Map of Angola with the province highlighted

Lunda Norte is a province of Angola. It has an area of 103,000 km² and a population of approximately 850,000. Angola's first President, Agostino Neto, made Lucapa the provincial capital after independence, but the capital was later moved to Dundo. Municipalities in this province include Shah-Muteba, Cuango, Capemba-Camulemba, Lubalo, Caungula, Cuilo, Chitato-Dundo, Lucapa and Caumbo. The province is rich in diamonds, but remains vastly underdeveloped and impoverished.

Lunda Norte is populated by Cokwe (Tshoquoe), Lundas, and other tribes.
