Warriors Orochi: Rebirth of the Demon Lord (無双OROCHI魔王再臨, Musō Orochi Maō Sairin) is an upcoming sequel to Warriors Orochi, a crossover video game of the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors series. The game is under development by Koei and Omega Force. It is set to be released for the PlayStation 2 in Japan on April 3, 2008.
New characters
As of March 2008, 11 new characters have been announced along with all the characters in the previous game returning, including five characters new to the Warriors franchise.
For the first time since Dynasty Warriors 3, Fu Xi and Nu Wa[1] are playable, complete with updated character models. Additionally, because this game is released after Samurai Warriors 2: Xtreme Legends, Imagawa Yoshimoto's updated character model, Sasaki Kojiro, Shibata Katsuie, Maeda Toshiie, Chosokabe Motochika and Gracia[1] are now included.
The five new characters announced so far:
- Taigong Wang[1], a legendary military strategist from the Zhou Dynasty of China
- Taira no Kiyomori[1], a military general from the Heian Period of Japan
- Minamoto no Yoshitsune[1], also a military general from the Heian Period on the opposing side of Kiyomori's.
- The Monkey King Sun Wukong[1], from Journey to the West, one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature (which includes Romance of the Three Kingdoms).
- Himiko[2], the ancient shaman queen known for her relationship with the Kingdom of Wei of China.
Along with the previous 79 characters, the roster of Warriors Orochi: Rebirth of the Demon Lord exceeds 90 characters. And unlike the first game, Rebirth of the Demon Lord will feature different costumes for each character instead of palette swaps. For example, Zhuge Liang will be able to wear his Dynasty Warriors 4 costume.
