This article does not seem to cover the Vacuum Fuel Pump, a device uses the difference in pressure between the fuel reservoir and the intake manifold, drawing the fuel from and delivering it to the carburretor. Perhaps someone might like to address this topic? Arrivisto (talk) 12:28, 28 July 2024 (UTC)

: An early device like the Autovac isn't a vacuum pump though. It's a fuel pump, driven by a vacuum that already exists in the manifold (owing to the Bernoulli effect of the carburettor venturi).

Vacuum fuel pump

[edit]

This article does not seem to cover the Vacuum Fuel Pump, a device that uses the difference in pressure between the fuel reservoir and the intake manifold, drawing the fuel from and delivering it to the carburretor. Perhaps someone might like to address this topic? Arrivisto (talk) 12:28, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

An early device like the Autovac isn't a vacuum pump though. It's a fuel pump, driven by a vacuum that already exists in the manifold (owing to the Bernoulli effect of the carburettor venturi).
This same manifold depression also makes the carburettor itself work, drawing a jet of fuel from the float chamber and the jet by means of the lowered pressure. But this isn't a pump either. Andy Dingley (talk) 20:59, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
