:Hi there, I just re-read your article, and I didn't see anything mentioning that it is a work in progress and that is why I tagged it to be deleted, but anyways, if you would like to create a draft of a page and then have other editors review it, then I suggest you create a user subpage and then write/edit your article there as to prevent it from being deleted before you have finished writing/editing, and once its ready then you can move it to the article space. I hope this help, and if you have any more questions please feel free to ask :). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 21:59, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

STOP! If your question regards things like Copyvio, License and Something-like-that, please read this!. Please also note that I'm using a Bot to put the messages in your talk page so excuse it if it makes errors. Usually, if you are the author of the picture it can be enough to add only PD-Self otherwise search the license here! And all will be ok. If the problem regards Bot-Problems (for example, if it's too fast or something like that..) or something else, don't be shy and notify me ASAP. Archive Trouble

I had a little Trouble with the Archiving bot. It started off with Archive 3 instead of 1. How can I fix this? I mean, the page. I got the bot controls sorted. --SWJS: The All Knowing Destroy All Humans! Nerd(Cortex Scan) 19:03, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done; Hi there, I moved the archive page to User talk:SWJS/Archive 1 for you, and I also fixed all of the Wikilinks pointing to the old page, so now the bot should continue archiving as normal to User talk:SWJS/Archive 1. If you have any more questions feel free to ask :). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 01:46, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much! Sweet, now that the bot isn't zapping my talk page with lazors, I can have a nice tidy talk page :3. --SWJS: The All Knowing Destroy All Humans! Nerd(Cortex Scan) 06:26, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Status report on the Country outlines (Around the World) project

Penubag has been hard at work developing awards for this project. He has completed a very professional looking medal, and is almost done with a trophy that is truly awesome - both of these awards are visually stunning.

I and a few others have been working steadily on the country outlines - one for every country of the world! They're shaping up nicely. So far, 28 of them have been moved to article space - these aren't complete, but they are complete enough to be made available for readers to benefit from them. The rest of the set still includes temporary data that was generated by template (because it matched most but not all of the countries), and before the lists can be moved to article space, all the temporary data needs to be checked for accuracy, and if incorrect it needs to be replaced with correct information.

The effort on the lists has been on 3 fronts:

 1. Working on the lists in article space to complete them so they will be good examples for editors working on the rest of the set.
 2. Adding or correcting other data (fixing redlinks, filling in blanks, etc.). The main type of work participants in "the contest" will be doing. The reason we're doing this is to get a feel for it, to develop the fastest methods for each type of task, etc.
 3. Improving the overall design and implenting changes on all 247 pages, whether in article space or not.

There has been some opposition to us running the contest based on edit counts or iterations. The concern is that we should reward quality work and not quantity, for fear of crappy edits done quickly without thought. I pointed out that the collection of pages are drafts in the Wikipedia namespace (therefore posing no danger to article space) and that most of the work needs to be done with power tools like AWB and Linky (which are specifically designed for repetitive work), but the reply was that we shouldn't set the precedent of rewarding barnstars for numerically-based tasks, and implied the threat of continuously MfD'ing the contest if we attempted to do so (like they did with the Awards Center - I was very surprised and disappointed that participants didn't step up to defend it). So we need to be careful in determining what exactly the awards will represent, and how they will be awarded.

Since rewarding iterations (passes with AWB on all of the pages in the set) are out, we really don't need the globe in stand anymore. Two awards should suffice.

Once we get started with the contest, I'd like to kick the whole thing off with a round of medals for those dedicated few who have worked hard on the project so far.

What do you think of all of this?

Your comments and suggestions are most welcome.

I really have no idea why you deleted these pictures, I made sure that the copyright said that these were my own images but still I was getting comments that they were not mine and I needed a copyright on them.

Wikipedia announces launch of new Valued pictures project

The official VP seal

The project goes live for nominations on 10 November, 2008 at 0:00 UTC

This Wikipedia Valued pictures project sets out to identify and encourage users' efforts in providing valuable images of high encyclopedic value, and to build up a resource for editors from other Wikimedia projects seeking such educational images for use online. The project also provides recognition to contributors who have made an effort to contribute enyclopedic images of difficult subjects which are very hard or nigh on impossible to obtain. The project will run alongside the existing Wikipedia Featured pictures and Picture peer review projects.

Please visit Valued picture candidates to nominate an image, or to help review the nominations. Anyone with an account on Wikipedia is welcome to nominate images, and also to take part in the open review process.

The Wikipedia valued picture project has opened for nominations. Please feel free to nominate an image at WP:VPC today!

G4 tagging

Hello Mifter. Thanks for the newpages patrol! Regarding Mine4ever which you tagged for speedy deletion as a repost, I just wanted to drop by to tell you that CSD G4 only applies to pages previously deleted after discussion, at an XfD forum such as at AfD. It does not apply to pages that were only previously speedy deleted, as this article was. Note also that even when an article was previously deleted on the merits, G4 is only applicable where the reposted article is substantially identical to the deleted version and any changes in the recreated page do not address the reasons for which the material was deleted. Cheers. Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 00:15, 2 November 2008 (UTC)--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 00:15, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, that was my error :), thanks for the template message (Joking :P, I don't really mind if I get a template every once an a while :) ), anyways, thanks for the heads up, I'll make sure not to use CSD G4 for re-created speedy deleted articles :). Also, thanks for taking the time to tell me of my error, as the quote at the top of my talk page says, criticism is something to learn from and not to be angry with. So thanks for informing me of my mistake and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 00:21, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Glad to help. You are not alone by the way. The reason that template exists is because G4 is so often misapplied. I know, being templated can be annoying. It is informative and hey, the job of a template is so we don't have to reinvent the wheel right? I do admit though, I didn't check your contributions to see if you were a regular so apologies for not tailoring my message. Cheers.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 00:33, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Its fine :), I understand that typing out a response can take a while :). When I get Image complaints about my bot especially when I get 5-6 of the exact same ones, its just so much easier to leave a template to help them out then typing essentially the same thing 5 times :P, especially when a template can do the same job so much quicker :), and your right that we don't need to reinvent the wheel every time we need to tell someone something :). But once again thanks for the heads up and All the Best, Mifter (talk) 00:40, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hah, sorry

It's always a bit of a mess when the call to arms is answered simultaneously. I think the duplicates and reverts were so close together than no one will really notice though. ~ User:Ameliorate! (with the !) (talk) 02:36, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's Fine, I've done the same thing of plenty of times :P. Thanks and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 23:19, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your adoptee

I seem to be getting into a dispute with your adoptee User:cbreseman. If that adoption is still live would you care to read User talk:WereSpielChequers#Don't, any suggestions as to how the situation can be defused would be welcome. ϢereSpielChequers 13:46, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately User:cbreseman has had to be blocked. ϢereSpielChequers 22:01, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good shooting Tex!

Recently you left a message on my talk page[1] where you first thanked me “for reverting (my) recent experiment” and then asked that in the future, “please do not experiment on article pages; instead, use the sandbox.” I would offer that had you taken the time to actually look at the edits I made[2] [3] that you might not have been so quick on the trigger with your admonition. Cheers! 206.211.166.17 (talk) 15:24, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there, I apologize for my mistake :(, I was looking at your IP and when I compared it to the IP of the person that you had reverted, I mistakenly thought that they were the same IP, and as such I gave you a template message. Once again I apologize for my mistake and I thank you for taking the time to tell me of my mistake so that in the future I won't make the same mistake. As the motto on the top of my talk page says, criticism is something to appreciate and learn from not to loathe so thanks for telling of my mistake and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 22:22, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

List of United States Senators in the 79th Congress by seniority

Hi. With respect to the extremely unusual situation at List of United States Senators in the 79th Congress by seniority, I just wanted to let you know that it actually is an infringement, but of another Wikipedian. The article with its attribution history is located at User:Dr who1975/sandbox. I have no idea how User:JoseAwfulman came to paste this content into article space! It does not seem to be an alternate account, as User:Dr who1975 is still active. I'll do a history merge and let Dr who1975 know what's up, while also advising JoseAwfulman why cut & paste moves are inappropriate on Wikipedia. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 00:19, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DYK update

Sorry about my intrusion into your update. I started adding that hook before you placed the "in use" template, so I wanted to finish... I'll stay out of your way now. --Orlady (talk) 19:54, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DYK Question

Hi. I was wondering what happened to my DYK nomination. It looks like you deleted it with the edit summary "good".

Is there a "holding pen" for upcoming DYKs, or was the deletion accidental? Thanks. — Malik Shabazz (talk · contribs) 22:48, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, I apologize for that, the deletion was accidental, I had moved the hook to the Next Update, but I had an edit conflict with one of the other volunteers, and that edit conflict caused a loss of session data, and then when I re-added the hooks that were caught in the edit conflict, I must have accidentally not seen yours and as a result it wasn't re-added to the next update. I have just gone and added the hook to the next update, so it should soon be on the Main Page. Thank you for notifying me of my mistake, as the motto at the top of my talk page says, criticism is something to praise and to better yourself from and not to condemn, so once again I apologize for my mistake and thank you for taking the time to inform me of it. Thanks and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 01:43, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you read my page, it said it is a work in progress. I am finishing it soon, and then showing it to established editors to help improve it.

Hi there, I just re-read your article, and I didn't see anything mentioning that it is a work in progress and that is why I tagged it to be deleted, but anyways, if you would like to create a draft of a page and then have other editors review it, then I suggest you create a user subpage and then write/edit your article there as to prevent it from being deleted before you have finished writing/editing, and once its ready then you can move it to the article space. I hope this help, and if you have any more questions please feel free to ask :). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 21:59, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
