The Clique Girlz are an American girl group from Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, originally composed of sisters Paris and Destinee Monroe and their best friend Ariel Moore.[1] The girls were formerly known as Clique in 2004 before changing their name.

Biography

Destinee and Ariel met in school at a water fountain, and from that point Ariel developed a friendship with both Destinee and her sister Paris.[2]

They formed a group and started to perform together.[3] In 2006, they attended a "meet and greet" before a Backstreet Boys concert, where band member Howie D invited them to open the show. [4] At the beginning of 2007 they went to Hollywood for a meeting and never left.[5] Jimmy Iovine himself signed them to his Interscope label.[6] Lenore Monroe, the mother of Destinee and Paris, is the manager of the group.[7]

The original lineup of Ariel, Paris, & Destinee.

The Clique Girlz have opened for such artists as Backstreet Boys, Billy Ray Cyrus, The Click Five, Kirk Franklin, the Jonas Brothers,The Cheetah Girls and Drake Bell.[8] They have traveled to Tokyo, Japan where they performed their version of the National Anthem at the opening game of MLB at the Tokyo Dome between the Boston Red Sox and the Oakland A’s. The girls also have done several shows at Six Flags and other venues. In 2008, they performed at the Fourth of July Philadelphia Fireworks Show and Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and also participated in special events like the Grammys, Kids Choice Awards, Teen Choice Awards and MTV Movie Awards.

Each group member plays a music instrument. Destinee plays guitar, Paris plays the piano, and all three play the violin.[4]

Author Lisi Harrison also indicated in her blog that they will be doing a song called "Here With Me Now" for the film The Clique, which is based on the bestselling novel by the same name.[9]

Ariel Moore has recently left the group for personal reasons and the group is currently looking for a new member. [10] [11]
