well I'll apologize for my "smarmy attitude", but I simply didn't think keeping my team's wikipedia pages up to date would be so much trouble. I'm frustrated, because half the team's pages have outdated pictures and outdated information, but since I'm not a photographer I can't do anything about it. Overall, I've just decided to not edit anything, that should keep everyone happy. I don't uunderstand why people would put their images online and make them freely and easily accessible, if they don't want anyone to use it. One would think that they would make these pictures inaccessible to the general public. [[User:JMWhiteIV|JMWhiteIV]] ([[User talk:JMWhiteIV|talk]]) 18:22, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

Bipolar?

  • I removed him from the bipolar cat and removed mention of it from the article. Stuff like this is textbook stuff we need to be careful of regarding living people bios. If anyone cares to cite it, do so. My googling on whether he has this condition only brings up speculative/unreliable blogs. Wickethewok 21:16, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nationals

I've begun adding details of his career with the Nationals. I will add more, definitive information when i have more time.Hendrixx13 21:07, 06 August 2008

Who removed the parts i added about his career thus far with the Nationals?Hendrixx13 23:58, 18 September 2008

I see the usual wikipedia nonsense of people editing pages for no reason and then being too cowardly to own up is taking place again. This could be the best site on the net, instead its been turned into a joke. Hendrixx13 23:42, 21 September 2008

Photo of a heated Dukes

I took a photo of him getting a bit angry after being brushed back by Mike Pelfrey at Shea. He is being calmed by Lenny Harris and Manny Acta ( and I believe Corrales' head is seen just to the left of Harris). If anyone wants to put it in here (I'm not really sure if it fits (thematically or aesthetically)), it is here: Image:Elijah Dukes - 10 Sept 2008.JPG -Seidenstud (talk) 01:36, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Temperament

I wonder if it would be useful to make mention of Dukes' blowup at Manager Manny Acta on 10 June 2008 season or his reaction to Mets' fans on 10 September 2008. Both seem relevant to demonstrating the sometimes uncontrollable temperament of Dukes and both incidents have been widely covered by the media. Pics/ 2008 season.

I updated the images on this article and I added more detailed information on the 2008 season. JMWhiteIV (talk) 23:16, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your images have been deleted so maybe you should concentrate more on well-sourced content. —Wknight94 (talk) 02:06, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

yeah well, I tried to use generic Associated Press images, the ones that show up on every blog and website under the sun, but apparently that's no good. so forget it. JMWhiteIV (talk) 02:19, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Those are copyrighted. You can't just take any image you find on the Internet and upload it to Wikipedia. Enigma message 02:20, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is there even a such thing as an image on the internet that ISN'T copyrighted? I'm not being smart, I'm genuinely asking. Doesn't really matter anyway though. I'll just have to wait until baseball season and physically take my own pictures of every single player to ensure that these wikipedia pages have current pictures. they can remain outdated until then. JMWhiteIV (talk) 02:31, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's what I did. The picture you keep removing is one I took. —Wknight94 (talk) 02:37, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations. I'll just stick to updating text from here on. less aggravation for everyone. Hopefully a non-professional photographer takes a picture of the Nats players that's somewhat current and is ok to use one day. JMWhiteIV (talk) 02:42, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your smarmy attitude aside, that's the way Wikipedia (and most of the world) works. We can't use copyrighted material on here, period. This is not our opinion; this is the law. There is no such thing as a "generic AP image". There is a complex world of licensing, releases and permissions that can be attributed to an image. For us to use it, we have to make sure that we have permission to use it - or face being sued. If you can't understand that and want to act like we're raining on your parade, that's your prerogative.
