Im New

I've only been registered on Wikipedia for about a week, and i would like some help on how to do stuff like you, how to add those cool little gadgets on your page, and generally be mentored.. or at least some advice please :) Thanks Dalemurph (talk) 16:47, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations on what appears to be your first WP:FL. In case you do not know, we are running an experiment to choose the List of the Month and Lists of the Day for June. Feel free to nominate your list at User:TonyTheTiger/List of the Day/Nominees/200807 for consideration next month to be the July LOTM or a LOTD. If you would like to support this experiment the most important thing you can do is come by and vote at User:TonyTheTiger/List of the Day/voting/200806. My talk page is always open.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 04:52, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the nomination. Please remember to vote at User:TonyTheTiger/List of the Day/voting/200806. We need input to make a good selection each month.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 21:31, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Less than 48 hours remain and the voting is close. Your vote at User:TonyTheTiger/List of the Day/voting/200806 would be important.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 02:46, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You beat me to the block! I'd personally up it to indefinite- the user has uploaded a lot of attack images, and created attack pages (check the deleted contributions). If you think the user has the potential to be a good contributor, feel free to ignore me. J Milburn (talk) 15:58, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, sure. To be fair, the user has made decent contributions in the past. J Milburn (talk) 16:04, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

So where is the "right place"?

So where is the "right place"? I'm sure you clearly had an intention when writing about the "right place".

If it's not vandalism you have just to decline the request. But not remove it. 82.113.106.16 (talk) 16:30, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Take it to WP:ANI or WP:SS, I'd say. Thanks! weburiedoursecretsinthegarden 20:14, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It would be helpful...

...if instead of posting generic templates you actually pointed out the supposed vandalism. Kthx. Neapolitan Sixth (talk) 20:05, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, heh, I saw the ANI thread. It would have been helpful if you had linked to that. Thanks anyway for WP:AGF. Neapolitan Sixth (talk) 20:07, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh well, I'm quite versed in policy nonetheless. I appreciate that you overlooked the poster's taken-out-of-context diffs and were able to see my "good" contributions. Thank you for your evenhandedness. Neapolitan Sixth (talk) 20:20, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback of Template:Coord/dec2dms/dms

Hi WB. I had to roll back your edit to Template:Coord/dec2dms/dms because it broke some (if not all) articles with geographical infoboxes. I haven't looked into the cause of the error. All I know is that articles like St Mary Cray were broken, with a line of garbage at the top related to the coor template, and rolling back your edit fixed them. Better luck next time! Regards, --Heron (talk) 21:35, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RfA thank-spam

Fox, just a note of appreciation for your recent support of my request for adminship, which ended successfully with 112 supports, 2 opposes, and 1 neutral. If there's something I've realized during my RFA process this last week, it's that adminship is primarily about trust. I will strive to the best of my ability to honour that trust in my future interactions with the community. Many thanks! Gatoclass (talk) 06:12, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks weebo. And congrats on your own RFA! :) Gatoclass (talk) 06:12, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WP:HAU has a new format

Due to popular demand, HAU has a new look. Since the changes are so dramatic, I may have made some mistakes when translating the data. Please take a look at WP:HAU/EU and make sure your checkmarks are in the right place and feel free to add or remove some. There is a new feature, SoxBot V, a recently approved bot, automatically updates your online/offline status based on the length of time since your last edit. To allow SoxBot V to do this, you'll need to copy to your userpage. Obviously you are not required to add this to your userpage, however, without this, your status will always be "offline" at HAU. Thanks. Useight (talk) 17:23, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback

Hi. I would like to have rollback rights. I have over 400 edits. I spend some considerable time reverting, but sometimes I am turned away by vandalising of pages rapidly. Please reply as soon as possible. Thanks.LAAFan 00:11, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RfA thanks!

RfA: Many thanks
Many thanks for your participation in my recent request for adminship. I am impressed by the amount of thought that goes into people's contribution to the RfA process, and humbled that so many have chosen to trust me with this new responsibility. I step into this new role cautiously, but will do my very best to live up to your kind words and expectations, and to further the project of the encyclopedia. Again, thank you. --jbmurray (talkcontribs) 05:41, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ACC

Hey. When you login can you please check the admin bit of ACC(I think you have been "admin" appproved). There is a bit of a backlog. Many thanks. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 14:57, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikicup IRC channel

Hi, this is a message to inform you about the creation of an IRC channel for the Wiki World Cup. In this channel, such things disscussed will be; future developments in the cup, disscussion about points awarded, and other general WikiCup related things. You can access this channel via IRC and joining #Wikicup. A more derict link is irc://irc.freenode.net/wikicup .

Thanks you. Sunderland06 (talk) 20:05, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have any reliable source to use in this article (in the "History", "Culture" and "Economy and tourism")? Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 13:02, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also the article says "In 1380, the village already contained thirty families, and they were subjected to various attacks by Saracen pirates". This needs a more explanation. You say there were thirty families, well, but what these families were, how did you measure the number of families, what was there occupation, were they farmers or something other? RE: Mistaken Revert

I dont know what else I was supposed to do, I saw someone edit your userpage I acted within guidelines and the such. Next time whatever the edit I wont revert to stop further such discussions, I was trying to help Wikipedia by doing the right thing. Police,Mad,Jack (talk · contribs) 16:18, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Oh ok, maybe I was a bit quick in stating that I wouldnt revert anymore vandalism. Its something of a duty rather than what you want to do. Police,Mad,Jack (talk · contribs) 16:30, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Its fine. Police,Mad,Jack (talk · contribs) 16:34, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Its all been blanked on his talk page now, so not to worry. Looks like he's licked his wounds and got over it even though it took someone else to delete it for him. Police,Mad,Jack (talk · contribs) 16:38, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Further more its amazing what happens when you try to do the right thing, I suppose thats a lesson in life. Police,Mad,Jack (talk · contribs) 16:44, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

blocking 65.216.70.62

Thank you for blocking this IP for the next day, but I guess the reason you gave on its talk page is off: you mentioned 'bad username' instead of vandalism. -- Bakabaka (talk) 19:29, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, my bad. I didn't say a thing :). Thanks anyway! -- Bakabaka (talk) 19:31, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

YOUR comments are unconstructive

I don't appreciate you referring to my revisions in the anal-oral sex article as unconstructive. Another editor brought up the subject of ammending the caption, I agreed with him and made the change. I was trying to make a better caption and I'd like to know under what theory my change was unconstructive? How is changing the caption from "A person preparing to perform analingus" to "A depiction of a person performing analingus" unconstructive? I am one of the many people VOLUNTEERING my time to help make Wikipedia better, and I, among others do not appreciate receiving nasty comments on our talk pages. You are supposed to assume good faith, and that's exactly what I was doing. Making rude accusations about someone's intent when there is no basis for it only discourages good editors from participating. 98.220.43.195 (talk) 19:35, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My recent RfA

Thank you for supporting my RfA, which unfortunately didn't succeed. The majority of the opposes stated that I needed more experience in the main namespace and Wikipedia namespace and talk space, so that is what I will do. I have made a list and I hope I will be able to get through it. I will go for another RfA in about three month's time and I hope you will be able to support me then as well. If you have any other comments for me or wish to be notified when I go for another RfA, please leave them on my talk page. If you wish to nominate me for my next RfA, please wait until it has been about three months. I will not be checking back to this page so if you would like to comment or reply please use my talk page. Thanks again for participating in my RfA! ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 06:29, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Block on Broadbot

Hi

You blocked my bot about a week ago for malfunction. The problem was that it worked on templates and not normal articles. As it won't do this on it's own I would like the block to be lifted please. --Broadbeer (talk) 12:07, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

User talk page vandalism

Mental problems, 'eh? I guess adminship really does turn people mad! Thanks for the protection on User talk:Hatlerbentley; I had just asked Keeper76, who made the block, if he'd take care of it, but you're just too efficient these days! On a related note, it's always good to see new admins using the tools well, so congratulations (again...) and I hope we see a lot more of each other in the future. Good luck in your exams. haz (talk) 18:17, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm pretty sure our latest friend is not a newbie. He was able to successfully figure out how to place an unblock template. He never even got the "You've been blocked" block template from me with the instructions. Smells rather strong. Like sweaty socks. Keep your eye out for him, he'll be back, "mental health problems" and all....Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 18:22, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Award thanks

Wow, thanks! Ooh, the template was contributed by Nothing144? I think I've had dealings with him in the past (can't remember what for now!). Oh well, I happily accept regardless. :) Best, PeterSymonds (talk) 19:57, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just dropping by to say that I love the current notice for your back to back exams and how you will ignore studying! :P Malinaccier (talk) 20:46, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Hello Fox! I'd like to leave a note of appreciation for your recent support of my request for adminship, which ended successfully today (and to my surprise) with 83 supports, 4 opposes, and 2 neutral. What I have taken back from my RFA is that I've perhaps been too robust in debate and I will endevour to improve upon that aspect of my usership. I would like to thank you again and state here that I will not let any of my fellow Wikipedian's down. Thanks again! --Jza84 |  Talk  11:37, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
