:Hi! Any editor is welcome to work on any article, in good faith, to improve the article. There is no "you all" here; no one "owns" any WP article. == Third World Cup Overall Title?==

Although it is very likely that Lindsey will gain her third overall world cup, she has not won it yet (March 9, 2010). In contrast, she has taken the three discipline titles (downhill, super G, super combination) before the world cup final.--141.201.155.4 (talk) 19:53, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

University of Missouri

Lindsey Vonn didn't attend the University of Missouri. She participated in MU High School. MU High School is a distance learning program for high school students administered by the University of Missouri. She has most likely has never set foot in Columbia. Please make the correction. http://livewire.missouri.edu/2010/02/vonncouver-games.php —Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.201.80.74 (talk) 20:39, 18 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Correction needed

Someone who has authority to correct a minor point needs to correct the second paragraph under Personal life. It reads:

"When she was 10 years old she met Olympic gold medal skier Picabo Street, whom she considers her hero and role model."

The correction should be to change "hero" to "heroin." Heroine is the female gender of hero. Picabo Street is a female. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.197.231.166 (talk) 03:03, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done Thank you for that. Sorry you can't edit it yourself, but there have been problems with unregistered editors in the past. HJ Mitchell | fancy a chat? 03:06, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Given the tendency toward gender-neutral nouns, e. g., actor or "server" (waiter/waitress) = male or female, it probably wasn't necessary. No objection, though. Unimaginative Username (talk) 03:35, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reads like a commercial advertisment

Th article has numerous references to commercial sponsors, including in the biographical information box. Is this really necessary? I don't see commercial sponsor information under the biographies of Barak Obama or other famous personalities. Are "skiing biographies" a special category that require this commercial information? --mgaved (talk) 13:18, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, I think the information should be removed from the athlete's box as well. The athlete's box should really focus on the athlete's achievements, personal information, etc.Philipmj24 (talk) 20:02, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This talk page is not the correct place for comments about the parameters (such as skis/boots/bindings and sponsor) available in the infobox, Template:Infobox Alpine ski racer. Those comments belong at Template talk:Infobox Alpine ski racer.
And mgaved, your comment about Obama just makes no sense: the President has no commercial sponsors, while almost all professional athletes do. So it is reasonable that athlete biographies may mention some of the most significant sponsors. For a skier, the brand of skis used is an important detail which often deserves mention. Your claim that this article "Reads like a commercial advertisment"[sic] is hyperbolic and not really true. You are always free to edit and improve the article if you wish to. --Seattle Skier (talk) 07:03, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Age discrepancy

"In 1999, Vonn became the first American to win at Italy's Trofeo Topolino (for skiers of 11-14 age)"
If she was born October 18, 1984, she'd have been 15, unless the race were held, or the season started, on or before October 17, 1984, which seems unlikely. Or unless they count your age as of January 1 of that year, which seems even more unlikely, as then almost everyone would be one year higher in age during most of the season. Does anyone know?

Also corrected "of 11-14 age" to "of ages 11-14".

While I was here, fixed yet *another* instance of confusing "regiment" (division of soldiers) with "regimen" (training routine, diet, etc.) Unimaginative Username (talk) 03:22, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Trofeo Topolino takes place at the beginning of March. Kildow would have been 14 for the 1999 race. And, in fact, here's the website link (note that they misspell her last name) -- which leads to the question of whether she or McDonald won first, but who really cares?--AyaK (talk) 20:21, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ahh, it was the 1998-99 season (facepalm) ... shame on me for assuming the 1999 season (-2000). Thanks for clarifying.
As for the results, are those perhaps 1-2 finishes? ... and yes, someone who speaks Italian should write to them to correct the name spelling. Cheers. Unimaginative Username (talk) 07:35, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No, they're male-female winners. In every single category on the page except one, the male winner is listed first, then the female winner. Lindsey Kildow is the only exception in the entire list. No idea why, unless it's to support her claim that she was the first American to win there. -- AyaK (talk) 18:28, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Raises a more serious issue of lack of citation

Upon reviewing AyaK's comment, and the article, there is no citation for the statement that Vonn was the first American to win at the Trofeo Topolino. Although this is favorable information, not libelous, it might be unfavorable to another skier who was actually the first American to win there. If it's nothing more than Vonn's personal claim, it's not reliably sourced. If someone cannot substantiate this claim through reliable sources within a reasonable period of time, the claim of being the first American to win should be deleted, though the victory itself is well-sourced by AyaK (and that citation could be added in the absence of substantiation of the greater "first American" claim).
