Is there a reason that the Pinkhearts sessions were omitted from the bootleg bit?

Someone might want to consider putting something together on songs he's contributed to other artists, as Tim McGraw is doing rather well with "When The Stars Go Blue" right now (which is rather a shift from Timmy's usual style). (User:Tony Fox)

Derogatis sentence

New Songs on Website??

On Adams' new webiste, there is a section called "cardinal radio" which enables you to play thru a few albums... there is one "album" there called "you are the audience"... with a bunch of weird songs... that i've never heard before... is this new material or am i just not that big a fan? ? if so, wiki should be updated -Amo

Yes, Adams recently released 11 new albums on his website. Read about it [here][1] I propose we add a section to the page covering this, as releasing 11 new albums at once is unheard of.

Improvements / to-do list

I'm planning to do a lot of work on this article over the next couple of days. Here's everything I can think of that needs to be done:

1. Biography. Replace Musical career and personal life with a Biography section. For example, see Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen.
2. Cleanup. Merge "Working with..." and Trivia sections into Biography.
3. Elizabethtown. There is only one paragraph about this. It's not worth having a separate section heading for it -- why is Elizabethtown more notable than any of the other TV shows/movies to feature Ryan's work?
4. Cardinal Radio. As above, the 11 "albums" uploaded to his web site aren't all that notable. High quantity, low quality. Not criticising his work, but we don't need a separate section heading for this.
5. Songs Featured in Television and Film. For someone as prolific as Ryan Adams, it's not notable that his work is used all over the place. This list of TV shows and movies featuring his songs isn't all that useful. Suggest removing it.
6. Early life. There is no information in the main article about Ryan's life before 1994. A couple of paragraphs about the first twenty years of his life would be useful.
7. References. The article uses two different styles for citing sources; I suggest changing to use only ref tags. We also need to fix all the unsourced statements -- if it can't be verified it should be removed.
8. Rewrite lead. Make sure that this conforms to WP:LEAD.
9. General copyediting.

In merging the trivia section, I've removed a lot of stuff which I don't think is notable enough to be included in an encyclopedia. In particular I'd like to bring attention to the "Adams has a reputation for his unstable temperament." bit -- I don't think anything listed there is all that important, though perhaps I'm not being completely objective about that. If others feel those incidents should be mentioned, they should be added to the main biography in the appropriate places. Adam McMaster 23:24, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

I've done most of what I want to do, though there's still some gaps in the bio I'm planning on filling. I really want to replace the photo in the infobox, 'cause the one that's there isn't very clear. Bryan Adams

Yes that did happen. It was mentioned in the Trivia section before I removed it -- I'm not sure if him throwing the guy out is important enough to be mentioned by itself, but it could be added to the bio with some info about his mother's illness at the time (since that was a contributing factor to his reaction). References will be needed, of course -- I imagine NME.com or somewhere like that will have suitable reports from the time. Adam McMaster 11:03, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

I was thinking along the lines of him making a music career with a similar sounding name to Bryan Adams. Obviously, he took offense to the comment, and likely would not have done so had someone just yelled "freebird". That's why I was thinking it might have been significant. Removed sentence

I made a relatively small edit, removing one sentence. The sentence, which followed the reference to Deadheads criticising Adams, read: "Ironically, many of the criticisms levelled by this small group involved Adams' perceived substance abuse, a dubious plea from a group that has embraced the culture of drugs and alcohol so openly." This seems to me non-objective, taking sides with Adams against the critics. It also seems slightly inaccurate. I have read many of these criticisms, and their point was that his substance abuse led to missed cues and botched lyrics at these concerts. That is different from druggies criticizing Adams for being a druggie.Djl.27182 22:10, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

2007 State Theatre Performance

On Thursday September 27, 2007 the singer-guitarist complained about the sound monitors onstage at the State Theatre in Minneapolis. At one point, he actually moved two monitors, his microphone and his guitar pedals.

After 70 minutes he'd had enough. He announced "the last song" and didn't return for an encore. Many fans stood and booed.

Also in Minneapolis, in 2003, Adams gave a notoriously bad performance at First Avenue, a rambling two-hour show where he griped about the sound system, played several songs twice and lambasted local rock legend Paul Westerberg

I'm not sure that it's worth keeping the "Equipment problems" section – I don't think it's notable enough. (Look at it this way, in five or ten years who's going to care that he got angry on stage at a particular performance?) At the very least, those two paragraphs should be rewritten for neutrality and merged into the rest of the article instead of being separate. Adam McMaster 09:07, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

Failed at Life?

Why yes, Ryan Adams has failed at life. He looks like a fetus. We went to his show and he did nothing but complain. He demanded a Red Bull every song. There was a fifteen minute intermission, even though he was the only act! He also demanded that everyone be silent during his songs. Every time someone talked, he stopped playing and yelled at the crowd. The only talent he had was the ability to sing, smoke, drink, and play guitar simultaneously.
