Return

Rey returned, not really "returned", but made an apperence on Smackdown! on Febuary 23, 2007. He was going to update us on his condition. He did say that things were moving faster than he could ever hope and that he will be back in the ring soon. But Mr. McManhon interupted him, and then sicked Umaga on him. After Umaga jumped off the tope rope onto Rey's injured knee, Rey was put on a stretcher(sp?) and was taken out of the arena.Gundam94 17:07, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Umaga attack

As of right now, The article claims that Umaga reinjured Mysterio. As far as i knew, he was still injured, and the attack by umaga did not reinjure him whatsoever. Someone should correct this.

did he really get injured again? or was it just kayfabe? J.C. 01:54, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Twas all kayfabe. Benzin 14:59, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

it was fake, that wuld be very stupid to use a injurd man to get his knee attacked. too rough and he wuld be out of action forever —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 222.154.47.7 (talk) 08:20:26, August 19, 2007 (UTC)

2007

"Rey's scheduled return was on mid-March, but because of Umaga and Vince's attack, his return will be the month of summerslam where he will most likely be fighting Vince McMahon" is speculation. I've removed the part about a possible match with Vince McMahon. Koberulz 15:20, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rey might go to ecw as a spin off of his umaga attack as the ecw champ.

I changed rey's 2007 part to:full in ring Return date unknown, okay?Hbkfan320 08:23, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No. Leave it off. Darrenhusted 10:29, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Benoit's doctor giving him steroids?

It is believed that Rey Mysterio may have received steroids from Dr. Astin, the former doctor of Chris Benoit

This is in the article under the 2007 sub section. Anything to support this or is it just weak vandalism? First I've heard of it.

I've read this...not sure how reliable, though.

Gossip site TMZ.com "has learned that current WWE SmackDown wrestler Rey Mysterio (real name: Oscar Gutierrez) and former WWE wrestler Mark Jindrak, are the two other wrestlers named in an indictment against Dr. Phil Astin" according to a new report on the site (thanks to Ellie for sending a link to the story to us). This jibes with previous reports that prescriptions were written by Dr. Astin for wrestlers named "OG" and "MJ." Here are the specific indictments, from an earlier news post:

- April 2004: provided percocet, vicoprofen, and xanax to "M.J. in Carrollton"
- July 2004: provided percocet, lorcet, and xanax to "M.J. in Carrollton"
- October 2004: provided percocet, lorcet, vicoprofen, and xanax to "M.J. in Carrollton"
- March 2005: provided percocet to "O.G. in Carrollton"
- March 2005: provided percocet and lorcet to "M.J. in Carrollton"
- July 2005: provided adderall, percocet, and lorcet to "M.J. in Carrollton"

- September 2005: provided percocet and lorcet to "O.G. in Carrollton"

Return and GAB

Rey Mysterio will make a scheduled return on the June 9th, 2007th edition of RAW in a 6 man tag team match teaming with John Cena, and Bobby Lashley vs. King Booker, Randy Orton, and Umaga [2] The Great American Bash will feature Double Main Events: Bobby Lashley vs. John Cena for the WWE Championship and Rey Mysterio vs. Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship [3] J.C. 06:48, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

June 9th was a month ago and Rey mysterio will make his return soon. The Great Kahli is the new World Heavyweight and will face Batista and Kane in a triple threat match at the Great American Bash.

Injury match

I cannot quite remember where I've heard it or read it or what have you, but I recall taking in some information that the match with Chavo used to explain Rey's disappearance was a "Loser Leaves Smackdown" match, yet in the article it says he lost an "I Quit" match. I recall the stipulation being that to lose, you had to say the aforementioned two words ("I quit"), and considering the fact that promos just aired last night for his return on Smackdown, I doubt a bit at my question: did the match also have the stipulation that the loser of the match would leave Smackdown? Considering the promos, I doubt it, and I question if this is an error on the part of the source that I read/watched it from or if it's an error in the article and should be included (or, even then, if it should not be included if it happened and was retconned or forgotten by WWE). - Ken Xiraka 14:43, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

move to raw

is rey mysterio moving to raw?  Sub!  01:19, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Considering promos airing this past Friday night, I do not think he's moving to RAW. I actually read somewhere about a plan that might happen that he be facing Edge at The Great American Bash for the World Heavyweight Championship, but I'm not sure how likely that is (nor do I think Rey would win, since I read that Edge had been told he was in for a long title reign, like 'Taker was promised before he got injured). As I've read, the plans were originally for him to work a program with Vince at either the Bash or at, like, SummerSlam, perhaps stemming from how Vince and Umaga attacked him when he made his post-surgery appearance, but recent events dictate that this is not going to happen. Unless plans change last-minute (which is always a possibility), Rey is staying on Smackdown. As it is, I think that if they wanted to move Rey to RAW, they'd have done it during the draft, but even then I don't think it'd have happened. Too many faces on RAW and not enough heels (Especially main event-level heels), which is why they got Booker, Snitsky, and Ken. - Ken Xiraka 01:56, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Right now, SmackDown! needs more Main-Eventers because their roster is really weak. Rey is scheduled to make a return to WWE on the July 9th edition of RAW, where he'll team up with Bobby Lashley, and John Cena vs. Umaga, King Booker, and Randy Orton.

Smackdown may need more main-eventers, but with RAW as the flagship show, they need the better roster right there. Smackdown could use some more main-eventers, but RAW has to be consistent with their talent as it's more important to WWE than Smackdown is. Perhaps Chuck Palumbo, who re-debuted in WWE just this past Friday, might be rushed up to the top card if he isn't squashing lower-carders. He seems talented enough and he's a ten-year ring veteran... With Rey returning, though, things should look to be awesome for Smackdown again. We'll just have to see what the future holds. *Shrug*
This is all irrelevant. Please don't use this as a forum to speculate. --Dave. 13:37, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
...
On the match that Rey is said to be in, isn't that a dark match (dark match main event, considering those involved), though? True, it would be his return match, but if it's a dark match, then it wouldn't be televised. - Ken Xiraka 05:29, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think the 6 man tag match is gonna be a dark match...it's a main event, and aren't dark matches usually the lowest on the card?? With Undertaker and Rey coming back to smackdown, i think it'll be equal ( almost ).

Eh... whoops '^^ Apologies, Dave. - Ken Xiraka 04:49, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Surely Mysterio has to return to Smackdown! due to the fact he is a cruiserweight and the cruiserweight division is on Smackdown! Benzin 14:59, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just to clarify about the dark match issue, there's usually at least one dark match AFTER the taping takes place. It's a match done just for the live crowd that usually involves the top heels & faces at the time and is a loose continuation of storylines. Th 2005 02:45, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

but Rey often wrestles with bigger opponents like Mark Henry and JBL (though he rarely wins). So theres no reason he has to be with the cruiserweight division

return

isnt he returning at gab? why is there no mention in the article?

that would be just a rumor

did he return in the dark match of smackdown ? 69.207.179.119 17:05, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why the hell would Batista, Finlay and MVP be wrestling in dark matches??? Mjtwh 22:36, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

the article says it was 69.207.179.119 00:10, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So? That doesn't mean it's reliable! 74.101.41.27 15:53, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

well it was a dark match!! 69.207.179.119 13:23, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I read the SMACKDOWN spoilers for this week's show (August 3 in the United States), and during the show, it was announced that Rey Mysterio will face Chavo Guerrero at Summerslam. Unless he appears before then, I would expect Rey's return to be Summerslam. Source: http://nodq.com/wwe/187945995.shtml — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.30.14.170 (talkcontribs)

West Cost pop is not one of his moves anymore

I read in WWE mag. that he said quote "Over the last few months I've droped alot of my moves ,like west cost pop." So i will be taking it of

He has used it as a finisher in the past so it should be included. Tywddle 21:19, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A little late, I know, but worth mentioning; it's back now, as witnessed on the 2 Nov. edition of SmackDown! , acknowledged by commentators as he used it to pick up the win against Jamie Noble. RAW Set

In this article, it states that Rey was stuck on the RAW stage set when his leg was hit many times with the chair. But in this recent article on WWE.com, it states that it was a Smackdown lighting structure. Should this article be changed or remain the same? --Stotheb2010 13:33, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It was a supershow taping, so the RAW set was redecorated as the SD set, both are correct. Darrenhusted 16:03, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

SummerSlam

Ok i personnally think that the info about him having three SS matches against a Guerrero is a important piece of trivia. I want to discuss this. Does anyone agree?Wrestlinglover420 16:45, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Are you going to go through and tell me how many times he has faced every wrestler at evry PPV (he faced Kidman at Souled Out once, he faced Dean Malenko at Halloween Havoc once etc). No, so leave out he faced Chavo twice and Eddie once, he also faced Matt Hardy at Wrestlemania once but are you adding that? It does not fit with the MoS for bios, leave it out unless you can reference it then feel free to add it in. Darrenhusted 17:03, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The fact that he will have had three matches at SS against the Guerreros is relevant trivia. It has nothing to do with how many matches or whatever your rambling about. You dont make the consensus.Wrestlinglover420 18:21, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You need to read WP:TRIVIA. Darrenhusted 18:24, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is really not notable at all. --Dave. 20:36, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Trivia or not, Vickie Gurerro made the match at SS for Rey Mysterio. Isn't that his return match? If so, it should be noted as such, and not ignored. --Stotheb2010 13:17, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
after the match occured. Diivoo 14:15, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The 619 picture

Dont you think they should take the picture of the 619 off and replace it with someone other then the late great eddie guerrero

Why whats wrong with it?

Just because Eddie Guerrero is dead that does not mean the picture should not have him featured in it. It is not meant to show any disrespect to him if that is how you feel. It is simply just showing the move. Tywddle 12:29, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ALERT!!: Rey MISTERIO JR.

This Rey Mysterio is the nephew of Rey Mysterio Sr., but Rey Mysterio Sr.'s son is Rey M"i"sterio Jr., similar to WWE's Rey Mysterio Jr., but its another Rey Misterio, and WWE is trying to get him to come to WWE.

I know its confusing but its like this,

Rey Mysterio Sr.> (Uncle Of WWE's Rey Mysterio)

(Also Father of Rey Misterio Jr., another Rey Misterio, non related to
                 WWE's Mysterio).

I believe there should be a seperate article on Sniors son, or he should be mentioned in WWE's Rey Mysterio article or Seniors article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Truko9308 (talkcontribs) 15:46, August 26, 2007 (UTC)

  • First off, yes a seperate article should be made. Also the Misterio jr would be Mysterios Nephew or Cousin or something like that, so the little thing about him not being related to WWEs Mysterio is wrong. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fisha695 (talkcontribs) 21:31, August 26, 2007 (UTC)

West Coast Pop

This is what is currently listed in Rey's moveset:

West Coast Pop (Springboard Seated Senton)

The West Coast Pop I believe is a springboard hurricanrana into a pin, not a seated senton. Why was it changed? 172.215.46.78 22:41, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

I really dislike Rey, but I've just had to revert god knows how much vandalism on this page. Is there no kind of protection, at least from unregistered users that can be implemented? I wouldn't mind, but it ain't even funny vandalism (and believe me there IS such a thing!) Holypeanut 17:02, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, its pretty ridiculous. For the past week every time I logged in and checked my watchlist I've found & reverted vandalism in this article. Th 2005 17:50, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cruiserweight titles

Okay, is it 8 or 3 reigns? I'd always assumed that even though the current WWE Cruiserweight title is combined with the WCW Cruiserweight title and old WWF Light heavyweight title, they're treated as seperate titles in the history of the championship - similar to what was done with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, which was the former WCW Heavyweight championship. On his WWE.com bio page they make multiple references to his, quote, "eight Cruiserweight championships". However, I'd taken this as meaning eight different championships since it doesn't explicitly say "eight WWE Cruiserweight Championships". What's the verdict? Th 2005 19:39, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

3 time wwe Cruiserweight Champion, 5 times wcw Cruiserweight Champion 5 of them where in wcw only 3 in wwe but 8 i total. Its on his detalied tittle history on wwe.com http://www.wwe.com/superstars/smackdown/reymysterio/detailedtitlehistory Roosterrulez 23:45, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kudos. At the time I posted the original message, people kept changing his WWE Cruiserweight championship reigns from 3 to 8. Th 2005 00:47, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
