Revision as of 02:36, 5 April 2010

I am prone to spontaneously signing out in the middle of a discussion. If this happens, don't think I'm ignoring your comment. I'll be back soon.
If you leave me a message here, I'll normally respond here unless either a) you have a different preference on your talk page or b) you have responded here to a message I left on your talk. This is partly because I have many helpful talk page stalkers who may reply for me in my absence. If I leave you a message, respond wherever you like. Chances are I'll have your talk watchlisted anyway.

Since you are using that signature now, it would be a good idea to register "Spizzilizounge" or "Lord Spizzilizounge" for doppelganger purposes. December21st2012Freak Talk to me at ≈ 19:52, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a need for two alt accounts?Abce2 (talk) 03:27, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sort of...it's a doppelganger, not an editing account...or...no, I don't follow you. Do you mean the two suggested by D21st2012F? I've only made one of those, and don't plan to make the other. But why does it really matter? Accounts are cheap. Like redirects. They aren't a huge problem so long as they don't make edits...or are they... Yay

Well I now have just as many GA's as you LSF. How about that? Guess I am going on to round two of the WP:wikicup afterall.--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 18:07, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that. I am glad to hear it. I was about to leave an irrelevant comment somewhere, but decided against it. Any chance of your WWII nom doing anything soon? I keep meaning to compile a list of badly formatted refs I can't do, but never get time. I've been on a semi-break for a while, but I should be back to normal activity next week. (P.S. - Was that "no to round two" supposed to be "on to round two"), Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 18:43, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'll take a look at WWII. IMHO, we should just tell Nikimaria that she can pass/fail it now. I don't really care. I mean, I can just re-nominate the article and actually get points for it in the Wikicup.--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 18:51, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
She's gone "traveling". May as well give us until she comes back. Please?! I promise to work on it over next week! ...please... I'm ninety...four...point seven percent sure it would fail. It would be a close fail, but for such a high profile article...it needs to have the highest standards. I'm using the ellipsis too much aren't I? Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 18:56, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well what ref's are still missing? You seem to have more edits to the artilce than me now beause you have to fix these things.--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 19:03, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No refs are missing (as far as I know). It's just formatting. Some are missing ISBNs, publishers, or years (well, that's books. Web citations are a different matter). Some were ordered differently, i.e. some might have been set out as "last name, first name, date, title, publiser, isbn" others could be "first, last, title, year, publisher" etc. I've added a citation template to almost every reference, as that formats them automatically, and added in info as I went along. Now I'm going through the list to catch the ones that already had cite templates, but were missing stuff, or were used incorrectly. I have a terrible system, I know. I would do more work on it if my browser didn't take so long to load the damn page... Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 19:14, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well If you've got everything but the correct citation format, then I guess I can help out again. I can't really do anything about the ISBN numger though..... I'll take a look at the refs though. PS, how far are you in correcting all of the citations? Are you going in order or just jumping around?--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 19:17, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've mostly finished the formats, it's mainly missing info now. I was going alphabetically (using ctrl+F) to begin with; now I'm going through the reflist one by one...shouldn't take too long...it will get done. If there's any I can't do, I'll write them down and bring it up at the GAR page, Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 19:27, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
does that mean that I should wait for you to bring them up on the GAN?--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 19:31, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Possibly...it may be slightly awkward with two people working on this kind of thing. By all means, do it if you want, or if you see I've made any mistakes correct them. Or get a head start. Or do a few random ones. Whatever really. Up to you. Right now, I'm in the middle of a string of awkward refs, with specific chapters written by different authors. My brain is about to explode. If you want to help with the (hypothetical) difficult ones, of course you can, but you'll have to really do your homework. I have a feeling some may be fakes, or very obscure self-publications... Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 19:47, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Pretty much dito to everything. Trust me, I have almost every WWII related book/published source that I can think of and yet, I've never even heard of some of these refs.--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 20:22, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yep. Sorry for disappearing there, but then that's what the warning at the top of this page is for. By the way (and I'm not trying to critiscise your general spelling, I've seen you do this a few times), "dito" is normally spelled "ditto". According to the Urban Dictionary, one 'n' means something...rather different... Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 21:48, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OH well. I'll have to remember that.--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 22:02, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, it's from 1953. ISBN's didn't come out until 1976 (or somewhere around that year). —Ed (talkmajestic titan) 13:49, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Argh! Can't believe I never noticed that. I would have knew as well (I figured it out with an earlier WWII cite). Well, thanks for pointing that out, I'll be able to sleep easy tonight, Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 14:59, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well This is the last article that we need to work on in order to make Battle of Belgium a WP:GTC. I noticed that you made a couple of edits to it. So what do you think is left before we can nominate it for a GAN?--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 20:55, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Uh...well...to be honest, I have no idea. Sorry. I'm not good at the assessment sort of thing. Probably more-or-less what you said at Dapi's talk page. Maybe if you linked up the footnotes to their corresponding references, though I might do that if I figure out how (and if it's appropriate). Good luck on getting it to GTC, though. If I were you, I'd nominate it, and even if it doesn't pass, all the issues should have been raised. Kinda like what happened to WWII. Nah, that'd be too easy......

P.S. - I should have those WWII refs finished by tomorrow at the latest. Well, not finished, there are about half a dozen ones outstanding. If I just CAN'T do them, I'll list them at the GAR, Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 21:09, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you sooo much for everything. I'll nominate the Hannut article and as for WWII. IF/when it passes, you WILL get co-nom status for it. Don't act soo modest this time! WWII is your third GA as much as it is mine. I'll also be sure to give Buzzzsherman, and TH partial credit as well. Think of it like this, it took one person to nominate it, but four to get it passed.--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 21:16, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Good good. I'll go watchlist everything in a minute. I was going to refuse WWII credit initially (if it does pass), but after spending hours of my life making those horrible minor edits - ugh - I don't think I'd feel so bad anymore. To think I joined Wikipedia to do this. I thought that would be my only edit! Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 21:21, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Same here. My first edit was to Glass of Water. Now, I'm writeing whole artilces! (I'm saveing this one for after round 1 of the wikicup. It will be a DYK)--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 21:25, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Glass of- oh, that glass of water. I find glass of water hilarious when printed, for some reason. How long does the Wikicup last anyway? Is it the whole year? Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 21:42, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
What did you mean about Galss fo Water? It's a song. And the Wikicup lasts until October 31 of this year. Though I'll be lucky to move on past round 2. But hey, I was'nt even expectiong to gat any points at all, and yet I have 100! That's like 20th place! (See WP:CUP for the full list of rounds)--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 21:47, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, at first I thought you meant a Glass of Water as in a glass containing water. If it existed, it would be a pretty strange article to spend your first edit on. To be honest, I didn't expect you to get (m)any points either (no offence), but you've done surprisingly well. I think I'll work on Hannut's citations in my User:Spongefrog/Sandbox, which rarely exists. I use it for changes I might finish, but might not, in the same edit. If I have to stop, I save it to the sandbox, if I don't, I just add it straight to the article. I am a genius. Right now the cites look like a strange mixture of the deprecated harvard reference and...something else I can't put my finger on, Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 21:55, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well thanks. I'll be sure to give you credit for this GAN as well (If we nominate it) And no, there is no article on a glass containing water. Should'nt you have know that My first edit was to be to a Coldplay song? (hense my name...) And yeah, I was supprised that I have 100 points for the WC too. Next year, you need to participate. You don't need to write DYK's, just promote GA's with me. (Or by yourself, whatever you choose to do)--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 22:00, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No! No-no, no-no, no-no, NO (to the tune of that weird opera bit that comes after "Let him go! Bismillah, noooo we will not let you go!" in Bohemian Rhapsody). Unless I end up doing more than I anticipate, I haven't done enough to justify (theoretical) BoH credit. Yet. I don't think I'd stand a chance in the Wikicup. I can't find articles to improve, and when I try to inprove them, I usually run them to a standstill when I run out of references. Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 22:06, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I can help you out. Pick and artilce and we can promote it together.--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 22:12, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Argh! Sorry, I never noticed that post. I was edit previewing, and I got the message messages mixed up. Long story. Anyway, picking out articles is my problem. I can't find any! I think I'll just tag along and copy edit behind you. But I'll let you know if I see anything worth improving (P.S. - Finished WWII cites) Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 20:02, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Alright then. I hope that you semi-enjoy editing the Franco-Prussian War and WWII then. And I hope that you like Coldplay :) Their fith album is expected to come out late this year, and I'll be makeing several edits to that article. PS: That's great! Has Nikkimaria seen it yet? Will it pass now?--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 23:20, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nikkimaria saw it and- actually, you've probably seen it for yourself at the GAR. There's just one ref, no. 285 I think. May need to be replaced (but that shouldn't be too hard, as long as some info is tweaked slightly). BTW, wouldn't you be better submitting Battle of Hannut at the WP:MILHIST page? You'll probably get a quicker repsonse, Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 20:46, 17 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A job for you

Well once we get the GAN of World War II and Battle of Hannut over and done with, I've got another job for us to do. Battle of the Bulge. This was once a TFA but now it's been delisted and is at start class. It requires some (a lot) more citations and for thge existing ones to be corrected. I have all of the sources that the article requires. (I'm adding them now) but I need your help to correct the existing citations as well as the links to other websites. (Author, accessdate, work, publisher, ISBN, Page number ect...) and I'll add in new citations that will be fully sourced so that way you don't get "Citation overload" like you did with the WWII article. Once the citations are fixed, I'll re-nominate it for a GA. Sounds good? Perhaps we need to draw up a list for us. Like "we work on X then we move on to Y then we nominate Z ect ect...--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 04:43, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good good. At least I won't get bored. I'll take a look as soon as I get time. BTW, I notice you're judging articles based on their WP:MILHIST rating, wouldn't it be better to ask for assessment there? (or maybe that's not the way it works, I'm not sure) You'll almost definitely get a quicker response too, the normal GAN page is backlogged like...something...that's...really backlogged. About the list, I'll leave that to you, I have neither knowledge nor preference, but maybe working on some of the Fall Gelb articles? Or you could even create one for Case Yellow. There's a Fall Rot article. Or maybe it isn't significant enough. Just a suggestion, take it or leave it, Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 11:22, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well there's always User:Coldplay Expert/Case Yellow for you to work on. I hope to in a few years to so, get all of these to B or GA class. So for only 2 are at GA and only about 2-3 are at B class. Alot of work to do but for now, let's get Battle of Hannut and Battle of the Bulge done with. Only 2 at a time!--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 19:21, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've got it

Well now that WWII is a GA, I've been looking for another article that we can work on. I've taken a look at Eastern Front (World War II), Battle of France, World War I and others but I think that Battle of the Netherlands is the next one we shoudl get to GA status. I attempted a GA of it back in november but it failed. We need the citations fixed along with adding other citations. I've got the adding citations part down but I'll need you to go around and fix the existing ones. This time, I'm not going to skip around and abandon the project like I have with other ones. I'll work on it all of the way until it gets to GA status.--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 20:46, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm on it! Actually I'm not. But I will be tomorrow! Don't worry about abandoning things halfway, you can always come back them; it's good to have a few things going at once. Otherwise you run out of stuff to do, like me, Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 20:57, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to start uploading maps showing the occupation of the Netherlands day by day. I started on it a while ago but stoped. Anyway, I'll see you working there tomorrow.--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 21:09, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
