Harvest Moon:The Island I grew up on (known in Japan as Bokujou Monogatari: Kimi to Sodatsu Shima) is a farm simulation video game published and developed by Marvelous Interactive Inc. in Japan, and set to release in North America by Natsume for the Nintendo DS handheld video game console. It is the latest video game in the Harvest Moon series.

Plot

The main character (either Mark or Chelsea), Taro (the father of Fealena), Fealena (the mother of Natalie and Eric and daughter of Taro), Natalie (the daughter), and Eric (the son) have been stranded on a deserted island with some signs of past life there. To deal with this crisis, the main character and the family of four start a farm on the island. As the player's farm develops, a town develops with the farm, with citizens moving in targeted into ranching/agriculture services.

Gameplay and features

All movement and actions are performed via the touch screen, with the four face buttons (or alternatively the D-pad) being used to select and/or equip tools and items. This game uses the Nintendo WiFi service for a farm ranking service, and a voice chat session using the DS's built-in microphone.

Marriage candidates

There are six characters to choose from for each gender. Four of them (Mark, Shiba, Chelsea, and the Witch), have no rival.

Bachelorettes

  • Natalie (Natari)- Crashes on the island with you. Eric's sister. Rival: Pierre
  • Julia (Juria)- Moves in automatically on the 12th of spring. Daughter of the Animal shop owner. Rival: Eric
  • Lily (Riri)- Moves in a couple days after Danny. An ex-idol who came to the island to recover from a broken heart. Rival: Danny

  • Witch (Majosama)- The Witch from the Harvest Moon DS game. Appears after crossing the second bridge.
  • Chelsea (Cherushi)- Moves in after all other main characters appear, along with other requirements. The female protagonist.

  • Valts (Barutsu)- Comes to the island on the 16th of spring. Only visits the island on Wednesdays and Thursdays. An exotic animal dealer. Rival: Ceffina
  • Danny (Dani)- Moves in after catching a certain number of fish. Rival: Lily
  • Pierre (Pieru)- Moves in after learning 3 recipes. The 8th generation of the gourmets. Rival: Natalie
