Jayam Ravi (Tamil : ஜெயம் ரவி) (born on September 10 1980 in Chennai, India) is a Tamil Cinema actor. Jayam Ravi is the upcoming star of Tamil Cinema. He debuted with "Jayam" released in 2002 produced by his father editor Mohan and directed by his brother M. Raja. He is a martial arts expert and a trained dancer. After completing his degree in Visual Communication from Loyola College Chennai, he decided to get into the acting industry.

Background

His father is Mohan, an editor, his mother is Varalakshmi. His mother tongue is telugu. He has one brother, M. Raja, who is a successful director, and a sister, Roja, who is a dentist. Ravi was first schooled at Jawahar Vidyalaya in Ashok Nagar, Chennai and later at the Loyola College, Chennai, and earned a Bachelor degree in Visual Communications. He studied dancing with the Bharatnatyam dancer Nalini Balakrishnan and performed his arrangetram (debut) when he was twelve years old. He has also undergone training in acting with Kishore Namit Kapur Institute, Mumbai.He is a martial arts expert and a trained dancer. After completing his degree in Visual Communication from Loyola College Chennai, he decided to get into the acting industry.

Career

Jayam Ravi is one hero who has the conventional good looks and has undergone all formal training to become an actor. He debuted with Jayam, a remake of the Telugu movie Jayam released in 2002 produced by his father Editor Mohan and directed by his brother M. Raja. (Hence, the name 'Jayam' Ravi.) His next venture was M. Kumaran son of Mahalakshmi, a remake of the Telugu movie Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi in 2004. Then came Daas which was followed by Mazhai, a remake of the Telugu movie Varsham. His next was Idhaya Thirudan under director Saran. Something Something ... Unakkum Enakkum , the remake of the Telugu hit Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana which hit the screens in July 2006 turned out to be a big hit. Trisha Krishnan reprised her role in the Tamil version alongside Ravi in the film. With the magical combination of the director-brother duo, the success was repeated. His last release, on 9 February, 2007 was with actress Bhavana in the film Deepavali. The film was directed by Ezhil and this film was also the maiden production venture of successful director Lingusamy. It was a moderate hit. Now, Ravi finished the movie Santosh Subramaniam under his lucky mascot and brother M. Raja's direction. This film released in April 2008. His next movie, Dhaam Dhoom, which is the last directorial venture of the late cinematographer-director Jeeva is expected to release soon.[citation needed]
