Dill Mill Gayye (also known as DMG) is an Indian medical drama television series that airs on STAR One from Monday - Friday at 8:30PM IST. It is the sequel of the television series Sanjivani, which aired on STAR Plus channel. It follows the lives of surgical interns and resident doctors of Sanjeevani. The show is aimed at urban educated youth. Set in the backdrop of Sanjeevani Hospital, it deals with the pressures, the drama, the romance, the inter personal relationships and humour in the lives of the young doctors.

Plot

Dill Mill Gayye is the sequel of the famous show on Star Plus Sanjivani.

First Season Storyline

It started off with 5 interns: Armaan Mallik, Riddhima Gupta, Anjali Gupta, Atul Joshi & Sapna Shah entering Sanjeevani Hospital. Anjali and Riddhima are sisters and daughters of the very famous and head of Sanjeevani: Dr. Shashank Gupta. On the first day itself, Armaan and Riddhima hate each other but unfortunately or fotunately, they are paired up to work together on a case. Like this, the story develops and all of them become good friends. Armaan starts liking Riddhima; Atul falls for Anjali and Sapna for Shubhankar. But in all these love stories, there are many complications and the story goes up and down in the backdrop of the hospitals.

Riddhima finds out that she is adopted and her real mother is Sister Padma Bhansal (head nurse of Sanjeevani). This news shocks her and for some time she is absolutely confused. Armaan consoles her and they develop friendship and half-way to love. Then two new interns: Dr. Rahul Grewal and Dr. Muskaan Chadha enter to brighten up the story. At first, there is a love square between Armaan, Riddhima, Rahul and Muskaan but slowly problems start to sort out and all of them go their own ways. Sapna leaves Sanjeevani because of her marriage to a patient - she finds out that Shubhankar is not the right man for her and she was merely infatuated with him.

Dr. Keerti and Shubhankar get married while the rest of them fall in love. Next entry of Dr. Nikita Malhotra and Dr. Abhimanyu Modi. Since Sanjeevani's financial condition at that point of the story was not good, Dr. Abhimanyu Modi takes over the hospital from Dr. Shashank. All the interns hate him and try to play tricks on him to leave etc. but none of these work and they have to bear him. Slowly Abhi and Niki start falling in love and finally everyone has got their life partner except Rahul and Muskaan because Rahul finds out he cannot be a father, he leaves Muskaan forever. But the story cannot end like that. Preparations of Armaan and Riddhima are taking place when Armaan has an accident and loses his memory of 2 years. This is a big shock to everyone and mostly to Riddhima. He rememebers nothing about Sanjeevani, his career, his friends and mostly the girl he loved the most: Riddhima. All of the interns try to hide this but eventually he finds out about everything that happened in the 2 years of his life and once again starts loving Riddhima and proposes her again.

Second Season Storyline

A new season of Dill Mill Gayye will start on 22nd of September 2009.

After the leap four new interns and the old interns will become resident doctors. The new interns will be entering Sanjeevani on 22nd of September: Dr. Siddhant Modi, Dr. Tamanna Patil, Dr. Naina Mehra and Dr. Yuvraj.

Sid and Tamanna will always be involved with each other in some way or the other. Sid will turn over a new leaf when he find out that his antics are putting Tamanna in trouble.

Yuvi is the quiet one who stays away from anybody else's activities. His unique character attracts Naina to him. They will eventually turn into friends. She later on becomes the only person Yuvi trusts though they are total opposites. He is silent and speaks only truth. She is talkative and always lies. Still they gel quite well.

Yuvi and Sid dislike each other at first but then become good friends. But later they will have a tiff and will become enemies. In the beginning, Yuvi will be Shashank's favorite. But later, Shashank influences Sid's life positively. Sid manages to impresses Shashank. This is another reason to add to Yuvi and Sid's rivalry. [1]

Sanjeevani is lead by the charismatic veteran Dr Shashank Gupta who is the head of Sanjeevani hospital. He has dedicated his career to serve the patients of Sanjeevani. He is an extremely well known surgery and all interns want to assist him in the operation theater to learn more and also to garner his appreciation though he is hard to impress. He is really strict with the interns but also caring. Dr Riddhima and Dr Anjali are his daughter whom he loves a lot. But still they get no special treatment in Sanjeevani and he treats them as one among the interns. He plays an important role in both seasons of Dill Mill Gayye. His character was also present in the prequel Sanjivani as one of the main leads.

  • Dr. Riddhima Gupta (Shilpa Anand 2007-2008),(Sukirti Kandpal 2008-2009),(Jennifer Winget 2009-Present) - Riddhima is the female lead of the show. She is a 21 year old who is quite intelligent, down to earth and good natured. She wants to fulfill her father's dreams by turning into a good doctor. She maintains good balance of traditional and modern values. She is a good friend who forgives quickly. Riddhima's weak spot is Anjali, who is also her best friend and with whom she shares all her secrets. There is one person, who manages to bother the generally easy going Riddhima and that's Armaan. However hard she tries she just can't ignore his charm.
  • Dr. Armaan Mallik (Karan Singh Grover) - 22 year old Armaan is male lead of the show and represents the new age man; one who is confident, efficient, cheeky and slightly arrogant. He is also quite handsome. He enjoys female company and makes girls go weak on their knees. He loves the female attention he gets and knows how to maintain it. Armaan comes from an affluent family but still has family problems. He is the son of a broken family. Though he is fun loving and flirty, he is extremely focused on his career and wants to do well as a doctor. He has lost two years of his memory after an accident.
  • Dr. Anjali Gupta (Sunaina Gulia) - Anjali at 22, is Shashank's elder daughter and is used to having her way. She is really pretty and is always beauty concious. She is also manipulative. In addition she is also academically intelligent, but her strict doesn't make her a favorite among the patients of Sanjeevani. Her ultimate dream is to become the Head of Sanjeevani like her father because this assures respect and power. At start, She always tried to over take Riddhima but later turned more humble and friendly. She will go to any extend to get what she wants. The way she handles her sister Riddhima makes her manipulative ways more clear.
  • Dr. Atul Joshi (Pankit Thakker) - He is a funny,confused and lovable character. He is the best friend a girl can have though he may not be the perfect boyfriend. He is a good natured, happy go lucky guy, who wants to become a doctor to fulfill the dream of his late father Umesh(Omi), who was part of Sanjeevani in prequel Sanjivani. His father was a doctor of Sanjeevani and a good friend of Shashank Gupta who is also the guardian of Atul. He is a favorite among girls and they involve him in girlie talks. He is in love with Anjali.

  • Dr. Siddhant Modi (Karan Wahi) - A smart and spoilt brat from a rich NRI family. Almost all of his family members are doctors, so he has been forced to become one against his wishes. He is packed off to Sanjeevani to become more focused on his career under the strict supervision of his cousin, Dr. Abhimanyu Modi.

But for Sid life is a one big PS3 game. He is rarely serious about anything in life and has a laid back attitude. He never wanted to turn a doctor because it requires too much of hard work.

He is a gadget freak who hates to work so, he wants to go back to his home in Houston and just relax. Sid is a total flirt who has commitment issues, he is an overgrown kid with a bad temper. The shrew who needs to be tamed. But still he is quite brilliant and takes minimal effort to do well. He first annoys Dr. Shashank to no ends but later manages to impress him with his good qualities and intelligence. [2]

  • Dr. Tamanna Patil (Moulshree Sachdeva) - In sheer contrast to Siddhanth Modi's is Tamanna, girl with middle class moralities. She is responsible daughter of her family, who wants to make her parents proud.

Tamanna is smart, intelligent, compassionate, sensitive girl with a sense of justice. She is a star among the residents of her Chawl. She always wears salwar kameez with a distinct style of her own. She is extremely focused and is working hard to become a doctor to make her father's dream true. She is quite focused on her career and wants no distractions. Her only distraction is Siddhant. [3]

  • Dr. Naina Mehta (Neha Jhulka) - Naina belongs to an affluent orthodox Gujrati family. She is the youngest among the six siblings. She always tries to be cool though she comes from a conservative family. She goes to any lengths to look cool and catch the attention of people.

She hates compromises. She is a convincing and shameless liar though she has no intention to hurt anyone. Her parents plan to marry her off but she wants to focus on her career.

She always maintains a dual identity by leaving home in salwaar kameez traditional look and then transforms into a glamorous avatar which she prefers more. she is always energetic, fun loving and bindaas. She is a chatterbox who is a bit dumb. She loves new adventures and discoveries. She is the one with a rebellious streak. [4]

  • Dr. Yuvraj (Sehban Azim) - He is from a middle class family and has a modern outlook. He has to take care of his family which consists of his mom and sister.

He is ambitious and determined. Also blunt and serious about his work. He soon becomes the favorite of Head of Sanjeevani, Dr. Shashank. He likes to discover new things in life. He believes medical practice is both science and art which he loves.

He has a wicked sense of humor. He is the most balanced and mature among the new interns. You can always be sure that he has a bright future ahead. But not many know that he hides a deep secret and motive behind his arrival to Sanjeevani. There is definitely something mysterious about him. [5]
