Mega Man 10 (ロックマン10 宇宙からの脅威!!, Rokkuman 10: Uchū kara no Kyōi!!, lit. Rockman 10: Threat From Outer Space!!)[2] is the upcoming tenth main entry of the classic Mega Man series (not including Mega Man & Bass). Like its predecessor, Mega Man 9, it will be a downloadable title for the same services -- WiiWare, PlayStation Network, and Xbox Live Arcade -- and is based on the look and feel of the early NES titles. It will be released on March 1, 2010 for WiiWare, then March 11, 2010 for PlayStation Network, and finally March 31, 2010 for XBox Live Arcade.[1]

Plot

A robotic illness known as Roboenza starts infecting robots, causing them to malfunction, with Roll becoming one of the victims. A month following the outbreak, the infected robots go berserk and attempt to take over the world. Mega Man goes to stop them, with Proto Man deciding to help him out.[3]

Gameplay

Mega Man 10 will have three playable characters: Mega Man, Proto Man and an unnamed third character. The Robot Masters in the game are Sheep Man, Commando Man, Blade Man, Strike Man, Solar Man, Chill Man, Nitro Man, and Pump Man.[1][4][5][6] An easy mode will also be included in the game (which has been compared in difficulty to Mega Man 2) that alters levels, such as placing platforms over spike pits. There will also be a 'Mega Man Challenges' mode where players can practice their skills. Returning features from the previous game include an in-between level item shop and downloadable content.[7]

Development

Mega Man 10 was developed by Inti Creates, a company which developed games in the Mega Man Zero and Mega Man ZX series. Much of the staff previously worked at Capcom, and developed several Nintendo Entertainment System titles, including the early Mega Man games.

Like Mega Man 9, the game is a return to the series's roots, as the graphics and music resemble how their original games looked and sounded on the Nintendo Entertainment System's hardware. All the graphics and sound are made from scratch. The game runs on a engine that simulates the behavior of 8-bit video games, even going so far as to include the option to add sprite flicker, known as Legacy Mode.

Audio

Rockman 10 Original Soundtrack is the first of two albums to be made. It is to be released in March 2010 by Inti Creates.[8]
