Since you have demonstrated zero effort towards dispute resolution, and seem unable to cite any meaningful efforts towards dispute resolution by others, I respectfully suggest that your request for arbitration is in violation of Wikipedia policy and that you withdraw it. Otherwise, your actions could be considered as abusive and harrassment. Thanks. [[User:Wyss|Wyss]] 00:12, 18 November 2005 (UTC)

Welcome to the picnic! If you are a new user thanking me for the welcome, create the section with "Thanks from (your name)" or something similar, not just Thanks or Thank you. :)

Could you do me a little favor?

Could you take a gaze at Talk:John Kerry? Rex is basically out of control. As you probably know, he's been back from a self-imposed 6 month exile for about the last 3 weeks...before the 6 months, he'd been banned for 4. Anyway, they came to a consensus about John Kerry's injury that led to his first Purple Heart by using the word wound. For the last 200K of discussion (no I am not kidding), Rex has tried to buck consensus. Every possible way has been used to convince him that the consensus is for wound and that he needs to just accept it and move on. But he's gotten obsessive. He's not quite as bad as BD777, but still. Could you take a look and just give me an opinion on it as to whether you would consider him a troll? He is literally costing editors days by pounding away on the same issue 7-8 times in the same day. it's gotten to the point where some of the editors (kizzle and katefan) can't do anything else but respond to him. Thanks as always. --Woohookitty(cat scratches) 13:41, 9 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I've seen Rex around, and he seems rather... headstrong, but in my own opinion, he's not a troll. I wouldn't know what to recommend, perhaps filing something at WP:3O? Redwolf24 (talk) 01:14, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I was the one who stumbled onto the article as a WP:PP, and in my opinion, there was a significant consensus to the version I reverted to. I was completely uninvolved when I came into the dispute, so I'm not sure WP:3O will do anything. I suggest WP:RFM. Titoxd(?!?) 01:21, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
As I have said repeatedly, there are previous ArbComm judgements regarding this issue that need to be enforced: [1]. Specifically, Remedy 5 and Enforcements 6 and 7. Also take a look at the other two ArbComm cases against Rex: [2][3]. An RFM would be pointless, I'm sure it would follow the same course as the multiple previous RfCs against Rex: [4] [5]. The same problems that caused the first 3 RfAr's to be filed are still being committed by Rex. In fact it's the same transgressions over the same article: John Kerry. If the previous ArbComm judgements are enforced and Rex is still causing problems, then this needs to proceed immediately to RfAr. The issues haven't changed and 3 previous ArbComms is more than enough of an attempt to resolve these issues. -- Mr. Tibbs 08:10, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Also, see Rex's violation of the 3RR on this: [6]. This is particularly relevant to Enforcement 7 of Rex's first ArbComm case. -- Mr. Tibbs 08:27, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Well thanks for looking, redwolf. I appreciate it. --Woohookitty(cat scratches) 08:51, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Kafa-esqu headings

You can ask, but unless you give me a bit more context to the question you probably won't get a meaningful answer. It was "random users" until not too long ago, but someone changed it. So, other than exactly what it looks like, what are you thinking? No to mention, I was about to add you in but now I'm afraid to.
brenneman(t)(c) 05:09, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Having been completely disarmed by your guile-less emoticon, I'll abandon my earlier caution - I'm an unrepentant Wiki-stalker. With over 800,000 articles (and 23 good ones) often the easiest way to see what's intersting is to follow around people who are clever or active or even quarrelsome. I rotate people in and out as the fancy takes me. With the exception of the tragic twosome locked in their eternal struggle, of course, they stay always.
So now will you come clean and tell me what you were thinking with your slightly pointed question? Does it look like I've got my "Black Books" there for eveyone to see or something? Because they are actually hidden where no one will ever look.
brenneman(t)(c) 00:25, 11 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sometimes it's the simplest things that get you in trouble. If there are more than three lines of text there, it screws up the layout. I've just paired up the longest user name with the shortest, second longest with second shortest... I'll now be compelled to try and make some hidden meanings in there. - brenneman(t)(c) 01:24, 11 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Perjorative meaning of Gay

It might be best to make clear that your objection to the description gay is only when used in the perjorative. Whenever someone calls me gay ( it happens a lot when u r a boy with long hair) I point out that I only object to the description because it is used in the perjorative.

For the record I am not gay.

Err? Redwolf24 (talk) 23:34, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry if you got the impression that I thought you had ever used gay in the perjorative. I simply wished to comment that it was best that when people objected to being described as gay they made it clear that they only objected to the perjorative use. I thought this was appropriate to communicate to you since at least 1 person seams to have persistently used gay in the perjorative when speaking about you. I aplogise if I caused any offence. Dr Jesin

In the article Circumcision advocacy there is some information about Dr Jesin, a Canadian General Practitioner and vigorous advocate for circumcision. He published a webpage about the medical benefits claimed for circumcision which he has copied from Circlist.

This is no secret, I might add. He acknowledges Circlist's copyright at the end of the webpage [7]. This is described in the article thus:

In Ontario, Canada, Dr Aaron Jesin, a General Practitioner, runs a circumcision clinic. His website reproduces a Circlist webpage containing articles from before the year 2000 on the medical benefits claimed for circumcision [8].

Now Jake Waskett keeps on removing the four highlighted words and I keep putting them back. We have discussed the dispute in great detail on the talk page to no avail [9]

Can you suggest any way out of this impass? i think it is important to mention where Dr Jesin got his information. Michael Glass 14:11, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for protecting the page - I hadnt noticed that particular revert war - had been watching the other ones. This is completely stupid of both of them. I hadnt realised that the situation had got this bad. Justinc 01:52, 11 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering if you'd protect this page. I'm somewhat involved... not one of the main parties, just trying to get compromises and agreement, but it doesn't seem that has exactly worked. I would protect it but after accusations against partisan protecting by SlimVirgin it seems like it's wise not to do it myself. If you could at least look at the situation that would be great. gren グレン 02:58, 11 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I wish I had known about that

Hi Redwolf, I just happened upon your bootcamp. Let me tell you I wish I had known about that 3 months ago, that would have been very helpful. Here's a band for you to try Breaking Benjamin, and the bands your gonna try out, well Smashing Pumpkins is a good one. (I'm biased Billy Corgan is like my second cousin through marriage) Chicago again I'm biased. (I'm from Chicago) Same thing with Disturbed. I also like to leave jokes, to Wikipedians, that I find helpful. (my text version of a barnstar I guess) so here you go.

  • Howard is feeling guilty. No matter what he tries to forget about it, he can't. The guilt and sense of betrayal are overwhelming. Every once in a while he hears a soothing voice trying to reassure him, "Howard, don't worry about it. You are not the first doctor to sleep with one of his patients and you won't be the last." But invariably the other voice brings him back to reality, "Howard, you're a veterinarian." KnowledgeOfSelf | talk. 22:41, 13 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I was seriously intrested in the mediation aspect of Wikipedia. I was a Peer Mediator for three years twice in high school and once in Jr high. But this doesn't seem to be the same as Wikioedia's mediation . Maybe you could explain it a little better than Mediation does. I mean is there a community consensus like RfA? Thanks for all the help including that boot camp lol :-D KnowledgeOfSelf | talk. 22:56, 13 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

FCYTravis block

Hi. I've reinstated the block; my reasoning and evidence that FCYTravis violated 3RR and Wyss did not is on the AN/3RR page. This does not mean that I think Wyss is "right" or that some other admin might not have reason to take action against him for disruption, etc. But by the letter of the policy, FCYTravis stepped over the particular line at issue. I'm more than willing to discuss this on my talk page or at AN/3RR if you like. Nandesuka 15:16, 14 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ted Wilkes reverted just as many times. FCYTravis did not blanket revert on the first revert, he changed a few sentences. He wasn't dodging 3RR as this was his first revert, and I doubt that he expected a revert war, I mean he DID use Rollback the last two times. Wikipedia has rules like IAR to ignore bureaucracy, and to let us know that it's not the rules, its the reason behind the rules' creation. 3RR is here to stop edit warring and disruption, but you can not honestly think that FCYTravis was more disruptive and Ted Wilkes and Wyss. Just do whatever you please though. Redwolf24 (talk) 23:24, 15 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Range blocks

I have downloaded MySQL and Apache. Now what? How do I enable range blocking, where is this php file? Why is MediaWiki always painfully confusing compared to the other wikis? Thanks.Voice of All(MTG) 07:19, 15 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

...You don't need MySQL or Apache to block! It says you have to enable that if you own your own MediaWiki. You'd have to be a dev to turn it on or off. You just type in the address and suffix to range block, but don't do it unless you know what you're doing. If you don't you can tell me the starting and end point you wanna block and I can just do it for you. Redwolf24 (talk) 23:24, 15 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

yeah, you gotta know your binary. If you the first 6 digits as the qualifier to get blocked, typing in 6 will actually give you the first 6 bits. What this does depends on the specific IP range. I believe IPs have binary based on the "." division right? So if I want to block 121.85.23.186->121.85.23.200 I convert the last digit bloc to binary. I know that you count like 128,64,32,16,8,4,2,1. So 186 is 128+0+32+16+8+0+2+0 which is 10111010. 200 is 128+64+0+0+8+0+0+0 which is 11001000. This is were I get confused: how do I set the number after the "/"???Voice of AllT|@|ESP 01:08, 16 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
The number after the / is the block you want to terminate. 121.85.23.186->121.85.23.200, possible blocks include 121.85.23.186/24 (which blocks 121.85.23.*) 256 addresses, 121.85.23.186/25 (.128 to .255) 128 addresses. Any lower ranges you would have to do multiple blocks. Blocking 128 addresses shouldn't be too dangerous, but remember to list it at WP:AN. To teach you to fish: You take the first digit of the two binary numbers that is DIFFERENT (i.e. a 0 and a 1) and cut it there. But remember there were 24 numbers in front of those ones. 10111010 and 11001000 have the 2nd digit different (btw, make sure each block is 8 binary digits, i.e. if it was 35, then the binary representation would be 00100011). Take one digit before the different digit (so 1 in) and add to the previous binary numbers which we already know are the same (24 digits) and you get /25. Anything else? Redwolf24 (talk) 01:20, 16 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks :)!!!That makes sense. Now I can mass block...muhahahah!!!Last time I read a MediaWiki page at 2:30 in the morning!Voice of AllT|@|ESP 03:32, 16 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hey fellow "Mentifex"

So far, so good on MARMOT. He had an potentially adversarial edit summary and reiterated a talk page edit of his from a few months ago, but nothing bad. What do we do other than that? Just watch him? Mediation

Redwolf24, I've suspended the mediation between Cberlet and Nobs01 and updated the appropriate sections at WP:RfM. Cberlet requested that the mediation be suspended after he filed an ArbCom case regarding tangentially-related matters (which weren't discussed in the mediation), and because Arbitration takes precedence over mediation and both Cberlet and Nobs01 are plaintiff/one of the defendants in the case, I've done so. I'm now open to take another case because Arbitration will most likely take a long time to conclude; when the ArbCom case concludes I won't mind having two mediations if both parties agree to come back to mediation afterwards. I'd like to ask those fellows who have not indicated whether or not they grant permission for a wikibio on them to please do so soon. I wouldn't recommend such a tag. We clean up everything fast enough anyway, and if you see something like 'is a stupid prick' you should know it's been vandalized. I don't like the edit link either as it may get people to try and remove vandalism manually, which could lead to missing some vandalism. Redwolf24 (talk) 23:57, 17 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

RfA, Wilkes, Wyss, 141

Please provide a set of diffs showing that you have attempted dispute resolution prior to your filing of this RfA, as required by Wikipedia policy. Moreover, please provide a short summary as to your interest in this matter, and a short summary of what you think you think the disagreement involves. Your RfA summary doesn't explain any of that. Thanks. Wyss 23:50, 17 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

If you'd take a look at the template it says 'why such attempts would be fruitless'. Don't try and call technicalities on this, it's a request to merge to a previous case. Also it'd be appreciated if you said RfAr rather than RfA. As for my interest: this is not something I have to explain, and in fact my only reason is because I feel you two are harassing Onefortyone. That's my interest, harassment sucks. Redwolf24 (talk) 23:57, 17 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Wyss 00:12, 18 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
