EMLYON Business School (formerly École de management de Lyon) was founded in Lyon (France) in 1872 by the local business community, and is affiliated to the Lyon Chamber of Commerce and Industry. EMLYON is a leading French business school with Triple accreditation: EQUIS by the EFMD, AMBA and the AACSB. The school is consistently ranked among the top three or four business schools in France. In 2007, the school was ranked third in France, and in the top 10 in Europe, by both the Financial Times[1] and The Economist[2]. Also in 2007, Financial Times ranked EM Lyon 6th in Europe for its Master of Science in Management program. It is a member of University of Lyon.

It offers different kinds of programmes:

  • Msc in Management, for students from the french "classes préparatoires" or international students with a bachelor degree;
  • Specialised Masters programmes, in 13 different fields;
  • EMM: European Master in Management, in cooperation with Aston Business School and Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich;
  • International MBA;
  • Executive programmes;
  • Entrepreneurship programmes;
  • PhD programmes.

The school's 3 main orientations

  • Internationalisation: a European identity for a global mission
  • Entrepreneurship: for the development of entrepreneurship and business creation
  • Technology: use of new technologies to advance learning in all programmes.

The three campuses

The main campus is based in Lyon, completed since September 2007 by the new campus based in Geneva, centered on Luxury Management and Marketing. This new campus should offer within the coming years programs in private banking and international organizations[3]

For many years EMLYON has developed partnerships with Chinese universities such as Fudan University[4] or CEIBS[5] in Shangai. A "Master en Administration des Affaires de Canton"(Master of Business Administration) in collaboration with the "Université Lyon-III"(Jean Moulin University Lyon 3)and the Lingnan College (part of the Sun Yat-sen University)was launched in 1997. It is a fully french speaking Master, which has been awarded in 2004 by the Chinese Ministry of Education [6]. EMLYON has opened an office in Shangai in 2000 and a new campus in September 2007 [7] inside the campus of the East China Normal University.
