== Sales in Australia ==

After only 3 days of release, Wii Fit was able to beat out both PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of GTA IV and thus became the top-selling game across all platforms in Australia in the week ending 11th May. http://www.palgn.com.au/article.php?id=11516 is the source. Can someone edit this into the Sales section of the article? Thanks. Hmm, that article was just redirected here, someone should probably pull the quotes in from there to make for better sourcing? McKay 18:06, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Wii Fit"?

Surely this page needs to be renamed and moved to "Wii Fit", with a space inbetween "Wii" and "Fit", per other Wii Series games, such as "Wii Sports" and "Wii Play"? Is it possible for anyone to do this, as it says only an administrator can do this. Help? --Zooba 18:11, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I placed a speedy tag on Wii Fit to make room for this page to be moved. Dancter 19:37, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion?

Why is this page up for deletion? It was Merged with Wii Health Pack since it is the same game. Neo Samus 18:39, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The reasons are indicated in the template. This is only temporary. The article will not be permanently deleted. Dancter 18:43, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh my mistake. I should've read the whole thing. Sorry about that. Neo Samus 18:45, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I removed it. There has been some discussion as to whether the Wii Health Pack and Wii Fit are the same, and given that history merges are difficult to undo, I decided to hold off for a while. Dancter 18:50, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I'm not so sure it is the same game. But the article really needs to be "Wii Fit" like "Wii Sports" unless Nintendo types it as WiiFit. LN3000 20:09, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
In due time. Dancter 20:10, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge

Personally I think Wii Health Pack and Wii Fit are the same game. It sounds to me that they both have the same general concept. Neo Samus 21:13, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree and would support a merge. Peter S. 22:57, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
They are the same game and should be merged immediately. Zomic_13 00:03, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Has it actually been said Wii Health Pack is now known as Wii Fit? I don't think we should assume "2 similar games = a renamed game", until we know for sure. RobJ1981 04:18, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Nope. Only some Australian Nintendo fan website claims to be it but no official word from Nintendo according to Google News search. I strike my "vote" because it would definitely make me a hypocrite for asking citations on certain facts on this website. :-P --Souphanousinphone 04:46, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Merge Frankly, I think that we can get away with adding a "Wii Health Pack" section to Wii Fit, detailing what Wii Health Pack was all about, the similarities between the two, and the subsequent ambiguity regarding whether Wii Health Pack became Wii Fit. --Zooba 05:59, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose Wii Fit is a game just like Wii Sports and Wii Play, so it really needs it's own page, like every single other game on Wikipedia JayKeaton 16:50, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think you may misunderstand the discussion. We're discussing whether the Wii Health Pack should be merged here due to the fact that, apparently, both articles are talking about the same thing. -- -- MisterHand (Talk to the Hand|Contribs) 17:18, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose I really think that we need to keep the articles separate until we know more information. There is always confusion when a new game is announced and details are scarce. I think it is best to keep the articles separate until we know for sure. LN3000 17:33, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge If I'm not mistaken, Wii Health Pack was never a real name. "The 'Health Pack' is the working title for a future release for Wii, announced by Shigeru Miyamoto at a conference held in mid-September. He described it as a way to help get families exercising together." [1] --enbob89 23:05, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge Hey, paisanos! Here'sa news article that mentions that Wii Fit was indeed codenamed Wii Health Pack. http://wii.ign.com/articles/804/804113p1.html IGN should be reliable enough for something like this, right? --Migs 13:53, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's good enough for me. Merge -- MisterHand (Talk to the Hand|Contribs) 14:24, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So we're all agreed? Good. I'll do the merge. --Zooba 15:16, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Who's all agreed? 4 for the merge and 2 against it, don't you think you should wait a bit for more support either way? The merge is foolish. LN3000 17:08, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
On the slim chance that the IGN article is wrong, and the "Wii Health Pack" turns out to be a completely different product that just happens to have the same description as "Wii Fit", it'll be easy to undo. We can just revert Wii Health Pack back to the version before the redirect, and resume editing. -- MisterHand (Talk to the Hand|Contribs) 17:11, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Furthermore, one of the Opposes was based on a false presumption of what the merge would actuall entail. I just decided to be bold!. --Zooba 18:59, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How

Financial Times has some comments about how Miyamoto came with the idea of this game, it may be useful here. -- ReyBrujo 03:51, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge the Walking stuff

The part where it says Step off and back on during the rhythm should be Step Aerobics.

Any australian release dates

I was wandering if anybody know the release date ror Australia other than 2008 . As i am intrested for the board itself . By the way i saw a video on youtube about it an the reggie showing of his weaght to the audience Richardson j 05:40, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wii Sex??

Is this game actually going to be succeeded Wii Sex or is that vandlism? MSanchez252 10:58, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's definetely vandalism. Nintendo would NEVER do something like that.Link 486 16:45, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A third party could invent such a game. I working on a design for the game controller right now. 209.29.96.31 12:13, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Measuring weight?

Also, isn't the Balance Board capable of measuring your weight, too? Link 486 16:45, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I seem to recall seeing an interview with Miyamoto where he said that the board itself would be (technically) capable of reading your weight more accurately than the average bathroom scales. However, I don't know if that means the 'game' actually will do that, or if it's just that the board itself is physically capable of it. Bladestorm 16:54, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Since it calculates BMI it must be able to read your weight. -- MisterHand (Talk to the Hand|Contribs) 16:56, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Game Engine

Does anyone know the name of the game engine (i.e., middleware) used in the development of Wii Fit? Is it third-party or in-house? Aeonassoc 15:43, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mario?

"Plumbing where the player helps Mario fix the plumbing of someone's house" sounds incredibly fake. Is it real, and if so, can we find a citation?--The last sheikah 11:03, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The "Boxart"

Hey dudes,

Just a heads up. The boxart that's been posted is a fan-made creation; please do not use it in the article. The template used is rendered poorly, and the lines are "squiggly". There is absolutely no way Nintendo would release an image of such poor quality. 65.162.63.128 19:51, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge discussion

I am proposing a merge discussion on several Wii articles - the discussion to be, however, what to merge and where. If anyone would like to join in, please go to Talk:Wii. - A Link to the Past (talk) 17:51, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think this article will be merged. It has already been released in Japan and it is big news. I can't imagine the Wii Fit article ever being merged. JayKeaton 09:11, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Release Date

The article says it will be released in either January 1, or February 6. But there is no source, could someone please find a source to verify this claim. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.121.100.15 (talk) 12:31, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kevin 19: I was searching gamestracker.co.uk, and Wii Fit was listed as 25 May, 2008 for Europe. Has this been seen anywhere else? Sounds about right anyway.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kev19 (talkcontribs) 21:05, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Amazon's saying that. Interestingly the NoE website doesn't have a date and is also calling the name Wii Fit now. I reckon it's probably better to wait for a proper announcement regarding the release in Europe, there's little benefit in simply reiterating other people's guesswork. EvilRedEye (talk) 22:09, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just checked IGN and it is under TBA 2008. I thought it would be released in January or February, is there a Nintendo source????????????69.121.100.15 (talk) 22:13, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

When it comes to a Nintendo product, it's best to wait for an official release date from the company itself because it tends to change often, and then some. Duhman0009 (talk) 04:17, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like 1UP is pretty accurate, despite being off 1 day. Nintendo announced that Wii Fit is out May 19, 2008. Versus22 (talk) 16:03, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Citation

There is proof that the North American release date is May 21, 2008 [[2]] Jhuhn (talk) 03:51, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The North American release date should be kept as May 19, 2008, since the web page your link goes to says May 21 is the "in store" date. From WP:VG/DATE:
"Keep in mind that some publishers may advertise a "release date", while some may advertise an "in-store date", and some may advertise both. (See Metroid Prime 3: Corruption for an example of both.) Usually, but not always, the "release date" is the date on which the publisher ships the game to retailers, resulting in an in-store date of between one and three days later. In general, a video game article should use the official release date and not the in-store date, if two separate dates are announced." --Silver Edge (talk) 04:45, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Delay

The Wii Fit website, Nintendo.com, the Nintendo Channel, Gamestop, and EB Games all say that Wii Fit comes out on May 21. I changed it from 19 to 21... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.121.102.73 (talk) 00:38, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted your edit, see #Citation. --Silver Edge (talk) 02:16, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.121.102.73 (talk) 11:07, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm nor sure if this was the case before, but right now most of Nintendo's current material uses the May 19 date. This includes Nintendo.com. Although the Nintendo Channel still uses the May 21 date, it also still lists the release date for Summon Night: Twin Age as May 20, despite the fact Atlus announced a delay weeks ago. Duhman0009 claims that "The game will only be sold on the 19th (and 20th) at the Nintendo World Store in New York", presumably citing Nintendo's mid-April press release, despite the fact that the press release did not actually preclude availability elsewhere. Regardless, whether or not it is an in-store date doesn't matter, per the guideline Silver Edge quoted previously. May 19 is the date Nintendo is currently using. Dancter (talk) 17:37, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I replaced the picture Logo by the Japanese box of the game since pretty much all of the game pages on Wiki feature the box cover.

If anyone has an official NA or EUR box pic, please replace it.

I've uploaded the final PAL boxart (taken from the Nintendo Asset Library). Tim (Xevious) (talk) 18:09, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Seeing as Wii Fit is coming out in PAL countries well in advance of the American release, it would make sense for the box art to be the PAL art. The Japanese box could be considered, because it is a Japanese product and first released in Japan, but this is the English wikipedia (NOT the American Wikipedia, so PAL is the right choice). Region inter-compatability

Does anyone know if the Japanese wii board identical to the US one? The Japanese Wiifit (disc and board) is confirmed to be working on a US Wii (note:with modchip) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.233.169.47 (talk) 04:45, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I know that the European Balance Board can actually hold more weight than the Japanese (150kg vs. 136kg) [3]. No word yet on the American Balance Board, but I would presume that there will be a difference as well. However, other than the max weight-loads for the boards, the boards should be inter-compatible just as Wiimotes are since the wireless functionality is the same. -Zomic13 (talk) 17:19, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"the game in the fishing hut"'s predecessor

I believe that instead of using that phrase, we should say it's similar to the game of Labyrinth, where one takes a metal ball, and tilts a board using two dials to guide the ball through a course littered with numbered holes (dictating your score, but usually playing 1-player, it doesn't really matter.) and a finish marking at the end. This puzzle/game has been used in several games as mini-game fodder, web-games, etc, including the afforementioned fishing hut game, which no-one (myself included) remembers the name it was given. Wii Fit not included in NPD sales figures?

Hi, I read on GoNintendo.com that Wii Fit's sales won't be tracked by NPD, is this true and if so should it be mentioned somewhere in the article? If it is true, this could set a precendent for future exercise style titles (and possibly existing Brain training titles). Full list of activities

Would be quite interested to know other ediotrs' opinions on this. Geoff B (talk) 18:15, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am a bit puzzled why my Wii Fit activities edit was reverted.

this was incomplete and inacurate based on the games pre-release information. I now have the game and it is good to let people know what is in the package.

Would have been nice to have more explanation for reverting Help:Reverting#Rollback- Politeness is needed - as this avoids edit wars and discourages new editors

It was not a game guide WP:NOTMANUAL - ie how to play nor was it an extensive list. Being an owner it is however accurate.

As for not needing a list of every game activity is concerned - there are plenty of exeptions to this Wii Play for example

on a personal note - When I was wondering if to purchase a wii fit I wondered what activities were available. a small list of the games is helpful

I am sorry I used the wrong forum for discussion . I am a new editor —Preceding unsigned comment added by Williamb40 (talkcontribs) 18:25, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To me, it just seems an arbitrary extension of a short, acceptable list. If you list all the balance games, why not then list all the yoga poses, all the muscle workouts, etc? As for other articles including long lists, there are plenty of other articles with original research in them, that doesn't justify including it in this one. Possible purchasers of Wii Fit make up a small percentage of the total readers of the article, and a full list is only of interest to them. Geoff B (talk)
It's not as if each added game mode is the same as a yoga pose. Create one section describing some of the yoga, some of the exercises, and another section for the game modes. - A Link to the Past (talk) 18:38, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I understand your point geoffb about yoga and muscle. I did consider adding a list of these games but they are all very similar. The Balance and Aerobic sections have games which are different. the original list did not include many of the interesting games such as Zazen it is good to point out this game in particular as it is has references in game history that I tried to include... Lets keep talking —Preceding unsigned comment added by Williamb40 (talkcontribs) 18:50, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Confusion on the Release Date

It would appear that some anxious Wii fans are in a hurry to get this game. Although Nintendo will sale it at the New York Nintendo World Store on May 19th, it is not the actual release date, the actual release date is when it goes on sale across North America which is May 21th. Just like a sneak peak at a movie is NOT the actual starting date for showing a movie, having the Nintendo World Store selling Wii Fit 2 days in advance does NOT make it the actual release date.

Duhman0009 (talk) 17:48, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Having Problems Finding Wii Fit in Stores Today (May 19th)?

Well maybe it's because THE GAME IS NOT OUT YET!!!! Told you, unless you can make it to the Nintendo World Store in New York, you're not getting this game until the 21th which is the actual Street Date of Wii Fit. Oh before you even post it, I don't give a crap about any Wikipedia rules I just broke with this post, I have earned the bragging rights after editing this page for 2 days only to have it reverted by Nintendo fanboys with delusions that they could go to their local game store on the 19th and get this game. Duhman0009 (talk) 13:22, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you actually provided a source like this, you could've actually made a much better case than you had been, and encountered less resistance. Being right matters little here if you don't verify it, whether it is article information or editor conduct. I myself will None of your previous edits actually showed that the Nintendo World Store launch was treated as an exclusive, and the edits actually could have been considered original research. As I mentioned in my unanswered comment above, what matters is the date Nintendo advertises, regardless of whether it's a street date. Dancter (talk) 16:39, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Providing sources obviously means squat since people edited my last one anyway: Old Version Only reason why the proper date is now showing is because people just realized that their local EB Games and Wal-Mart won't sale it to them until the 21th. I provided them with enough sources, but they refused to read/believe and now they're being punished for being hard headed.Duhman0009 (talk) 17:30, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As you said yourself, you can get the game at the Nintendo World Store - thus the game was released today (even if it is not widely available). Either way though, bragging on here just makes you look like a total idiot and will only cause people to lose respect for you as an editor. -Zomic13 (talk) 17:38, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I, they did release it today, but when talking about releasing something in a region, that release can't be limited to one area only. What Nintendo did was a sneak peak or exclusivity if you will, that cannot be accounted for an actual release date, if anything, it's cheating. As for the respect part, don't make laugh, there's no respect to gain here or on any place on the Internet. I don't expect respect from my DVD player or electric drill for the same reason I don't expect it from the Internet, because this cybertool is exactly what the name states it is, a tool. Duhman0009 (talk) 17:48, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Per the guideline, "For unreleased games, vendor sites should not be used as verifiable sources since their date is likely based on their best estimate of when the game is to be out; always look for corroborating statements from reliable sources to confirm these dates." All the sources you used were vendor sites. Also, I never claimed that May 21 wasn't the in-store date, and did not use that as a basis for my argument. Dancter (talk) 10:14, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How about instead of getting into a pissing contest between who is right, we put a blurb about being officially released on 5/19 but not in stores until 5/21? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.16.140.3 (talk) 18:42, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
