"Rainy Davis - More than just the founder and president of Rainysongs Entertainment!” The first digital music label owned by an African American Woman that is instrumental in setting the foundation for the digital record labels and independent recording artists. Rainy Davis is a Grammy-nominated songwriter, singer, and record producer. Out of four Billboard Magazine charted singles, Rainy Davis is known best for her song Sweetheart. When that song hit the airwaves, it was magic. Sweetheart became an indelible part of the public consciousness. A generation of fans adopted the song as their anthem to romantic love, giving it a permanent and powerful place in their collective psyche. The single was originally released on the New York-based independent label called Supertronics Records. However, after the song became a hit in the clubs, then on urban radio and eventually crossing over to pop radio, Columbia Records A&R Exec Joe McEwen offered Rainy Davis an attractive production / artist deal which included buying Rainy's previous contract & masters outright with Supertronics (her then current label) for worldwide distribution. Rainy Davis went on to record two albums for Columbia Records and has received numerous awards for her contributions to hit songs over the years.

Jermaine Dupri and Mariah Carey recorded Rainy’s Song "Sweetheart" as a duet on JDs’Life in 1472 album and released it in the summer of 1998. It was the follow-up single to "Money Aint a Thing," which featured Jay-Z. It then became the lead-off single on Mariah Carey's #1's. In an interview with Vibe Magazine Mariah Carey said of the inspiration for recording Sweetheart, "I was thinking of the old songs I used to listen to when I was in school. It's a really cute record. Young girls’ll like it the way I liked it when I was growing up". "Sweetheart" went on to earn a Grammy nomination for best rap duo as a single from the Life in 1472 album and Sweetheart was included on the 1999 Grammy Rap Nominees album. Mariah Carey included and released Sweetheart on her following albums: Mariah Carey Greatest Hits, and Mariah Carey The Remixes album. From 1998 through 2005, Rainy Davis song "Sweetheart" by Mariah Carey and Jermaine Dupri sold in excess of 21 million copies worldwide. This rare success has given Rainy Davis permanent credibility in this business of music thanks to Mariah Carey, Jermaine Dupri and all the fans worldwide.
HOW DID THE SONG SWEETHEART BEGIN ________________________________________________________________________________________________
At the request of Amir Bayyan, (personal friend of the Jacksons), Rainy Davis wrote "Sweetheart" with producer Pete Warner for Janet Jackson. When the demo was finished all the songs for her 1986 album Control, had been chosen. Amir Bayyan, Christine Bayyan and Chris Lord Alge suggested to Rainy that she release the song herself, and as a result it became a major hit in the dance and club scene and on urban & pop radio.
RAINY'S MUSIC CAREER ________________________________________________________________________________________________
Even before Sweetheart, Rainy Davis was paying her dues. She was singing with a local band called Jamilia (with band members Keith Sweat, Charisse Davis & group founder Larry Peoples) until she joined the female singing group created and produced by Patrick Adams - Musique, who garnered the club pop hits “In The Bush” and “Keep On Jumpin”. After a few weeks of rehearsals with their new band, Musique was out on the road and Rainy Davis was a member of the female trio group Musique with Becky Bell & Marisa Dejean. Rainy was now on her first tour as a member of a group with two songs that hit #1 on the Billboard Disco Action Charts and then crossing over to a pop hit record. The tour was booked throughout North America by the Norby Walters Agency.
