Images at WP:WPHP

Sorry, I was unclear. I meant in the template {{WPHP}}, should we add something to the class function so that we could write {{WPHP|class=image}}? Currently, as you've tagged it, it says "this article", but it's not article. --Fbv65edel / ☑t / ☛c || 22:25, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

My Request for Adminship

Thanks for contributing to my RfA! Thank you for your support in my my RfA, which passed with a tally of 117/0/1. I hope that my conduct as an admin lives up to the somewhat flattering confidence the community has shown in me. Thank you for asking that question regarding fair use imagery, it both helped to clarify it in my own head and hopefully my answers helped you as well (I notice you have made a few minor errors in that area in the past). Please don't hesitate to leave a message on my talk page should you need anything or want to discuss something with me.--Nilfanion (talk) 16:25, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

WP:ADOPT

Hi there,

As a user looking to Adopt with the Adopt-a-User program, there has been some ongoing developments that we would like to bring to your attention, as well as request help with the backlog at Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user.

You should know that the way the adoption process works has changed slightly. To decrease workload at Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user on offering adoption please change the {{Adoptme}} template to {{Adoptoffer}} on the user's user page, and this will add the user to Category:Wikipedians having been offered adoption. Users that have already been offered adoption can always have a second or third offer, but by separating out those users that have not had an adoption offer yet, it is hoped that no one will go lacking. Once adoption is complete please use the templates found here on the Adoptee's and your user page.

Also numerous Adopters have been adding their details to a list of users available for adopting, to offer a more personalised service and allow new users to browse through and pick their own Adopter. The quickest way to adopt though, is still to contact users at the Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user.

Furthermore a new Adopter's Area has been created where you can find useful resources and other Adopter's experiences. Please feel free to add any resources you have and if you know of any useful resources for new users / Adoptees then you can add them here.

So I hope you get adopting soon - and if you have any general questions or suggestions about the further development of Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User please bring them to our talk page. Cheers Lethaniol 15:16, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

I'm breaking my wikibreak to ask you this...

RFA

Regarding your recent post on my talk page, is there any specific reason you want adminship? Respond wherever you want. I've got this page watched.

I think I fixed your new talk page section link above. You've got some old messages here. Cheers!--Kchase T 11:46, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

There are several reasons that I want adminship. I think that Wikipedia always could use more honest and hardworking people to do what is needed around here. Too often, admins are accused of misusing their powers, or of lying to regular users. I don't think any of that would happen to me. I am learning the policies of this place, which is stuff I didn't know when I first went up. The people who critisize Wikipedia often say that because there is so much vandalism, its unreliable. Admins need to stop making people think they're the boss, and actually get working and sweep this place up. Because, in the end, we all came here to give one of the best gifts anybody can ever give or get: free knowledge.--CJ King 20:18, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
I think most of the admin corps are pretty decent, but to each his own. As long as you will be a good candidate, most people agree we need more (good) sysops.--Kchase T 12:20, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Newyorkbrad's RfA

Thank you for your support on my RfA, which closed favorably this morning, as well as for your kind comments accompanying your !vote. I appreciate the confidence the community has placed in me and am looking forward to my new responsibilities. Please let me know if ever you have any comments or suggestions, especially as I am learning how to use the tools. Best regards, Newyorkbrad 20:14, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Admin coaching

Hi CJ. I saw that your name is high on the list over at the admin coaching request page. Would you still like a coach? My coachee just became an admin, so I'm free. Let me know, Fang Aili talk 15:44, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Sockpuppet

Hi mate,

Thank you for your envouraging messege on my talk page regarding the alleged sockpuppet. However, I do not know hwere to go from here. I did try and contact the editor who said that the DownDaRoad account was not to be allowed - see here however he would not give any explanation as to why I could not use the account anymore and just said "Why do you think you need multiple accounts? Just edit under your normal account"

Here is the initial thread here.

I have never denied the DownDaRoad was not a sock of mine and I believe I used the account inside the policy guidelines and for good not bad and I feel like this is being used by others namely Logoistic to blacken my name.

What should/can I do exactly?--Vintagekits 20:44, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

As you can see here others also seem to think that he is using it as a scarlet letter!--Vintagekits 20:46, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Please see [[1]] for the reasoning why the accountwas blocked - the claim "he would not give any explanation" is false. Logoistic 18:26, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
It should be restored, I didnt break any rules.--Vintagekits 18:30, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
this is where I am refering to when I said no explanation was given.--Vintagekits 18:33, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
But plenty of explanation was given in the initial thread. Did you forget about this? Logoistic 18:44, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
He stated that before I was even aware what was going on, when I explained what actually happened then no explanation was given, which you know full well!--Vintagekits 18:46, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Cyde stated clearly in the discussion why the account was blocked. Please feel free to re-read it.Logoistic 18:48, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
The issues were never addressed--Vintagekits 19:08, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Kingy, sorry about turning your talk page inot a forum, that was not my intention, however, Logistic is basically wikistalking me and seems to have succeeded again here! again sorry--Vintagekits 20:09, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
I apologise, but felt the need to respond to false claims made, especially when they referred to myself so explicitly. Logoistic 20:11, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Natesallieruinedforordinary.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Natesallieruinedforordinary.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. No problem, and thanks for the encouragement. I enjoy keeping the site clean. That vandal's been reported and given a good one-week vacation courtesy of the admins. Well, happy editing and feel free to drop me a line if I can be of anymore help. --Ann Stouter 04:08, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Novels newsletter : Issue IX - February 2007

The Novels WikiProject Newsletter
Issue IX - February 2007
Project news
  • The month has been a quiet one for the project with little obvious interaction, although editors have been very busy working on article improvement, recategorisation, and assessments. The Short story task force have been slowly adding staff and working mostly in the early stages to tag existing "short story" and "short story collection" articles.
Member news
  • The project has currently 204 members, 13 joined & 1 leavers since the last newsletter at the start of January 2007
Other news
  • The Short story task force now has 6 participants, do join in if you have an interest. Also do let us know if other Task Forces could be established.
Auto list news
  • NovelsInCompleteInfobox worklist has been worked through, mainly due to the efforts of Jask99; it has now only the most difficult to complete. Please give it a look and if you can complete an infobox, please do. We should soon get a rerun with the latest article additions generated courtesy of user Eagle.

Worklist "Projectified"

These two lists have been culled from the main Wikipedia but others thought they would serve as a good worklist for the project to use as article hitlist, so they are here for your pleasure.

From the Members

Welcome to the ninth issue of the Novels WikiProject's newsletter! Use this newsletter as a mechanism to inform yourselves about progress at the project and please be inspired to take more active roles in what we do.

We would encourage all members to get more envolved and if you are wondering what with, please ask.

Newsletter challenge

Last months Fictional locations challenge was met by the user Loom91 (talk · contribs) with a modest start that rapidly got expanded a short stub that survived tagging for deletion and then expanding by a number of editors to something quite useful. Along the way it got (correctly!) renamed to Fictional location.
