Maud Luse (January 21, 1887 – March 18, 2002)(nee Davis) was an American supercentenarian and the oldest recognized person in the world from June 2001 until her own death some nine months later at age 115. She was succeeded in as such by Kamato Hongo, whose age has been disputed.
Early years
Maude Davis was born in Morley, Michigan, but moved to Steuben County, Indiana in 1891. She was 16 years old when, with her mother's permission, she married Jason Ferris, a farmer from Angola, Indiana, who worked in the livery stable of a hotel, in 1903. That was also the year Farris-Luse first saw an automobile. [citation needed]
Personal life
She and her husband, who later changed the spelling of his name to "Farris", although not all of their children did so, moved to Coldwater, Michigan in 1925, where the last of their seven children was born. After her first husband's death in 1951, she married Walter Luse. While her given name was "Maude", in her later years she spelled her name as "Maud" until her death. [1]

Farris-Luse outlived six of her seven children.
Legacy
She holds the record as the oldest person ever from the state of Michigan.
