Proposed Changes

Effective August 8, 2010, the MMVTA will revamp their entire system.[2]

  • Commuter- The former Route A will retain a similar configuration, but travel to Speers will be eliminated due to the relocation of the transit garage. Schedules are said to be redesigned to better correspond with the needs of workers.
  • Commuter Express- A new route is set to provide a rush hour alternative for Pittsburgh travel that serves only the largest Valley towns and that travels along Pennsylvania Route 43, a toll freeway.
  • Cal Commuter- Direct access will be provided between California University and Pittsburgh for the first time, as an express route will travel between the school and the city via Route 43.
  • Valley 1- The former Green Line will be renamed and travel along a more simplified route.
  • Valley 2- As Route B will be eliminated because of service redundancies, the section of that line south of Charleroi will be incorporate into this route, which will terminate at the Rostraver shopping plazas.
  • Valley 3- The current Silver Line shuttle at California University will be renamed.
  • Valley 4- The Red and Blue lines will be combined to allow easier access between Charleroi, Monessen, and the Mon Valley Hospital.
  • ValleyLINK- The ValleyLINK will temporarily be suspended due to low ridership.
