Wikipedia is not a memorial service Vinithehat (talk) 17:02, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

He has gotten pre-death coverage in general about what its like to crab fish. Should be possible to make a decent article talking about him and why he is notable: for being the face of an obscure profession turned popular TV show and captain of a notable boat. 24.131.238.252 (talk) 19:30, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm surprised that he didn't already have his own article. He's definitely notable enough for it. He's one of the two leads on Deadliest Catch. Sig Hansen, the other of the two, has his own article. Grundle2600 (talk) 22:36, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just to add my 2 cents, Harris has co-starred in an internationally broadcast television series for the better part of 6 years. His death received international coverage. Other captains/costars on the series such a Sig Hansen rate their own articles. Personally I think all the ongoing captains satisfy notability to have their own articles, either in terms of TV performers (and they are, to a degree, performers - there's even a Deadliest Catch fan convention) or in terms of their prominence in their particular industry. There are also books dedicated to Deadliest Catch that discuss Harris and the others. As far as I'm concerned there are more than enough Wikipedia notability guidelines satisfied to give Harris an article. 68.146.81.123 (talk) 01:31, 18 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Words to Live By

Harris once stated, "You're not a man 'til you've pulled a tooth out with a pair of pliers."[1]

Is this necessary? There's no commentary, no explanation of why it's here. Can anyone provide some context, or should it just be removed entirely? Reach Out to the Truth 03:42, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm the one who added it. It's interesting because it shows his tough guy image, as well as his sense of humor. Grundle2600 (talk) 04:29, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If we can add some text to fill in the gaps & provide context that would be good. Dawnseeker2000 04:46, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The source just has the quote. I remember him saying it when I watched the episode, so I know the context, but for me to mention that without a source would be original research. Having a quote is better than having nothing. Grundle2600 (talk) 09:07, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

God Bless you Phil

I miss Phil, great guy and love his country. An All American guy and supported 6 families. Gave money to our troops and supported the US military. He will be missed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.95.140.176 (talk) 05:36, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
