Revision as of 21:32, 14 October 2010

Sure I'm happy to help. I've done a little and that's all I've got in me for now, but I'll take a look at it again within the next couple of days and see if there's anything else I can add. Thanks. —Justin (koavf)TCM02:29, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Me too! The Smashing Pumpkins seem to be one of those bands I tend to just make little edit on because there's already a number of people who take it seriously, but I'll still do what I can. Thanks for the heads up. Sergecross73 msg me 13:09, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Dashes For what it's worth, I'm intimately familiar with WP:DASH and I'm not sure when I inserted hyphens in place of ndashes... —Justin (koavf)TCM03:21, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Dashes redux None of those are hyphens; they are all ndashes or mdashes: , . Copy-and-paste any of those characters into Wikipedia's search and you will be redirected to dash. —Justin (koavf)TCM03:47, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
FAL I'd be happy to be co-nominator and I would definitely work on the recommendations at an FA nomination, but you've clearly put in more work than me. If you think it's fair for me to be listed, I'd be happy and honored, but this is mostly "your" article. —Justin (koavf)TCM04:50, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

FA comments Please see here. If you're serious about FA status, I'm willing to work on this with you. —Justin (koavf)TCM17:09, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ginger Pooley This implies that she was a member. Again, it doesn't explicitly say, "Ginger Pooley was a member of The Smashing Pumpkins", but... —Justin (koavf)TCM04:02, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Also Did you want to take the lead on importing those pictures from Flickr? If it's a headache, I'll do it. —Justin (koavf)TCM04:19, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination

I went for it I nominated the list. I feel good about its prospects and any changes that we need to make should be simple enough. —Justin (koavf)TCM02:28, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I thought it was ready. If you want to have another go, let me know. —Justin (koavf)TCM04:51, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Peer review

Probably not I have not had a good experience with peer reviews (e.g. my attempt to bring Illinois (album) to FA.) The best tactic is probably to re-write the text to make it explicitly distinct from The Smashing Pumpkins before doing anything and then possibly have a peer review again, or submit to FL. —Justin (koavf)TCM04:43, 9 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely I completely agree; the text was fine once, it's fine twice (somewhat modified). Anyway, a more significant re-arrangement of that material should suffice, as that was the sticking point last time. Again, thanks for your patience on this. —Justin (koavf)TCM04:48, 9 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Basically Maybe find new or different sources as well; that way, the list is more of an independent entity (but it already has a lot of references found for The Smashing Pumpkins in the first place...) —Justin (koavf)TCM04:50, 9 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Peer review backlog

Please do not add items to the PR backlog until they have gone 4 days without comments. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 22:16, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh crap. I accidentally counted today as a day. Sorry about that! WereWolf (talk) 22:43, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It is not a big deal - we go by the UTC time and day on the PR. It will be added to the backlog in a few hours (unless someone reviews it before then). Thanks, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 22:49, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ahh, okay, thanks! WereWolf (talk) 22:52, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning the image File:Josh-klinghoffer-picture-image.jpg that you uploaded, as you noted in the image description, this image is from Flickr user ToshiroKitty. Unfortunately, ToshiroKitty does not appear to be the copyright holder for that photo -- he's uploaded an image belonging to someone else without appropriate credit or attribution. Fortunately, we already have a identical, higher resolution, version on Commons with appropriate attribution at commons:File:JoshKlinghoffer.jpg. As such, File:Josh-klinghoffer-picture-image.jpg appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. File:Josh-klinghoffer-picture-image.jpg has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.

I've updated all references to File:Josh-klinghoffer-picture-image.jpg to instead refer to File:JoshKlinghoffer.jpg. Please feel free to reply here, on your talk page, if you have any questions. I'll keep a watch on this page for any questions you might have. —RP88 (talk) 09:21, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oh, okay. Thanks! To be honest, I'm brand new at uploading media onto Wikipedia... and I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm sorry for any violations, but I appreciate the message! WereWolf (talk) 15:20, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. It's not all that uncommon for flickr users to be sloppy with copyright, so before uploading flickr content to WP, its not a bad idea to do a quick search (with tineye.com, e.g.) to make sure that the image doesn't obviously belong to someone else. —RP88 (talk) 15:34, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Smashing Pumpkins member list

Hey, I just wanted to express my gratitude that you set up the members page for the band. Thanks! WesleyDodds (talk) 05:35, 8 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's my pleasure! Once I finish with the List of Red Hot Chili Peppers band members featured list nomination, I play on focusing my attention on the Smashing Pumpkins list, since it needs some work. But again, thank you very much! It's really appreciated. WereWolf (talk) 15:28, 8 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RHCP members

Sure, you're welcome to relist the list assuming you've covered all the outstanding concerns from the previous nomination. Good luck! The Rambling Man (talk) 10:41, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks - it's a rare day that I get everything right when promoting lists... ! The Rambling Man (talk) 17:07, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

List of Pearl Jam band members

If you would like to nominate it then go right ahead. I'm no longer actively editing the Pearl Jam articles as I used to, however if you run into any trouble don't hesitate to ask for help. I know where to access various articles regarding Pearl Jam that can be used as references if need be. Good luck.-5- (talk) 22:01, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, you can credit me.-5- (talk) 00:04, 13 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not that I can think of.-5- (talk) 22:56, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated In One Ear (song), an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/In One Ear (song). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Mo ainm~Talk 15:21, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance

Re: live track. Please see the talk page. Not only is the edit unsourced, but I would like to know your thoughts on perhaps using a symbol to designate live tracks as opposed to adding "(live)" to the end of the song title. Thanks! --Another Believer (Talk) 20:49, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Question

Do you have any connection to User:AcrossTheOcean? You welcomed this user before s/he had made any edits, and it is very suspicious that the account's first edit was to support Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of Pearl Jam band members/archive2. I hate to jump to conclusions, but if you are the one who created this account, that is considered a serious violation of WP:SOCK. Dabomb87 (talk) 20:20, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I know that this comes across as a huge assumption of bad faith, but I have submitted an SPI regarding you and the new account, here (I had already submitted it before I read your notice on my talk page). As an FL director, I need to be sure. Of course, if there is no connection than there should be problem. Dabomb87 (talk) 20:45, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In addition, you may want to read Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/SPI/Guidance#Defending yourself against claims, and put the SPI page on your watchlist. Dabomb87 (talk) 21:24, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your AIV Report

Just a quick note that I was reviewing your AIV report and it looks like you reported Aar1999, but included an edit from Rockjam101 instead. At a glance, it looks like there may be some overlap there (I haven't reviewed in depth), so you may want to consider WP:SPI. If you have questions, please let me know. TNXMan 02:30, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like WereWolf made a mistake, not realizing the two edits were made on different dates. [1] Reach Out to the Truth 02:36, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If my attempt at being funny in the edit summary came across as "harsh", sorry lol. Red Flag on the Right Side 02:49, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Chili Peppers/Zander Schloss

Anthony never confirms Zander was a offical member of the band in his book. He confirms that the band felw him to Australia in hopes that he would take John's place for the rest of the tour but after rehearsing for four days things didn't work out. So Zander was going to be a member but he wasn't one. He tried out, the band hoped he would be the replacement but things didn't click according to Anthony so they cancelled the rest of the tour but would later continue the tour once Arik became the offical replacement for John.

Chapter 11 in Anthony's book, here is what he says about Zander:

"We met up with our friend Zander Schloss, who was going to take John's place. Zander was a talented guitar player who could read and write music, a quick study with a zandy, soulful, comic sensibility. We had seven days to teach him enough songs to rock out Australia. Zander met us in Sydney and we started two-day rehearsals. But after four days, it was clear to me and Flea that this wasn't happening. Zander was playing the songs but it didn't feel like the Red Hot Chili Peppers. At that point, we decided we'd rather cancel dates than present a half-assed version of ourselves."

Also...you can clearly see on Zander's own Facebook page that he lists all the bands he was employed by and doesn't mention the Chili Peppers http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=100000476358182

Blocked - updating again with no source

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 1 week for disruptive editing, not updating sources. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

I've asked you to stop updating the Billboard Hot 100 article unless you have a new source to back up your edit. You've ignored me multiple times. I've warned you multiple times that this would lead to a block. You've been blocked.

Request reason:

All I've been trying to do is to edit the correct date in before I leave for school in the morning; I don't have any time to cite the source. I've never seen any of the messages that the user has left me on my userpage; I'm on a shared computer, and I've been told by the other people using it that I had received messages on Wikipedia (that I'd never seen) which they subsequently deleted (I sometimes forget to log out in the mornings, as well. I don't encourage WP:MEAT whatsoever. My mornings are extremely busy.) It's my fault for not going back and checking to see what the messages said. I didn't know that putting the correct date on an article was "disruptive", as per WP:IGNORE. I should've looked at the in-text deterrents more carefully as well, but I believe that this block is completely unnecessary. I apologize, and I won't change the date unless I have time to cite the source as well.

Decline reason:

Why are you editing at all if you "don't have time"? Also...are you saying that more than one person is using your account? Smashvilletalk 21:32, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
