SModcast is a weekly podcast featuring filmmaker Kevin Smith and his long time producer partner Scott Mosier, although guests occasionally feature. Released each Sunday night/Monday morning, the episodes are generally one hour in length and feature Smith and Mosier discussing current events and other non-sequitur topics.
The name was derived from taking the first letters of "Smith" and "Mosier" and replacing the "P" in "Podcast".[1] The podcast was originally distributed through Smith's entertainment website Quick Stop Entertainment. New episodes where made available for download each Sunday night or Monday morning, and are then released through the RSS feed the following Friday in order to ease bandwidth strains on the Quickstop Entertainment.[2] On January 1, 2010, the host site was sold and the SModcasts were removed and a dedicated site was started. In addition, the one week delay for iTunes subscribers was dropped starting with SModcast 101.[3]
In September 2009, a transcription of Smith's favorite SModcast's called "Shootin' the Sh*t with Kevin Smith" was released.[4]
In March 2010, SModcast signed Fleshlight as a sponsor.
In September 2010, SModcast officially began playing on SiriusXM's "The Virus" channel, alongside Opie & Anthony and Ron & Fez. In addition to replaying the latest SModcast every week, it will feature a unique SModcast once a month exclusive to the channel and will be unavailable online.[5]
SModcast Guests
While the show is primarily hosted by Smith and Mosier, there have been several occasions when Mosier was unable to record, and his place was filled by one or more guests, though sometimes guests appear with Smith and Mosier.

SModcastle is located at 6468 Santa Monica Blvd in Los Angeles and had its opening night on July 25, 2010. SModcastle is used for live recordings of SModcast, Tell 'Em Steve-Dave!, Highlands: A Peephole History, Blow Hard, Jay & Silent Bob Get Old, Bagged & Boarded, Hollywood Babble-On with Ralph & Kevin. It is also used for NHL video game tournaments, showing movies and weddings performed by Smith who is an ordained minister.

A fan of SModcast Steve Stark, made two cartoons that played out a story that were told on SModcast and uploaded them to Youtube. Kevin Smith saw them and commissioned him to make more. SModimations are released the first Monday of each month.[11]
Awards and recognition
The podcast has been nominated for several awards, [citation needed] and has gained a great deal of recognition from various sources. In 2007, the podcast was named one of the best new podcasts by iTunes.[12]
