NEW NOMINATIONS

Category:Mad Men (TV series) --> Category:Mad Men episodes

Category:Mad Men (TV series) - Template:Lc1
Nominator's rationale: Rename - per the lead article Mad Men the disambiguation is unnecessary and the rename reflects the category's contents. Otto4711 (talk) 22:37, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Children of Elijah Muhammad

Category:Children of Elijah Muhammad - Template:Lc1
Nominator's rationale: Delete. We don't generally categorize people for being the children of their parents. Some of these may be notable only for being Nation of Islam leaders, in which case they could be categorized in Category:Members of the Nation of Islam. Good Ol’factory (talk) 22:30, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong keep There are multiple articles. There are multiple articles to substantiate a category. Each individual is notable by himself. (These children come from different mothers.) Thanks. Ism schism (talk) 22:38, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Four-String Banjo Hall of Fame Inductee

Category:Four-String Banjo Hall of Fame Inductee - Template:Lc1
Nominator's rationale: Delete. Another garden variety hall of fame inductee category. These categories for awards and halls of fame are usually listified when nominated. A list already exists at Four-String Banjo Hall of Fame Members. Good Ol’factory (talk) 22:25, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Soyfoods

Propose merging Category:Soyfoods to Category:Soy products
Nominator's rationale: Merge. Recently created duplicate category. Good Ol’factory (talk) 22:17, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Mustard Aficionados

Category:Mustard Aficionados - Template:Lc1
Nominator's rationale: Delete. We don't categorize people for being "aficionados" or "hobbyists" of anything. The article about the museum should be moved to Category:Mustard (in fact, it's already there), but I don't see any need to keep Dave Dameshek within the mustard tree. Good Ol’factory (talk) 22:13, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Music videos directed by Sherman Halsey

Category:Music videos directed by Sherman Halsey - Template:Lc1
Nominator's rationale: Parent article Sherman Halsey was deleted for failing WP:ANYBIO. This is akin to a precedent at Category talk:Albums by producer#New guidelines (further established at this CFD and this CFD, among others) that albums should not be categorized by producer if the producer doesn't have an article. I would think the same would apply for music video directors — if the director doesn't have an article, then the videos shouldn't be categorized by director. The number of videos directed is immaterial; Richard Landis produced at least 20 albums that I can think of, and his category was deleted. Category:Cedars-Sinai Medical Center

Category:Cedars-Sinai Medical Center - Template:Lc1
Nominator's rationale: Delete. OC small. Appears to be the only hospital in California with a category so there is no series. Has article on the hospital and two people. Vegaswikian (talk) 20:10, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Critical Access Hospitals in the United States

Category:Critical Access Hospitals in the United States - Template:Lc1
Nominator's rationale: Delete. Apparently a CAH, is a hospital classified by medicare to receive extra payments to keep it from closing. Not sure if this is defining enough for a category. A list would probably be better. I'll note that a quick search shows that in 2009, there were over 1,300 hospitals with this designation. From scanning the articles, the hospitals seem to be small at least one having only 6 beds. Vegaswikian (talk) 19:51, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Dalit Monuments

Propose renaming Category:Dalit Monuments to Category:Dalit monuments
Nominator's rationale: Speedy rename or alternately delete as too obscure. —Justin (koavf)TCM19:47, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Darius Danesh songs

Propose renaming Category:Darius Danesh songs to Category:Darius Danesh songs
Nominator's rationale: Per Darius Danesh/Darius CampbellJustin (koavf)TCM19:41, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Darius Danesh albums

Propose renaming Category:Darius Danesh albums to Category:Darius Campbell albums
Nominator's rationale: Per Darius Danesh/Darius CampbellJustin (koavf)TCM19:41, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Category:The Beatles songs sung by George Harrison

Category:The Beatles songs sung by George Harrison - Template:Lc1
Nominator's rationale: Overcategorization, redundant to sorting on List of The Beatles songs. —Justin (koavf)TCM18:56, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Delete: Certain over-categorization. Democraticmacguitarist (talk) 21:41, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Cities in Romania

Propose renaming Category:Cities in Romania to Category:Municipiu in Romania
Nominator's rationale: Rename as proposed or to whatever the correct plural version is. Cities apparently don't exist in Rominia and this would match the name of the main article. When we did the top level rename, we said that at the country level we should be using the terminology that actually exists in the various countries. After reading the article, it would appear that the correct parent for this may be Category:Towns in Romania. But the article is not totally clear since it also calls these places cities. So, I'm ready to be educated. Vegaswikian (talk) 18:30, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Cities in Cluj County

Propose renaming Category:Cities in Cluj County to Category:Cities and towns in Cluj County
Nominator's rationale: Huedin is a town, not a city, so this should be renamed to encompass both categories of localities. Biruitorul Talk 15:44, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Light sockets

Category:Light sockets - Template:Lc1
Nominator's rationale: Delete. Redundant. A light socket is the part of a light fixture that accepts a lamp (i.e. light bulb), and sometimes contains the light switch. It is not a category of things (unless we were going to write about specific makes/models of light sockets, but don't you think that that would be unnotable? :-), but rather something that only needs mention in it's own article. This category was created by User:Radiojon, who added the following articles to this category, often removing the old categories in the process (however, he created a couple of these articles, which are marked with a *):
Light socket was the "main" article, but is the only article with anything relevant to a 'light socket'. All the other articles deal more with bulb/lamp bases (i.e. the connector on the bulb itself) than light sockets. It almost appears that User:Radiojon believes that 'light socket' is synonymous with 'bulb/lamp base'. All of these articles were formerly part of this category, but I removed the category from those articles, and (except on Automotive lamp types) replaced it with Category:Lighting, Category:Electrical connectors, and Category:Mechanical standards (except on Light socket). (remember that I did all this before coming here and reading that I'm not supposed to remove these articles from the category yet! :-) All three replacement categories were the original categories for Edison screw, but they seemed to be fitting replacements. It turns out that even Light socket dealt mostly with bulb bases originally! (untill I (partially) fixed that by adding relevant info). So with this category being redundant, I am suggesting that it be deleted. (Sorry it this seems to be a mouthful, but I'm just trying to explain my reasons fully. ;-). Category:Online social networking

Propose renaming Category:Online social networking to Category:Social network services
Nominator's rationale: Per main article, social network service. —Justin (koavf)TCM06:28, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Allis-Chalmers

Propose renaming Category:Allis-Chalmers to Category:Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Company
Nominator's rationale: Rename. Rename to match main article. Vegaswikian (talk) 02:38, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
