Mission10X is a Not–for-Profit Trust created by Wipro Ltd.It was initiated with the aim of enhancing the employability skills of fresh Engineering Graduates in India, and was launched on 5 September 2007,[1] celebrated as Teacher’s Day in India[5], . Mission10X is a fast growing academic community of learners and innovators.

History

Wipro Limited identified that there is a significant number of engineering graduates in India who do not possess employability skills. To address this challenge, and also as a part of its Quantum Innovation project, [2] Wipro planned to create a significant change in the employability landscape[3][1] of India.

Azim Premji, Chairman,Wipro Ltd., launched Mission10X on 5 September 2007, amongst a huge gathering of senior academicians[4] from Engineering Institutions across India. The Mission10X Faculty Empowerment Workshops started on 12th November 2007.

Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives

The Vision of Mission10X is to increase employability skills of fresh engineering graduates in India.
The Mission is to empower faculty members in engineering institutions by conducting Mission10X Faculty Empowerment Workshops. These worskhops help faculty members to understand and practice better teaching learning processes.
The Goal is to empower 10,000 faculty members in engineering institutions by these workshops within 5 September 2010.
The Objective is to train faculty members on various Pedagogical practices and to help them obtain International Certifications in Teaching and Learning.

Workshops

Mission10X conducts TWO Faculty Empowerment Workshops:

  • Mission10X Workshop – 5 full-day workshop for 30 faculty members chosen from 3 different engineering institutions.

This program is oriented towards building continuous professional development for teachers of engineering education. It is primarily designed to shift the paradigm from teaching to learning and transform the learning cultures in the institutions of engineering education

  • Mission10X Advanced Workshop (Post-Workshop) – 2 full-day workshop for 30 faculty members

This workshop is oriented towards preparing the faculty members towards creation and practice of Active learning strategies in engineering course delivery that are also requirements for obtaining the International Certifications.

Mission10X Learning Framework

The Mission10X Learning Approach (MxLA) was conceived to empower engineering faculty members with innovative teaching techniques and tools that would enable their learners to:

  • Imbibe higher levels of understanding of engineering courses
  • Effectively apply concepts learnt in varying practical situations
  • Develop key behavioral skills required for employability

MxLA is sensitive to the contemporary intellectual development in the human and social sciences and derives its essence from multiple disciplines, methods and approaches. Amongst many Pedagogical and Andragogical approaches, the MxLA focuses on Benjamin S. Bloom’s Taxonomy of educational objectives and Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligence Theory

International Certifications

Mission10X Faculty Empowerment Workshops help faculty members with sufficient learning and provides an opportunity to acquire the following certificates that contribute towards their professional development:

  • Mission10X Dale Carnegie Certificate in High Impact Teaching Skills[5]
  • Cambridge International Certificate for Teachers and Trainers[6]
  • Mission10X Certificate in Teaching and Learning[7]
