David Kross (German: David Kroß; born 4 July 1990) is a German actor.

Biography

Life

David Kross was born in Henstedt-Ulzburg, 20 miles north of Hamburg, but he grew up in Bargteheide, where he attended Eckhorst High School[1] until He finished school, in 2007.He has two brothers and one sister. In his free time, he played basketball at the professional TSV between 2004 to 2006.

Since Summer of 2009, Kross was living in London. In there, he started, in september, a 3 year study at London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).[2] His plan was improve his acting skills at the same time he was improving his english. But he dropped in the end of the year. Since then, he is living in Berlin-Charlottenburg.

His career started with a small appearance in Hilfe, ich bin ein Junge.[3] In December of 2003, he joined Blaues Wölkchen, a small group from a children's theater in Bargteheide. His first major theatrical appearance was in Auftritt in Kirsten Martensens Inszenierung Von Hilfe . After that, came other parts, mostly minor roles.

In 2005, through his daughter Bernadette, Detlev Buck heard about David, Who auditioned for Knallhart[4] and Buck called him to be the protagonist.[5] Kross played a 15-year-old boy, Michael Polischka, who moves with his mother from a rich neighborhood of Berlin to a suburb of the city, where there are a lot of illegal immigrants from Turkey. With this movie David not only won praise at Berlinale in 2006, but also won Best Actor in Nuremberg, at 11th Filmfestival Deutschland/Tuerkei. [6]

In 2006, Kross again worked with Detlev Buck, Hände weg von Mississippi, playing a baker apprentice. In the fall on the same year, he started shooting, in Romania. A new movie from Marco Kreuzpaintner, Krabat. On this film version of Otfried Preußler’s children's book, Kross is the leading actor, playing Krabat, one of the apprentices of magic, with Christian Redl, Daniel Brühl and Robert Stadlober. The movie was released on September 19th, 2007 in movies festivals and, on October of 2008, in the cinemas.
