~Hmmm...no. Hardcore could be like....Intensely loyal, die-hard fans of the 'old' Behemoth who were dissapointed by the change that the band underwent and therefore felt that the band had 'sold out'...something like that? I don't really think it's relevant to Hardcore music.

Satanic?

For lack of a better term, yes. The band is based around Pagan beliefs, but they do have a pretty considerable amount of Satanic references and references to religious texts (The Apostasy inner sleeve featured a quote from the Hymn to Lucifer by Aleister Crowley). Behemoth - well, at least Nergal himself - practice Thelema, the occult belief spearheaded by Aleister Crowley in the 20th Century. Crowley himself in turn, borrowed from other religions in his attacks on Christianity (for instance, both Set (Egyptian) and Baphomet are deities in Thelema, and he reffered to himself as 'the Beast'), just as Behemoth do. - Dark Prime

Blackened death?

I don't know much about Behemoth, I admit, but I'm pretty sure the stuff they play now sounds to me like death metal pretty much. Very little black metal influence. Actually a lot of genre categorization reaches beyond just musical elements. However, it's really useless to argue these things, considering how much bands change over time. Yeah they aren't purely death, and they aren't purely black (not enough symphonic sounds and atmosphere in my opinion), but really, no one cares except the people who associate themselves with such labels. If genres are debated, I don't see why Wikipedia doesn't just list them all, thus showing that a band has elements of certain ones, and are not restricted to one sound (since most bands don't sound the same one album to the next). Listing all possible genres on a band's infobox would create serious edit warring. Anti-Christianity in lyrics doesn't make an album one genre or another. Black metal is about a sound (one that Behemoth doesn't seem to display anymore) not lyrics. Blizzard Beast ^$ODIN$ 21:49, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

The Black metal elements in Behemoth's music have nearly disappeared, they are clearly not worth listing Behemoth as Black metal or Blackened death metal. I think if the band had no past in Black metal no one would even think about characterizing them as Blackened death metal. So i don't know shit about editing and stuff like that, but i know bad writing. This is THE most biased thing ive ever read about a band. this is so not-PoV safe. can someone edit this? it looks like Behemoths publicity crew wrote it!

I agree. This page is lacking a neutral point of view. It also makes a number of sweeping generalized commenrts like how they helped influence the entire Polish Metal underground, how this album or that album are the "ultimate one" in respected genre, etc. I love Behemoth, but I hate bias. :P 24.224.229.101 (talk) 00:54, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Pronunciation

I don't think it is pronounced like in the audio file. If you listen to Ezkaton, at the beginning of "From the Pagan Vastlands" (live) you hear Nergal saying 'Behemoth'. I Changed Some Things...

I just removed a statement in the opening section of the article. It was between the first and (now) second sentences.

What I removed was this:
"Behemoth is the Polish word for "Lol"."

I am very sure that this was inaccurate; for one thing they do not cite a reference. Another thing is I am pretty sure that Behemothactually has a different meaning.

Also, I changed the link of "Decapitated" to "Decapitated (band). The "Decapitated" link lead to "Decapitation," the definition of the removal of heads. Jackhatte (talk) 05:36, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Don't worry about explaining edits like this. The 'lol' comment was blatant vandalism, and disambiguating a link like that is standard fare. Keep it up! Just remember - as per WP:NOTBROKEN, do not fix redirects that aren't broken. Maybe I don't understand something here but the current image in the infobox is promotional and free images should be used instead. Though what I don't understand is the permission the image has and if this is still appropriate for Wikipedia. All right, I'd love to reconstruct this page- I won't be able to start until tomorrow, but I certainly appreciate anyone who wants to help.
