue before and have said that the game isn't all about murdering people for fun's sake. A player doesn't have to kill innocent people, steal vehicles or destroy anything. That is all up to the player how s/he wishes to play. Also, the game isn't a blood-soaked playground where no ramifications are felt. If a player commits a crime s/he becomes wanted by the police. The worst the crime and greater the authories' effort to apprehend the player, which can be anything from being arrested to being killed, all the while being bombarded throughout the city.
The game is clearly rated M and only people 18 or older should play the game. It's not up to Rockstar or game publishers to raise anyone's children. People who cocern themselves with the implication this is having on young people fail to see that parents should raise and teace their own children, concern themselves with what their children do, watch, listen to, etc. If a parent allows his/her children to play a violent video game is obviously a parent who either lacks the drive to teach their children or is ignorant of what their children do, or knows about it and allows that behavior to continue. I'm more concerned with parents who make the decision to create children but don't have the passion to raise them. - Throw 08:07, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
