The M+ OUTLINE FONTS are sans-serif, with proportional and monospaced fonts and many different weights ranging from thin to black. The fonts feature the following characters: C0 controls and basic Latin, Latin-1 Supplement, Latin Extended-A, Japanese Kana, and Japanese Kanji[1]. The fonts are developed using FontForge[2]. It was selected as one of the "free fonts of the month" in Smashing Magazine[3], and also selected as "Project of the Month" in SourceForge.JP[4].
The proportional font variations are
- 1P — aimed as sophisticated and relaxed design
- 2P — variation of above
- 1C — optimized to be proportioned well in typesetting
- 2C — variation of above
The fixed-width font variations are (these are only available in thin, light, regular, medium, bold)
- 1M — created to emphasize the balance of natural letterform and high legibility
- 2M — variation of above
- 1MN — aimed at a new distinctive design for a terminal font specialized to programming
